This sort of reminds me of the Suns situation in 1993 during the Barkley era. A group of us were at a Suns game and we almost got kicked out because we were standing and being too loud while cheering for the Suns according to some "blue hairs" and "stuff shirts" sitting around us.

Security came up to us and said "people were complaining" you guys were shouting and yelling too much. I was like what???? He said people around you said you guys won't sit down and are being too loud.

Keep in mind we were not harassing fans or using bad language. We were cheering on the team. I was like since win do you have to sit in your seat and "golf clap". I told him when did the rules change? I was arguing with him saying that it was a freaking game and I am allowed to cheer. He went and got the cops and the cops said we need to listen to security or be escorted out in cuffs.

I was asking if I can't be loud then why do they have a "noise meter"?? I said then why are the announcers telling us to make noise? They gave us an "or else comment" and went away. We sat down, they went away...then we stood right back up.

I pushed it but also know when to back off when talking to security or the cops.

Securty was way uptight.
Upon arrival I put out cards balloons and cops were instantly on me demanding that I was selling them. I said no I'm setting up tailgate. They were insistent then I reminded one of them that we fed hum at the last tailgate. Then he backed off.
They were way uptight at the game! Not surprised to hear this....but I am surprised they tossed you out. The fans in our area that have been pulled are normally back after a 15 r
talking too.

The main problem is that they have a staff that works eight days a year if that with minimal training and they really don't have a clue what to do or how to react when situations arise.

At the Rams game a girl was standing at the bottom of the stairs texting....yes texting and people started yelling telling her to move. Well she flips everyone off then goes back up to her seat. Minutes later she comes back with 20 of her friends ready to brawl with the girl who sits on the aisle by me. They told her "We are going to $#$* you up in the parking lot" and much more. Security came up and escorted her and her buddies out. Well a few minutes later she comes back up with security and finger points the people to the right of me, myself, and my freaking 60 year old parents saying "They called me a B----!!!" Security asked "Whomever was calling her names" to come on down....No one responded so I said hell with it I will explain to security what happened. I go down to the concourse tell security exactly what happened, that she was in the way and people told her to move, no obscenities at all, and even the girl's boyfriend at this point realizes how stupid the situation is and we shake hands and it appears that the situation is over....Well after the main instigators leave and go back up to their seats, Ms. U of P security supervisor comes over and informs me that I am being booked for an offense, and that they will need to take my name and season ticket number because I was involved in an incident and that if anything ever happens again my tickets will be revoked. I WASN'T EVEN INVOLVED! IF ANYTHING I RESOLVED A SITUATION!!! I said the hell with that and left the stadium at that point.

They have no control, no leadership, and no real set of standards to go by. Security should have prevented the girl from ever standing on the platform, but furthermore should have ARRESTED her crew for disorderly conduct and threatening and intimidating.

Instead their solution was to somehow attempt to mark the occasion by recording my name in their book. In 12 years I have never been a part of anything that rediculous.

But when my 60 year old mom complained at Guest Relations about the security and the situation after the game, they did give her a coupon for a free Coke.

Here's my perspective for those skeptics who think you cant get kicked out of the stadium without being totally out of control.

Those of you that know me know I'm a pretty quiet/calm dude most of the time. I'm also a pretty calm fan. I dont get 'drunk' at the games and I dont really talk smack to opposing fans. I go to the games with my 63 year old father so I'm not looking to get into it with anyone. I love just going to the games, cheering for the Cards, and screaming my head off. I dont bother anyone and it's seemed to work because nobody bothers me. That being said I do observe the security overreacting quite often.

There is a group of 4 guys who sit behind me. They have been Season ticket Holders ATLEAST since the new stadium opened (that's how long they've sat behind me). These guys are loud and hilarious but totally harmless. They get pretty loaded and usuallygive other fans a hard time but I've never seen them fight. So anyways, at the Rams game 2 weeks ago they were getting onto a Rams fan a few rows ahead of us. They weren't being obscene or abusive, the guy was wearing a Marshall Faulk jersey and they were chanting MARRRSHALLLL MARRRSHALLL MARRRSHALL. That was it. So this guy gets up and, obviously, tells security. The cops came and escorted them out.

I told the officer as he was asking them to leave that they didn't do anything, they were just yelling "Marshall", as did my Dad. He told us 'stay out of it or you'll be removed too'.

I'm all for keeping order in the stadium. There were some times in SDS that were no fun at all. The fighting and drinking was definitely out of control at times, but they have gone too far in some cases at UofP.

