I think he will be better than that. He will be a solid starter. Tyson Chandler level.

Oh c'mon. He's in his final straw last chance season...his FIFTH season now. He played a couple solid games...ok fine. It took him how long? I still don't trust him with a long contract. He'd have to string a lot more games together plus I don't think I'd EVER trust him in a playoff situation.

Maybe his last chance with us, but he will have more opportunities with other teams. Also it is not uncommon for bigs to continue to improve into their late 20s. I don’t think Len is by any means done getting better and will be at least a solid rotation player for a good team.

So we bash our organization for not developing the young guys. We always say bigs tend to develop slower.

But Len has only been around 5 years with bad coaching and development. So let’s just get rid of him?

Many of you were down on Lopez but he’s turned into a solid player. Len has shown some brilliant flashes moreso than Lopez ever did in his tenure with the suns.

It’s just too early. We can see the flashes but he’ll need time to mature.

Watching the game I tried to pay close attention to Len and Bender a lot while they were on the court, primarily Bender on the offensive end and Len on the defensive and Len looked better than I've seen him play as a Sun. I know it's early but he's been picking up fewer dumb fouls which was an issue he's had since entering the league. He's not a great center or above average but I think he is worth a fair contract in between the $6-8 million dollar range for 4 years and I suspect he'll get that this offseason if he can keep up how he's been playing. What sucks for him is that Chandler seems rejuvenated now with Triano coaching because with how Chandler has played I don't see Len taking the starting spot but we're getting about 45 minutes of quality center play from the 2 of them. Each are guilty of taking a couple plays off a game but at this point that't not surprising with how old Chandler is and also how it takes Len a play or two to get into the flow of the game when he first enters.

Bender on the other hand looks really good defensively but still seems to struggle on offense some. I'd be fine with him staying out by the 3 point line if he was better at setting screens and picks that allow him to help team mates move without the ball but it seemed when players would get near him, trying to get a screen, he'd start moving like the offense was rotating in a triangle sort of a formation. I wonder how much of his play has to do with a language barrier. I know he speaks English but it's not his first language and he's getting used to the NBA game and an actual offensive system. Since he seems to understand his role defensively I'm not nearly as worried about him being a bust. Defense usually comes secondary but with Bender it's come first. I don't know how many saw Favors manhandling Bender though, I think he only got called for doing that once, but when Bender was guarding him in the post off the ball, Favors was just bullying him. That might have gotten in his head some and caused him to be less aggressive offensively against him or at the least kept him out of the post himself. It didn't stop his defense though, which is a plus. He has confidence on that end of the floor but he needs to put on some more muscle so he doesn't get tossed around i fthe Suns hope he'll be a Center down the line fro

I'm not worried about Bender at all seeing what I've seen this year. Offense can be learned especially when you figure this kid should still be in high school but his defensive instincts are great. It's a world of difference the leap from last year to this year.

He needs to get stronger and just get more confidence on offense and that will come with time

Suns MVP so far

Tyson Chandler

Gotta love the way this guy brings energy and a positive attitude every night. He’s constantly in the kids ears when they screw up. Incredible role model for all these young players.

Some have suggested trading him. IMO that would be a huge mistake. He’s far more valuable to the Suns than he would be to any other team and he’s definitely more valuable than anything he would bring in trade.

This is interesting. Tyson has done this for two games. But for the first three, he just plain looked like he did not want to be here and was not giving effort.

There was some pretty bad mojo those first 3 games. Was it mainly Watson, Bled, some combination?

The Suns are still gonna lose a ton of games but I’m really diggin the new teaching MO and Chandler seems to like it too.

Valuable in what way? He's not getting us to the playoffs and he's only messing up our draft.

My point was Len had to be in a last chance mode to light a fire in him. What happens when he signs a contract and feels safe again? I wish we never resigned that ding dong because all he ever does is jerk us around. Now we can't even trade him.

Plus I don't care if bigs take longer to develop. It took too long in his case and it's still not "proven". He's still a foul magnet.

We had vets last season...what did they guide us to?

Those vets didn't see playing time during the last 2 months of the season. Chandler got sat, Knight got sat, and Bledsoe was sat. Bledsoe was sat later than the other 2 but we didn't have vets during the end and we lost 13 in a row. Say we were tanking but they weren't deliberately blowing games.

Chandler has been an all-star, Chandler won Defensive player of the year, all NBA, all NBA defense...

Right now we're marveling that Len went back to back games without taking a dump mid-court...

IMO you're either ridiculously overrating Len or underrating Chandler... probably a combination of both.

Did the suns have a winning record with the vets?? No.

Did the suns want to tank and lose more? Yes.

Are the vets a part of our future? No.

Can the vets affect our draft? Yes

Can the vets get us in the playoffs? No.

OK. Maybe underrating Chandler. Not Chandler at his peak, but sort of an average Chandler. If that makes sense.

Chandler stat-wise. The guy has been basically a 10-10 career player.

Really? We know that you support continued tanking, but to declare that you don't care about anything else?

How can any endeavor be managed successfully by disregarding all of its aspects?

Just look at how the excitement and interest of the players and fans have changed over the past two games since the purge, with the disappearance of all traces or purposely losing to hopefully luck out in a draft.

I still believe that factors such as enthusiasm and self-respect of a predominantly young roster are paramount.

Pokerface, I do care about everything else. And now, evidently, so do the people running the team. And most of the members of this board. It feels good to not think of ourselves in the same light as the hapless 76ers.

Hopefully not. The development of the young players we presently have is more important than the draft. I have espoused the idea of trying to get a right to swap picks with a team in return for Bledsoe. I would love to give these young guys some rein and let them try to win without worrying if it is going to damage our draft.

Something like Bledsoe for Okafor and the right to swap first rounders with Philly would be dreamy. Philly is presently 1-4. So there is the chance that that pick would be top 5. But if they unexpectedly do well, we have our own as insurance.

I do not trust the current Suns GM with the over all number 1 pick(if we get it.)

If you play the youngsters without vets cutting into their minutes then we get a good draft and player development. It's the best of both worlds.

Then maybe if salary gets cut we can play the free agency market again.
