Why would anyone judge a kid on a tweet, especially one 2-3 years ago? Besides, all he did was tweet what about 75% of college players think anyway.

As for his NFL prospects, it'd be awful risky to spend any type of high(rounds 1-3) pick on him. That said, I think I'd rather have him as a developmental guy over LT.

Also, OSU showed what I have been saying about Mariota all along. Guy has no business being talked about as the #1 pick.

71 pass attempts in 2 years and we are already anointing this kid?
I'm not ready to do that. He had so much time to throw back there and time to make reads it was crazy. Don't know what Oregon was thinking not bringing pressure. He does have a strong arm, but lots of QB's do.

Looked a lot like VY 2 to me. With a better arm.

Yeah...3 starts. Logan Thomas was a future #1 pick overall after 3 starts, and look where he ended up. I'm not saying this kid can't be good, but I'm not spending high picks on him. I guess I just didn't see anything from a throwing standpoint that made me think this guy is going to be an NFL star.

The things I like about him are he seems pretty accurate with the ball, he's not flustered in the pocket, and he keeps his eyes downfield rather than on the oncoming rush.

I'm not all that crazy about his throwing motion though. But he does get it there quickly and accurately, at least so far. And it's not like he has played against 3 scrub teams either. Still, anything before round 4 would be very risky.

That's a fake Twitter account. Look at the handle @cordale10. His name is Cardale. Also, how was he posting during the game last night?

Hard to say, if you google it, he apparently DID have that account as a freshman but later deleted it after the controversy over some of his tweets. Someone appears to have resurrected it and is now posting some nutty stuff.

The 10 was apparently his HS number and nobody seems to have explained why he misspelled his own name but 2 years ago when that tweet came out, it appears it was actually his.

Totally agree with all this.

Btw congrats on that huge win last night I was thinking bout you & a friend of mine last night who's also a huge fan. I would've never guessed they wouldve dominated the Ducks last night, shows ya what I know :D

Would be great. Another developmental QB that some on the board could say should be converted to TE :)

Well the difference is to the best of my knowledge, Jones didn't try to hire a famous QB coach to tutor him only to work out for the guy and then have the coach tell him I can't agree to take your money, you're not a QB, you should move back to TE.

At least that's one of the rumors that came out when Thomas was dropping before the draft, that in college he tried to hire Steve Clarkson, worked out for him, and was told by Clarkson he was playing the wrong position and should move back to TE.

I have to laugh at some of the comments anointing this kid a sure fire NFL QB prospect with the small body of work he has to date. I remember some also gushing over Tajh Boyd and we all know how well that went. Then again some people thought Vince Young was going to be the next Randall Cunningham too.

I know Russ. My comment was tongue firmly in cheek :)

Flavor of the week?

I agree whole-heartedly with both of these posts. The OP seems to be a bit over zealous on just about every post they make. Just read some of the posts he makes during the game day threads. He once even said (typed...:D) to me that he would punch me in the face if he saw me in bar. I some how doubt that is true...either.

I think all the QBs in this draft are not worth a first round pick. It is the current state of what college football requires of the position but it does not satisfy the NFL

Now, now, I never said that "I would take Cardale Jones in a second!", because I would most certainly NOT at this point. He's only played in 3 games so far after all.

I was just, apparently inadequately, interjecting a little levity in the thread.

I heard this morning that some are claiming him to be a day 2 pick, if he decides to come out. Just for the record I think that is way to high.

If I'm Jones, and I get a rating back of at worst 5th round, I'm bolting for the NFL. There's no guarantee that he'll even start for OSU next season. Might as well get drafted by a team like Pittsburgh, San Diego, NYG, or another team with a QB in his 30s, sit on the bench and develop a la Logan Thomas, and get paid for doing it.

I agree...his coach was addressing that situation in a presser this morning.... said Cardale's stock is very high right now...higher than it has ever been...maybe higher than it will ever be.....

which kind of indicated the kid wont be starting next season...

Of course he's not going to start at OSU he is the third string QB. If his agent says he goes top 3 rounds you come out now better to get NFL coaching and paid than sit on the bench at OSU!

Mel Kiper on NFL Insiders just said Jones is a 2nd round pick. If he goes back to school and enters the draft next year, he could be a top 5 pick.
