rose and marion played together and are probably friends, i think its safer to say he knows what hes talking about rather than just talking to talk.

It's not hard to come to the conclusion that an all-star on a championship team would not want to get traded to a lottery team. You don't have to be friends with Marion to come up with that conclusion.

Who knows if that deal would've gone through anyway? Lets not get too worked up here, I for one am not going to lose sleep over a lineup of:

Amare/KT
Marion/Diaw
Hill/Jones/Belenelli/Piatkowski
Bell/LB/Belenelli
Nash/Koponen/Banks

How does that help their cap problems?

I am starting to think that there is a major problem between Amare and Marion and the Suns know they must trade one of them. They would much rather move Marion, but Marion has the upper hand refusing to sign extensions. So they may be forced to move Amare, and so the latest Amare/Garnett/Atlanta rumors. I hope I am wrong about all this.

Marion is crazy not to sign an extension with Boston. Does he think the Suns are going to extend his max contract after this business? I might like to see him traded to Memphis just so that I don't have to look at this ass clown again.

I didn't say he knows nothing. In his interview he didn't say he spoke to Marion about it. All he said was that he didn't think Marion would want to go to Boston. I also said it's not hard to understand why Marion wouldn't want to go to Boston. Therefore, you don't need to be friend with Marion to come up with that opinion.

Just a suggestion, but you might want to change your avatar.

The Celtics were only in the lottery because of injuries. They're stacked with young talent and of course PP. If they added Marion they could win their division easily. Even without Marion they still might have a go at it.

Jalen also said this, according to LG:

Jalen: "Guys like myself (ufa) need to sit back and see what happens. But to see a guy like Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryant on the same team , I think a guy like Jalen Rose would have to play for food stamps to go run with those guys."

And the Suns were possibly a suspension away from winning the championship. Marion has been in Phoenix for a while now. I agree that adding him to Boston would make that team a playoff contender in the east. However, Marion has a better chance of winning in Phoenix, so it's not hard to understand him not wanting to go to Boston.

So, does Marion think that he would not make BOS a championship-caliber team and, thus, must not be the one making PHX a championship-caliber team? I thought he felt underappreciated and underrated.

Well take it for what its worth but on ESPNews Stephen A. Smith reported that there are 2 rumors going on in terms of why this trade hasn't happened yet and why Marion hasn't signed off on going to Boston: (1) Marion has absoultuely no faith in the Celtic organization and won't sign off on a deal no matter what and (2) The Celts aren't offering enough money in the extension.

So this trade may happen yet

I have no idea what he thinks. However, quite a few players have said they didn't want to go to Boston and quite a few players have expressed their desire to play in Phoenix. Is it really hard to imagine a player in Phoenix not wanting to go to Boston?

Ahh, negotiations.

I still don't see why people don't expect Shawn to look out for his own interests. If nothing comes of this, I'm sure he'll be back next year, contributing like he always does.

Nothing happens, everybody will be back to normal by the beginning of training camp. Who knows, Boris might even be better than normal, if he's planning to stay in Phoenix all summer and work out...

Oh come on, he didn't say that. What he really said was...

(1) MARION HAS ABSOLUTELY NO FAITH IN THE CELTIC ORGANIZATION AND WON'T SIGN OFF ON A DEAL NO MATTER WHAT

(2) THE CELTICS AREN'T OFFERING ENOUGH MONEY IN THE EXTENSION.

That actually explains Ainge's quote. He's basically telling Marion you don't have all the leverage, and we're not gonna give you whatever you want.

At least I'm praying that is the case...

Doesn't boston still have to make the deal even if marion doesn't extend?

Pierce has made the demand, the fans want it done, the risk you have is that marion opts out of 17 million and goes somewhere else that can't pay him as much as boston (bird rights). And they can still talk extension all summer to convince him.

You usually have to take it for what it's worth when it's Stephen A Smith reporting.

I still think there is some life to this, though it seems to be getting less steam behind it by the hour.

This whole thing has been a really weird roller coaster ride.

I do have a problem with Marion being able to have influence in this trade though. I usually have a problem with any player doing it, but I can more accept it coming from a player in KG's position, with KG's ability on the floor.

I wish Boston would call his bluff and do the deal. I don't think he'll opt out of a 17 mill deal, and I don't think anyone else will pay him that much with an extension, so if this is the hangup, take a gamble and see what he does.

I haven't seen anywhere that said that they were offering a maximum extension. I would be really surprised if that was true. I definitely don't think he would turn it down if that was the case.

My guess and this is simply my guess is that Boston will end up doing the deal if Marion agrees to waive his opt-out clause.