SDS Security worked twice as many games and they were that much more experienced and equipped to handle situations. At U of P they just don't know what they are doing. They have no clear mission and no leadership. It is sad but I don't see it changing.

I certainly hope security is there to 'protect' me at the Super Dome this weekend when the Cards win. I'll be there with only my 90lb wife for protection. I'm too old to fight anyone straight up anymore, I have to blind-side them:D

THIS ONE IS FOR YOU KOC. TIM WE DID IT.
Says the guy who threatened to kill me several times in a thread you made titled:

EFF YEAH MOTHEREFFERS (spelled out quite a bit more than this)
After a win a few years ago
Skkorp banned you for "life" after that one. :doi:

Yep, no anger management issues with you.
I'm sure you getting kicked out was all just a simple misunderstanding. :D

Sorry buddy but If I was banned for life then how am I here? Skorp didnt ban me for life for that, It was a complete different issue. As for my thread yeah mother effers I was excited for the win, does that mean I can go through your whole life and narrow down ANY occasion you have had where you cussed or got excited and then make an assumption about you years later? IF you noticed I dont post anymore, and not like that. Having a newborn kid and wife changes a man...but when I tell you that I did nothing wrong, I did nothing wrong. Now if you believe me or not that is up to you.

I got some more info from my dad. It was the Packers fan sitting behind me who told security on me as I went to get a beer. I turned to him and said he should have stayed in WI after we were up 14 to 0. He told security I was harrassing him. so after I got the boot. He started to rub it in my dads face telling him "oh you are so lonely without your son, ha ha" "your son is in the parking lot ha ha"... F that. I now wish I would have just punched him in his yaphole ...I would have got the same consequence.

Did anyone see the three guys dressed up as some kind of captain cardinal and toting the sign around GO PACK FUDGE. I thought that was pretty provolking, yet there they were, people around them yelling it, yet no escort. Funny how things work in that place.

All of this crap just makes me want to watch the game on my 50 inch plasma in HD. Hell yesterday I was banging my head through the wall and tackling friends. I wouldnt last 10 mins in the stadium. I remember being at the Viking game last year and this old guy kept getting mad because we were loud and crazy. It was a bad impression for me

Notice that I put the word "life" in quotes because obviously it wasn't permanent.. IIRC you were let back on appeal when your bro Mark was sick.

I have the PM's from Skkorp where he informed me he was banning you for life, So I'll go with Skkorps word on this one... not that I give 2 s**** either way.

It was getting that way at UoP as well.

So the admins had to do something. But as usually happens when a change is made people go overboard. Give the security folks some time and they'll find that "happy medium".

I saw two fights in my section as the game progressed into the 4th quarter, including one beat down of a packers fan, who was subsequently tossed but the cards fan wasn't.

that being said, I behaved MUCH worse at the niners game and all I got was code of conduct card.

And Shane im not a hot head and I dont appreciate you calling me that. I might be passionate but im not a hot head. I think about my choices...lol well most of them.

Sorry bud but it is what it is. There are at least a couple stories from you in the archives about just this exact topic. You being a hot head and punching people out etc.. Your history and proud history of telling us all about it speaks for itself my friend. Its ok we still love ya! :)

Whats crazy is that I have been going to games for 21 years 10 games a year in SDS from 88 till about 92 and about 4 games a year since from 1992 to 2009.

That's approx. 118 games I have attended. I can get pretty loud and obnoxious at times moreso 6-8 years ago than now and have been in some pretty good verbal jaw jacking in my time. But In almost 120 games including SDS I have only seen 3 or 4 people actually get kicked out unnecessarily. It usually has to do with some may lay where they get caught in the middle and get drug out with the rest of the trash that actually deserved it. Maybe twice I have seen the wrong guy get booted that wasnt in a may lay. I have NEVER been booted myself. Had a buddy get kicked out last season when he called a fellow Cards fans wife a CU** (she was) The husband defended her honor and the fight was on. Both got the boot and deservedly so actually.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that with all my stadium time which is plenty I dont seem to have a problem. Yet many on here seem to have repeated problems? I wonder why that is?

The first year at the new stadium we got to know the security that works in our section. Most of them are pretty cool and they do have supervisors. Here is some advice for anyone that is getting pushed around by security.

Get to know them. Introduce yourself at the start of the game. Tell them how much fun it is going to be and if they need anything during the game let you know.

