WOW, they cut streaming off on IheartRadio. I was only able to hear that they said he is the starter. Any updates?

Said he was offered no guarantees in the Oakland contract, so he was advised not to sign it.

Excited to play for BA.

Very excited to play with Fitz.

He says he only has a couple of shots left to win. It is about winning now, not personal stuff or stats.

BA says he is the starter. Glad he has this group of QB's. Likes all 4 on the roster and thinks it is as deep as any group in the league.

Carson is happy with BA because he knows how to coach to "protect the QB" in order to get the ball down the field.

Why agree to come to AZ instead of getting a release? Carson understands they were going youthful. It happened really fast. Says nice things about Oakland. He said this a chance to start for a coach he respects, has a hungry fan base. Beautiful stadium. Awesome division. Great opportunity.

Paraphrasing his responses...

He said this is the best opportunity for him now. Loves the coaches and players. No-brainer, hands-down. Family went to college here. West Coast guy. Made too much sense.

He knows BA is aggressive: Not a long drive guy. Quick-strike approach. 1 pt per minute of possession philosophy. Move up and down the field. Believes in protecting the QB.

Didn't do any research on this staff. Knew about them by reputation. Good football coaches are known because of their successes. No research needed.

Larry is as professional as they come. Phenomenal. Looks forward to the opportunity to work with him.

Then someone walked in my office and I couldn't listen to the rest...

Lindley ?

Why develop Lindley when Brian Hoyer is on the roster, and beat him out last year ? Keep Hoyer, and draft a prospect next year.

Lindley is completely overwhelmed in the NFL, and has shown that he cannot handle it, IMO.

How can you afford Hoyer at 2M for a 3rd string? I think he gets dealt to Pitt, or SD for a 7th.

Well we can, it's just not something we want most likely. We are under the cap, have enough for our rookies, and probably still enough for Cribbs.

So we definitely COULD go into the year with him. But obviously it's not ideal, and would probably be best for us to move him for a pick, this year or more likely next year.

We probably gained 100-200k from Skelton's release above the the 51st player.

Interesting that Arians didn't throw Lindley under the bus, and included him in his praise of our QB group. Said something to the effect that it is up there with anybody in the league now.

Perhaps Lindley's future is on the PS. He's still eligible by not playing (or is it games he dressed) in 6 games last year.

Eligibility for the practice squad is limited to players who do not have an accrued season in the NFL, or were on an active list (53-man roster) for fewer than nine games during their only accrued seasons. Players that have served two seasons on a practice squad are eligible for a third season only if the team has at least 53 players on its active/inactive list for the duration of that player's employment.

His page on NFL.com show him as active for 6 games, but was on the 53 man roster for the whole season.

One thing to show this guy from Oakland was clueless. He called Palmer an INT/Fumble machine. He fumbled 7 times and threw 14 INTs last year and was sacked 26 times. Warner fumbled 11 times and threw 14 INTs in his final season and was sacked 24 times. They both played 15 game. I am not comparing the two as players, but only showing that Palmer is not the TO maching this guy made him out to be.

And at most he only lost 6 of those fumbles. Thats a total of 20 turnovers on about 610 drop backs. Actually sounds pretty good to me.

I'm still a little ambivalent about Carson, but I'm starting to come around.

This team needs a long-term solution at QB. It's been a problem for decades. Warner was an excellent respite to the situation, but let's not kid ourselves. Beyond all of the cheapness and weird personnel moves, the Cards continued inability to stabilize the QB position has been their greatest downfall. We haven't fielded a mildly competent starter under the age of 30 since Plummer. Adding Carson doesn't do much to fix this enormous shortcoming.

Still, I understand the move. Our new head coach will be 61 next season. Our franchise WR will turn 30. These guys want to win now, and it's hard to argue that Carson isn't head and shoulders above what was already on the roster. As long as the FO doesn't take their eye off of the long-term future of the position, he should be a solid addition.

The trade itself is pretty impressive, though. I was afraid we would need to surrender a 4th or a 5th rounder. Giving up essentially nothing makes the potential rewards far outweigh the minimal risk involved.

Ding Ding Ding. Everyone who doubts should replay the above in their head over and over again.

Kurt Warner loves the acquisition
So do I. It gives us a legit QB and keeps Barkley and Smith away from the Cards. I think Sean Renfree is going to be our QB draftee in round 5+.

Very happy with the trade and fine with the contract. CP is a solid starting QB who has not really done much to help his team win games, especially after the knee injury. He is a HUGE upgrade based on what we have had over the past 3 seasons. I'm going to think of Rich Gannon and Kurt Warner and hope CP becomes the next one in that series.

I think Keim and Licht did a wonderful job with the trade. Instead of waiting/hoping CP gets cut and then having to potentially get into a bidding war the give up basically no compensation for the exclusive bargaining rights.

I will say that due to the CAP (other circumstances?) that teams have all the leverage and many contracts are far different than recent years. Having said that I don't think Graves could have pulled off all these moves with such team friendly contracts.

As a fan base it is more than difficult to have faith in any Cards FO because it has been so inept for........like forever. But those who preached patience and had faith (blind?) have been vindicated, at least to this point.

Smokescreen to get Buffalo to trade? At least it's not Barkley or Geno. I would love to pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd in this draft.

Its possible some of the qbs may fall as many teams now have an experienced qb. There may be some real bargains in 3rd and 4th round.

Well I was wrong about these guys. Sounds like they have a plan and it may be a good one.

Hopes lifting for the upcoming season.

Great move. I bet Fitz is all smiles now. Finally someone who can get the receivers the ball.

The presser was impressive. Not a lot of coach-speak or player-speak (when a question was asked, you got what seemed to be a spontaneous and straightforward answer from both BA and Carson).

One weird thing, though - on NFL Network's list of Cardinal off-season acquisitions was Josh Cribbs (Should we read anything into this? Or did NFLN screw up by listing Cribbs prematurely)?

Im impressed we gave up only a marginal amt. I like Palmer with BA calling plays. We will score more than our D gives up ...but only if we can set it up with the run. Big if....but I like this move alot

I was talking to a Raiders fan at my work.. Asked him about us getting Carson.. He said he has to roll with Matt now.. But said tht most of Carsons yards come in the 3rd and 4th qtr when the Raiders were getting blown out..

He seemed genuine in that he seemed to rather have Carsonbut did offer up that nugget.. Since we just dismantled our defense, this doesnt sound good.. If we had Carson last year it might have been a different story..

Agreed.

And the last part about the trade is spot on. We got this guy for practically nothing.

Good day for the birdgang.

Well This trade made back the losses of the Kolb deal. Palmer has plenty in the tank, treat him like a rock star and feed the good dog- We are better instantly- but will take more than one year to gel

I can't help but get excited with everybody, getting caught up in the Kool-aid, but I wonder, how does this help us win a superbowl?
