i'm sorry i keep repeating this but NO receiver in the NFL has 3 nfl records currently like q does, [most rookie receptions, fastest to 400, and 500], besides his character and heart with teammates. worth more? He's worth at least 2 #1s a 2or3 and a young st player of whizz' choosing. i just dont want to keep him then have him tank the final 2 years of his contract.

And everyone thought Chad Johnson had to be traded a year ago and threw out all sorts of teams as possibilities. The Bengals weren't stupid enough to cave, I don't think we'll be either.
And look at the monster production out of ocho cinco last season... :D

Just kidding, i know playing injured, missing Palmer and having no oline has something to do with it too.

There are many teams out there with a dire need of a quality wide receiver. Hope this is like a frenzied auction, where one team keeps trying to out bid everyone else. That might bring the results most of us want.

McCardell sat out like half the season with Tampa before he was traded to San Diego for a 3rd & 5th round pick. He was 34 yrs old when that happened. So there is precedence and its not unheard of.

We need to either give him an extension or trade him, letting him sit would be a bad move.

McCardell is not even in the same league as Q. The Cardinals need to stay firm with Q but in the end, I think they will trade him if they don't re-do his contract. What makes me pissed is all these rumors about Q going to a NFC team. Why would they make a conference team better? If they trade him, send him to an AFC team.

If we trade him, it will be a rape of a trade. I've never been a Graves rah-rah guy, far from it, but I honestly believe he won't screw this up.
the Bengals were stupid for not trading him. They still finished with a top 10 pick and now will get very little in a trade for him. By very little, i mean a 2nd rounder at best when they could have had at least a #1 and #3. They are in a re-building mode and ended up drafting 2 or 3 WR's last year.

How about the Cardinals make Q honor his contract? If he sits out, fine him. I doubt he would sit out two years. I am getting so sick on how Q is acting like he is in charge. He signed a contract and he needs to honor it.[/quote

Lefty-

I stole your picture and made it into my screen saver. Thank you, that is sweet. (I was second row in the end zone when Larry hauled that one it.)

Why the hell would we trade him to an NFC opponent??

Grrr this is starting to get annoying

Why are you and so many others so worried about this. How many times are we going to face Philly the next 5 years? Don't forget, we will be taking their 1st and 3rd picks in this deal, so they will be without those players. Is this going to stop us from winning a division and making the playoffs? I can understand being concerned about a division trade, but this seems ridiculous to me.

So, maybe we face him in a big game, playoffs maybe, and maybe he has a little extra incentive. So what. We make the best trade we can, period.

Let me also say, I wish we weren't at this point. I really do. Q was such a class act for so long, the heart-and-soul. But the way it has all come down, with him wanting out and us having a superstar reciever, and very good receiver in Breaston, and a wild card in Doucet, to be able to get quality in return will be a beautiful thing.

Oh boy, the Giants are willing to trade their 1st and 3rd to us? Goody goody gum drops, we can move up two spots! The Eagles trade is a bit better since it would mean moving up 10 spots instead of 2. Throw in Lito Sheppard and then we have a more fair trade.

NOt talking about trading spots, we would have their pick, and ours.

Here is the deal on the Clayton report:

he has no inside information. He is simply connecting the following dots:

1. What teams are "really close" to SB contending status?
2. What teams could really use a WR?
3. What teams could afford to pay Q what he wants?

You run 31 teams through the filter above and you will always get the same 4 or 5 teams.

The reality is if you are the Giants or Eagles GM, as of right now you still have the option of signing TJ Hous...... and keeping your draft picks. Wouldnt your team be better of with TJ and all your draft choices instead of just Boldin?

There are really no realistic trade scenarios or credible trade rumours until after free agency is over.

I agree they could and should get more than a late first and third, but those #'s of his dont mean squat. All of those were in the past. What matters is what type of player he is right now. The second amount you listed just will never happen.

Throw me down for the Philly package as well. Pro Bowl starting WR with great numbers and just entering his prime > Roy Williams

I agree but you have to look at a player's environment in addition to his production. For example I always thought it smart for a baseball team to sign any free agent pitcher who had halfway decent home numbers for the Rockies.

With Williams you have to look at where he played. Just like some of the guys who used to play for us, his production is adversely impacted by having played in Detroit.

