I just think the Cardinals made a calculated decision they weren't going to pay KW more than what they thought he was worth. IMO, Whiz is on board with this decision and that is good enough for me.

You know, Mainstreet, how much say do you think Whiz has in all of this? I would be willing to bet you that the FO is calling the shots.

Whiz has been adamant about wanting Warner back. But, the Cardinals' dedcision to stand pat on their offer while knowing that Warner is being wooed elsewhere, means that they are more than willing to let him walk.

It seems unthinkable, doesn't it?

So it's a ONE YEAR GUARANTEE ONLY! :barf:

It is the NFL. There are no guaranteed years, just guaranteed money. That's why signing bonuses are more important than roster bonuses.

How does two years 20 mill, half being gauranteed mean only a one year gauranteed deal?

It would only be a one year gauranteed deal if the first year was 10 mill base salary gauranteed and the 2nd wasnt gauranteed. With no signing bonuses.

Well apparently he didn't even get that. One yr. guaranteed. That's even worse!:barf:

No it isn't. Kurt will be lucky to finish off this year. If he does get injured, there is no way he is coming back for the second.

10M in the open market can do a lot of things.

Again, there are no guaranteed years in the NFL. Just guaranteed money through signing and roster bonuses. You are working yourself up into a lather over an editorial by a non local media member using unconfirmed sources.

They knew it wasn't any bluff. I thought they offered 20M guaranteed. They didn't! I'm pissed.

Who thought the 2 year 20M offer wasn't for guaranteed $$$$?!

I did. No contract in the NFL that is longer than 1 year has 100% guaranteed money.

Only half guaranteed, that was known from the start.

$10 million guranteed money.

I am kind of shocked you are acting like 10 million in guaranteed money is an insult. That is almost exactly what I would offer.

C'mon. Everybody who heard the offer of 20M for 2 yrs. thought it was a legitimate guaranteed contract.

There are no guaranteed deals in the NFL. If you think that you need to take some lessons on the NFL.

Just to be clear WildBB, nearly all your NFL contracts only involve half the contract guaranteed (unless you are Albert Haynesworth who got a crazy 62% guaranteed).

You are making repeated barf smileys over the way the NFL works.

I would have gone up to 12 million guaranteed but that's just me.

Why ?

I also remember a comment from Whiz saying how close Kurt and Matt were when he evaluated them.

I think Whiz has an huge say in this.

Whiz has been adamant about wanting Warner back. But, the Cardinals' dedcision to stand pat on their offer while knowing that Warner is being wooed elsewhere, means that they are more than willing to let him walk.

No, it seems like they didn't want to overpay for a 38 year old QB

He's worth more than a one yr. 10M guarantee. Here's what the story says.

According to a source close to Warner, he has been offered what amounts to a one-year deal, with one season at $10 million, and a team option for a second year at the same terms.

The story is wrong.

Every team has a "team option" on every NFL contract they have. You are making a mountain out of a speck of sand.

How do you think we can cut Edge instead of paying him if we want?

No, he isn't. If he is strongly considering retiring now, you don't think those feelings will come back even stronger when he is 39?

C'mon, the man wants to play two more years. What's the problem. 2 yrs. at 20M / 10M each guaranteed,.

What was the problem, they couldn't anty up to the only guy that's helped lead them above mediocrity?!

Well if you think that there's no sense in going on with the conversation. And NO one yr. at 10M with a team option for the second is not a competitive offer IMO. Not for what the team accomplished this past season.

There is a new report on ESPN by Michael J. Smith that says 1. our offer is 2 years 23 mil. , 12 mil. guaranteed. 2. says Cards will not budge off that offer. Sounds reasonable to me. The plot thickens!
