Mel Kiper on NFL Insiders just said Jones is a 2nd round pick. If he goes back to school and enters the draft next year, he could be a top 5 pick.

If he starts. He was the #3 QB for a good reason. What does OSU do if all three come back next year?

I agree whole-heartedly with both of these posts. The OP seems to be a bit over zealous on just about every post they make. Just read some of the posts he makes during the game day threads. He once even said (typed...:D) to me that he would punch me in the face if he saw me in bar. I some how doubt that is true...either.

If I remember correctly you are a very large guy. :)

no thanks.
Intelligence comes first at the QB position.

There's booksmart and there's football smart. Ryan Fitzpatrick would be a hall of fame QB if booksmart was important. It's impossible to tell how football smart this guy is from a tweet he apparently made 3 years ago about school.

Hard to say, if you google it, he apparently DID have that account as a freshman but later deleted it after the controversy over some of his tweets. Someone appears to have resurrected it and is now posting some nutty stuff.

The 10 was apparently his HS number and nobody seems to have explained why he misspelled his own name but 2 years ago when that tweet came out, it appears it was actually his.

Well, given his views on education.. It's not THAT hard to fathom that he doesn't know how to spell his name. :D

Leave it to wisconsincard to turn this into a arguement and a put down. Anyway. I graduated from Ohio State. I have seen many many of their games and this dude is legit. Yes he tweeted that statement but in November he became a father to a little girl. He has yet to miss a class, a film study and has completely turned his attitude and life around. He told Urban when he was given the starting job....that he would make him proud. I truly believe he did way morethan that. He is articulate and very humble now. Listen to his interviews. He thanked his teammates. He said they are a family and he doesn't deserve to start nor deserve to play in the NFL because he isnt ready. Which ironically makes me believe he is more ready than 90% of the ones coming out based on his humbleness. He can throw the ball 70 yards from his knees and he runs a 4.55 40. Dude has skills. My original post stated I would take him in a second. And I would because He would be a great Backup!!! I didn't say get him in the first round nor would I start him. But I would love to have him as a Cardinal

Which QB's have entered the NFL and had success with very few college starts?

Cam Newton only had 14 starts at Auburn, IIRC.

Any others?

Brad Johnson only had about 6 starts at FSU and Matt Cassel hade zero starts at USC. Those are about the only 2 I can think of that have had some success with minimal college starts.

I agree that he has only had a limited amount of starts but how would him going back to Ohio State and at best starting in a spread option offense and at worst being a back up in the same offense help his skill set for becoming a quarterback in the NFL?

Ultimately, I think that he needs to find out what his projected draft slot is and then sit down with Urban Meyer and determine where he is on the depth chart and what his role will be with the team moving forward.

I do not think he will be a first round pick (in 2015) but if he is projected as a 2nd or 3rd I think he really should consider declaring for the draft. He has the size and tools to be a NFL quarterback. And right now he has a small sample size of playing great against the best competition of the 2014 season. I am definitely interested in hearing what CBUS' friend has to say about him as a prospect.

Dak Prescott had a press conference yesterday to announce he was returning to school as well. I guess it's a thing now.

Difference is this kid has played 3 college games!

Mel kiper had him going maybe as high as end of 2nd round! Hats a million dollars guaranteed usually! And 1 3 or 50 starts. Dude won 3 of the biggest games any kid has won. On cowherd today a few said he actually
Outplayed Mariotta and has better skills than any other QB in the draft. I think the NFL was intrigued. I'm sure he didn't secide on the press conference. Meyer knows what he is doing. Jones will start mext year and Barrett will start last 2 years of his time there

LOL...this is hilarious. I will laugh when he is a 5th or 6th round pick next year. He was at best a 3rd round guy this year. Now, he is going to spend the year on the bench, lose all of his momentum, and still be a questionable NFL talent, just one year older.

Urban Meyer sold Jones a bag of magic beans.

I wish he would have sold half a bag of those beans to Lindley.

I disagree. I think he was 3rd or 4th rounder this year and he will likely be next year even if he plays minimally. His tools will still be the same and that's what the NFL would've been drafting him on anyway. The NFL wasn't going to buy into the NCAA hype. But, if he plays, plays well again, and shows that he was not a flash in the pan, he could elevate himself to 1st round status.

Personally, I don't think Braxton Miller will be in the equation at OSU next year for either health reasons or transfer reasons. His health issues have been awfully quiet and that's usually not a good sign.