Same for Boldin. Some might say his numbers are inflated because he plays in Arizona where the Cards throw the ball all over the yard. You have to have seen him play to know that's not true and to really appreciate the intangible value he brings to an offense.

This draft is deep in talented receivers over 6-1 in height.

This might undercut Boldin's trade value and overall value in the NFL marketplace.

Were the Cardinals to consider trading him, it would make good sense to see what receiver they might land "as insurance" in Rounds 2 - 5 on Draft Day (Only problem with this, of course, would be that they'd have pre-empted themselves out of trading him for high 2009 picks by waiting that long).

All told, I still favor a cranky Boldin as a Cardinal for 2 years than some unkown less-talented entity to go with Fitz and Steve.

It isn't moving up it is adding a pick. Even if we had 29 and 31 that still gives us ammo to move up on draft day and get a much better player if we so desire. The Eagles are probably offering 28 which they got from Carolina instead of 21 anyway. Also Lito Sheppard is injury prone and wants a new contract. Sound familiar?

Will you guys please stoip crying about him getting traded to an NFC team. Nobody in the NFL would care about that and I have no idea why you do. It doesn't make sense.

The Cards know Boldin inside and out, and I promise you they would rather play a Giants team that had him than one with Wes Welker, because they know Q's game.

My brother, an Eagles fan, and I have been texting about this for the past few minutes. He says that TJ Who's Your Mama wants to play for the Eagles, though I have no idea where he heard that (am waiting for a reply). Anyone else here this? If he goes to Philly, then I doubt they press hard for Boldin.

TJ should be Franchised, but maybe Cincy is ready to go w/ the young WRs they drafted last year. If I was Carson I'd want TJ back at all costs.

And the offer is ADDING a pick, that's a lot different than moving up 2 spots.

Adding Philly's #21 overall and a 3rd round pick ain't to bad, but I still would prefer him in the other conference. But will take this deal from Philly if it is the best we can get. If we get low balled for Q, let him sit 10 games and play in the playoffs for us, or he and Drewscum can go get married in the Orient or whatever, his cap hit is what 5M.(Not enough to make me flinch sorry)

@ 21 and #31 we get a starting Center and depending on FA we grab a OLB/RB/OG in the next 2-3 picks. Those picks changing when we sign a position to match via FA.

He signed a contract and he needs to honor it.

Sort of like how the Cards told Bertrand Berry to restructure at a lower amount last season, or be cut?

I don't like the NFL contract system, but if the teams can cancel a players contract at any given moment in time...I have no problems with players "demanding" salary increases when they feel it is warrented. (Anyone find it odd that if a coach gets fired...he still gets paid?)

In 20 years, I'll be dissapointed if I'm not earning 3x my current salary in my current occupation. For players like Boldin...they may be more concerned with being able to get from their bed to the bathroom pain free every morning.

Boldin is a great player and certainly one of my favorites. I hope that he remains on the team for several more seasons; but, long after he is gone, I'll still be a fan of the team, no matter who takes the field.

Go Cards!!!

I'll bet the Bengals wish they had "caved" and got something in return for him while his value was still high! Ocho-Cinco had by far the worst year of his career since his rookie year, didn't help the team win, and continued to be a distraction with his name change. Meanwhile, the Bengals sure could use an extra draft pick or two right about now to help rebuild!

I'd be willing to bet that Philly would rather have Anquan. One because of his run after the catch ability and two because it directly affects an NFC rival, the Cards. They must be salivating at the thought of meeting the Cardinals again with a highly motivated Quan in Iggle green.

Just because they know his game doesn't mean that they'll be able to shut him down. Especially since he'd be super-charged to be playing his old team.

Look - in trading Boldin to a major rival, I don't like it....but I understand it. The Cardinals need to drive their price up for Anquan. If they take less from say a team in the AFC, then that team can go ahead with the deal and subsequently shuffle him off to Philly for an even better deal. What will we have accomplished then?! To get taken! The team that got him used us to trade him. It's a possibility.

Another thing people here have to consider is that we're getting prime draft picks (hopeully we're drafting better players because of less needs) from that same rival. Rookies who add alot to a team CAP wise and in overall improvement down the line. This deal can affect Philly some longer term and that bodes better for the Cardinals longer term. I KNOW WE KNOCKED ON THE DOOR THIS YEAR> Hopefully we"ll be knocking a lot more consistently here over the next decade!