Police yourself and those around you. If you see someone getting out of hand, and by this I mean someone using profanity or trash talking to someone that isnt in to that then tell them to knock it off. I am all for talking trash but only to fans that are into it and see the fun in it.

Ask for a supervisor. Don't be rude or yell. I have done this and it works well. "Look, I don't mean to be a jerk but can you please get your supervisor?" Then CALMLY ask the boss why you are getting bothered. The supervisors are usually ok and will listen to logic.

Away fans are cowards. They come in large group 5 or more and start talking trash and profanity. When one or two Card fans respond, those away fans cowards call security. I admit security is harsh on Card fans and it ends up escorting Card fans out. In Falcons game, I told apolice officer to be fair, if he has to get some out, both fans then. His response was "mind your own business". I think their logic is: if you complain first, the other is guilty.

Al, we've never actually met, but I sure feel like we have. And I have always LOVED your passion!!! Love it!!!
My view on this stuff is that things have clearly changed ever since we moved from SDS. And as a result, we needed to either accept the change or deal with the consequences that come from not accepting the change...
For me, I pay way too much for my seats to run the risk of being kicked out and missing the game. I won't let some ****** Packer/Cowpie/9er/SeaHag or whoever else bring me down to the level where I would cause one of the security geeks to even raise an eyebrow.

Now, I'll admit I've come close from time to time... And this past Sunday was about as close as I've come thus far to bringing the wrath of S.A.F.E. upon me. We had some bigtime idiot Slacker fans (4 of them) siting two rows behind. They were morons and my buddy and I, along with a bunch of other Section 102 faithful, got on their asses really good. To their credit, they didn't go crying to S.A.F.E. They came back at us just as hard... but man it was SOOOOOO great to send them home with their heads hung low!!!!

the main problem is people just don't know how to act or control themselves

as such that leads to heavy handedness, inconsistencies, etc

it's sad, but that's just the way it is and it goes with almost anyplace where you agree to abide by rules and regulations

i've been thrown out of a bar after being cutoff while I was the DD (hence, not drinking) - it was a bar where stupid things would occasionally happen and people would be rightfully dismissed .... in this case I was heading to the bathroom and say a couple "ladies" start to argue about position in line - one chick was a bit drunk and obnoxious, the other seemed fine and just didn't want to deal with her and refused to engage her ...... drunk chick comes back with the bouncer and says "that's the one who called me a B*&^%h and pushed me"

Bouncer starts to throw her out and she protests that she did no such thing - i don't know either chick, but saw what was happening and said "that's not right - this girl did nothing but stand there and then move away" .... drunk chick starts yelling profanities at me - I say whatever and continue on my way .... bouncer informs me that I can stay, but they're cutting me off ... i inform him they can't cut me off because i'm not even drinking - he informs me it's time for me to leave ..... crap happens sometimes .... on one hand it's BS that both myself and this other chick got tossed because one drunk chick was causing troubles - on the other I understand it because they get so much "he said/she said" crap and so many instances where they just scrub themselves from all the drama and remove it

best thing is what is mentioned above - police your own and know how to act - if opposing fans are acting out of line let them know or report them in before they take a couple home fans with them - if home fans are acting out of control try to redirect that emotion - also know that some fans like to banter and deal with the back and forth, others don't

was at a game last year and two fans in front of us were just hammered and arguing back and forth - my wife thought a fight was going to break out - i didn't think so, because even though they were both drunk and out of control, they were the opposite sides of the same coin - drunken loud mouths just looking to talk crap, even if their jerseys were different ...... they pretty much helped each other walk out of the stadium - obnoxious, but harmless

the one time I've seen a fight breakout at UoP was walking back to the car after the chiefs game - some cardinal fans were riding this chiefs fan and his wife - take you and your nasty wife back to KC, etc

he turned and was like "wtf, i'm just walking to my car - why don't you shut your mouths - i don't know you guys" ...... some chick started getting really profane and insulting .... guy asked "who's with this chick" - one guy stepped forward and the chiefs fan decked him - security actually did a good job getting there as it was near one of the crossing areas ............ whole situation was idiotic and preventable

Unless you have kids with you, one should expect constant harassment for going into another team's house. I don't think anything short of repeated vulgarity IN FRONT of security or physical violence should result in anyone getting removed from their home stadium.

The flaw in this logic, is that there is going to be kids within earshot EVERYWHERE.. so you're saying.. If an opposing teams fan has a kid.. don't be a douche to him, for the sake of his child.. But it's ok for people to be complete ass-hats and set crappy examples near OTHER peoples kids?
