Nothing went over my head. It all started with not signing Murphy and Allen. Both those guys left and guess what? Neither of their teams are going to the playoffs.
What we didn’t sign last year has nothing to do with who we sign this year.
With this pass rush we’d be screaming right now how Murphy new nickname should be toast or defending him how “ he’d be alright if we had a pass rush”.
We would have been wondering why we signed Allen for 15m in return for his 27 tackles and 4 sacks. And on his current team he is surrounded by talent.
Instead we got 46 tackles and 3.5 sacks with Stills, who would have probably been sitting on the bench for about 13m less.

Sorry we differ on how we look at this.
This statement holds very little, if any, water.

HUH?! This is a deranged statement.

Stafford 2021 was 12-5 and had a 102.9 passer rating and 63.8 QBR.
Purdy this year is is 11-4 and has a 112.2 passer rating and 71.7 QBR.

:doi:
Cherry picking. I'm talking TDs and passing yards.

I'll take a lower QB Rating for A LOT more TDs and yards.

It's easier to have a high QB Rating when you can hand off the ball to McCaffrey and the other good backs that Purdy has.

I’m tired of taking fire without responding in kind. I don’t start with the derogatory statements. But eventually even I crack.
Just note who you are talking to and don't respond in kind.

I know you are a good dude who doesn't have to resort to those kind of posts. I disagree with your Purdy takes but I wouldn't stoop to calling you dumb or anything. There is room for disagreement on these posts.

Why are you talking about Murphy and Allen? We've been talking about Monti's refusal to bring in outside FAs o long-term contracts. You're bolded statement is patently false. Say we'd signed a solid DT in FA--then we wouldn't have a gaping hole at one of the DT positions, so it would have a direct impact on who we would sign this coming offseason. It's very simple, man.

Ok. So fair reason for people to still be skeptical of the first time GM and coach whose first season was awful even if it was expected.
This is my fear. We've seen enough over this season to seriously doubt this pairing. I'm still giving them the benefit of the doubt because of the mess they are cleaning, but this pair could end as a typical Cardinals grouping.

The day we watch Allen and Murphy walk most were lamenting over their loss. Did you?
You seem to believe because we didn’t sign a couple of players last year that we can sign 4 players this year.
As an example only, if we signed Allen and Murphy last year would it have an effect of how much cap space this year?

So simple that I'm sure you can put a name to this 'solid DT' and a price tag, right?

Sure, but we all KNEW it was going to be this year because we punted on an entire season.
But we didn't punt a season. We brought in a new front office. We had a draft to address the different type of players we want in the organization. We hired coaches to reset the vision and direction of the team and to coach the players in that new vision. We laid out new strategies and a foundation to build on going forward. The staff saw which players to keep and which to get rid of that didn't meet our timeline or vision of type of player we want. This is a huge undertaking to establish all of this in one season times 70 or so players. Repetition and reemphasis of this new direction is being established over 20 games counting preseason. I don't think we punted at ALL on this season.

Then we failed ABSOLUTELY MISERABLY because not only did all of the above accomplish nothing as far as making the team better, we’re going to end the season WORSE than last year, while facing pretty much EXACTLY
the same questions going into next season that we had going into this season.

So we either punted on the season or we actually tried and failed so spectacularly from last year’s bad team that we actually got worse. If we DIDNT purposefully punt on the season, then we’re facing an even grimmer future than you even realize.

You say we Spectacularly failed. I didn't realize we went from being in the Super Bowl to a three win team. I saw last year our team was abysmal. This year every broadcaster, NFL evaluator, etc, say the Cardinals are playing with a lot more fire and aren't taking off games like they did the previous season. Every one of them say the coaching staff has the guys showing max effort the whole game, which we didn't do the season before. We are laying a foundation. Everyone likes to compare us to Detroit. Why? Because they turned it around like we are doing. They started off by getting their guys to play hard all season. It didn't translate to wins the first year, but it has since then. Give it a couple seasons, THEN panic. It's only fair to see what will happen. Let's give this turn around a chance. We are only having the second draft. Jeez! :) :) :)

If you notice, I never say "we" or "us" because none of their failures (or success) are my own.

I fear that Bidwills ability to spot competent football minds is severely compromised. At least this time he did go outside of the organization to find people, so there is some hope there.

Some of us have explained ad naseum why they would have eschewed signing free agents this off season and prioritized getting picks for the much more talent rich 2024 draft. Where I stand is that if they try the same kind of strategy as this past off-season, I'm done with this group because they will have squandered the ability to add top talent.

Beyond lame. Stopped reading right here when your response was to totally fabricate false narratives I never made. I get if you feel differently but lying about what I’m saying to better your own argument is such weak message board garbage and the end of any rational conversation.

It's NOT lying. It's called illustrating my point. To me a spectacular fail off this season over last means we achieved something REALLY good that season, and have just fallen flat on our faces since then. Is that reasonable? I don't see that much difference wins and losses, versus the style of play and how the team is playing harder this season than last.

That you stopped reading was a BIG mistake. It was one of the MOST Brilliant posts in ASFN history and you missed it! :) ;) ;) ;)
