I'll be the first to say it: Skelton IS our QBOF

You may be correct here, but I'm offering up an opinion that is lost in all the "WHIS SUCKS, WHIS SUCKS, WHIS SUCKS" circles. Our front office has failed to find ANY decent 3-4 OLB over the past 3-4 years. They failed to bring in good offensive talent. They failed to add a good young ILB. They've failed find a good tight end. They've failed to find a punt returner. I mean for as many draft hits that we've had, we've also let other positions go completely unfilled or underfilled. Even some of our "Stars" have huge holes in their games (Rodgers-Cromartie). This is a flawed team and while we have enough talent to turn it around fairly quickly with a good draft/free agency, I'm NOT optimistic with the front office we have.

You do realize that the coaches and scouts attend the combine, private workouts, participate in the interviews and are in attendance in the draft war room? It isn't just Rod Graves picking guys on a whim. It also those same coaches jobs to develop those players to become contributors.

Graves negotiates contracts, probably has final say so in any draft day deals but I doubt he goes in and tells Whisenhunt who he is drafting when. I am not excusing Graves but you make it sound like the coaching staff is totally blameless here...they are at least 50% responsible for the mess we are in.

This team has drafted 1 very good(not great) QB in Lomax & 1 average (Jake) QB in my 40 years of Big Red football, the rest can be found on any teams practice squads. Skelton I'm afraid may be solid in time (skeptical) but, will never lead us to a Super Bowl title & thats the goal. Please, Redbirds do everything in your power to draft Andrew Luck!!!

I gotta agree with you. Skelton may be AR or Big Ben a couple + years down the road but why take that risk with your team. Get the QB position corrected and fun and glory will follow for a decade or more.

Drafting Luck we don't draft a stud pass rusher this year (or in 2012) so FA becomes the best solution to fix this glaring need.

I just can't help but think, if Skelton was put in earlier in the season instead of Max Hall, we may be looking at a division championship with as bad as the division has been. I just think Skelton brings so much more to the table and how the coaches did not see it earlier is beyond me. Skelton has the physical tools and the intangibles whereas Max Hall only had the intangibles and DA only had the physical tools.

I hope you are kidding. Skelton leading us to the division championship in 2010? We might not be no worse but we would not be any better than last.

Come on guys. Let's not get drunk off this game. We've scored exactly 1 passing touchdown in the last 3 games!! The kid is mediocre at best right now. Can he develop? Sure, but he needs to get up to NFL speed in his decision making. He is very slow in his mechanics and for some reason he is not seeing the field very well. (fitz only 1 catch) I will pray like hell that we don't get suckered into thinking we don't need to draft a QB.

Everyone keeps talking about bringing in some vet to compete... like who? Don't tell me Orton who absolutely stinks. Don't tell me McNabb who isn't coming here. Tell me who out there is worth pursuing that won't cost us a pick that we desperately need since we have a ton of holes.

sigh... I was right

He locks onto Roberts a lot, which is funny but makes some sense, he has probably gotten more work with him.

Breaston and Fitz just run around out there while he locks onto a rookie.

LOL.

Still if you just evaluate him objectively for what he is, I think he's a keeper but he's hardly someone you bet a season on yet.

I remember those days.

"Stops throwing it to Stone Hands!"

At least Roberts proved to be pretty darn good. You see what Andre did? He grew, he improved. Skelton did not.

lol. Maybe we get him back in a few years after he works with a real QB coach?

The most amazing thing is that at one point the Cards had won 2 of every 3 games Skelton had started. How in the world did they ever do that?

Talk about falling off a cliff. 8-4 to 0-5 and the team went from 11-2 to 1-11.

You gotta love Cardinal football.
