I've seen the future of the NBA and his name is Amare Stoudemire.

That was quoted by Shaquille O'neal. I dislike Shaq but I love that quote. ;) Any chance of him ending his carreer in Phoenix? Amare + O'neal would be scary.

Anyways check out this 6 minute video sent out to members of the media. It promotes Amare for rookie of the year.

The video has some nice replays.

In a way I hope Yao wins the ROY because that will fuel Amare to reach even higher than he is right now.

that was a great video though. I like how they ended it with Kobe saying that Amare is the best rookie by far. Maybe the media will actually listen to him since he is their god.

Sorry. I hate bumping threads, but I had to bump this. Unfortunately it's not nearly as scary as I imagined. :(

It will prove to be scary with some good preseason preparation and a less stubborn coach. Watch out.

I agree. I don't think D'Antoni really understood how to use Shaq on an inside out passing scheme or to set him up to hit cutters when he's doubled. Also, getting the ball inside takes a lot of planning and ball movement to get a good angle, which requires a different appreoach than what D'Atnoni was using.

Yup. Remember when Shaq arrived, D'Antoni had him playing Center at the high post.

Absolute mis-use of an established player.

How many millions of basketball fans knew that it was a stupid idea? But not the professional NBA head coach. The obsessive professional NBA head coach.

D'Antoni is now the 3rd highest paid coach in the NBA. Horsefeathers.

Well, DA was stubborn as to organizing offense solely around Nash, despite the knowledge of how good teams like Spurs and Pistons were able to kill Nash. He had to change after 10 games or so but it was too late.

I'm not sure what Mike thought. I'm guessing that he expected Shaq to play like KT and Skinner, except that those guys can shoot jumpers. Teams wouldn't guard him him out on the elbow, so the paint was jammed up no matter where Mike put him.

I don't think Mike's an idiot, but sometimes it feels as if he's slow at picking up on things like this.

Nice find! I had brought up Dantoni's incompetence earlier this week on how ludicrous it was to use him in the high post.

**** Dantoni for not knowing how to use Shaq to his best potential. What a stubborn simpleton.

Don't blame D'antoni on Shaq's failure to stay in shape or hit a freethrow or god forbid, play some pick and roll defense.

Shaq's conditioning wasn't a problem....especially considering the layoff he had before his 1st game in a SUNS uni. I thought he held up well in that regard.
As far as FT% and PnR defense i have no comment.

Ha, that's great! Nice one.

It is scary, but unfortunately not for the reasons we might have envisioned. All Stoudemire has done is focus in on O'Neal's weaknesses and use them as justifications for not improving his own attitude.

Sorry for the bump...

It's too bad Amare is not playing up to his true potential. Shaq is playing like he's 32 again. Amare seems to be coasting at about 70%.

They dont fit together, simple. Two big egos, two guys who need the ball to go through them constantly.

Shaq has the bigger ego though.

Shaq has accomplished something in his career. He has the right to have a huge ego- he's earned it. Amare hasn't. Simple!

Find me an NBA player, an all nba player at one time, who has scored 25ppg and shot 60% who DOESNT have a big ego ... keep looking ...

I think that shaqs presence ont he court and the lack of good shooting has just destroyed spacing for amare in the lane, so now he shoots jumpers or drives into a pile of defenders. When you look at all the TO's, why would anyone evaluate a player playing in that crappy offense? The suns all too often are taking shots late in the clock cloaked with defenders. Its a real bad sign that the defense has your number, that your offense isnt that hard to defend, or is very predictable. By the way, that is the criticism of the saunders offense around the NBA. I'm not going to blame amare for this debacle that is the suns offense. I see the spacing, the numbers of defenders within one step of the painted area. Just last year amare was averaging 29 and a per of 31 in the last 30 games, WTF happened? Right now, Im thinking Porter happened.

Unless the team has some serious improvement, the Amare, Shaq and game style debate will never end. Since we all want this team to win, I just wish we could be fair.

We asked Shaq to be in shape, productive, avoid injury, and, improve his free throw. Shaq's form this season is beyond everyone's imagination. U can find his stats anywhere, but do u know his rebounding rate is as good as Tim Duncan? Can u believe he is making 62.8% of his FT? His career best. If a nearly 37 years old Shaq could improve, why not a 27 Amare?

According to all the games I have watched this season, I just want Amare to improve a little bit, say, 1 more rebound and 1 less turnover per game. Consider how close it was in many of our losses, that'll probably be big enough to lift the team to another level.

So, the ultimate question for Amare fans is: Are We Asking Him For Too Much?

We all know Amare and his fans would find some1 to blame to get himself excusable. But there are two things Amare can/should definitely do all by himself, regardless who is the coach, a, get the ******** rebound; b, stop the 6-8 opponent (Diaw) post him up one on one.

Time to face the true problem, the effort is not there now.

All I want from Amare is consistent effort. A lot of times this year, it has looked like he is going at half speed, and just doesn't give a crap. Even if he puts forth effort, and his numbers don't shoot up, he'll make a positive impact.
