I dont understand whyt everyone thinks that Graves and Keim have drafted so well. They have to have one of the lowest percentages in the league when it comes to first rounders. I think we have picked about three guys over the last ten years in the first who weren't busts.

Wendell Bryant
BIG
Rolle
Skillethands
Pace
Brown
Leinart???
Boston
Jones

I just went and looked at the official site and they have had 1 good draft. Since when is 1/10 good? DRC and Hightower were great picks last year, but the other 5 all underacheived. Look at the gems from the two prior years with Leinart (?????), Duece (BUST), Pope (BUST), Levi (BUST), Branch (BUST), BUSTer Davis, Brandon Johnson, Todd Lewis, Watkins.

It is also sad that on the official site, the organiztion spells Matty's last name LEINHART.

Our history speaks for itself. We have had quick success. But to say or FO has all of a sudden figured it out is blind IMO.

I wouldn't call our success "quick." The players that got us to the S.B. included players from a very stout 2004 draft, solid free agent pick ups, and several other quality draft picks. Whether you want to admit it or not, Graves was here for all of it.

Kiem took on a bigger role the past three years as well as Wiz getting into the fold two years ago. 2 of the last 3 drafts have been good and while we don't know what we have in Leinart just yet we can't really say he is a bust either.

I don't think anyone thinks Graves left to his own devices can evaluate talent.

I'll need to see a link to that Leinhart thing - everywhere else on the main site spells it the correct way.

I know there is a big push for sympathy for Graves crowd but the reality is is that Wisenhunt has come in and taken many of Denny and Graves incosistent draft picks and put them all in a role and got them to play better then at any point then prior to him coming here. Thats even true for Fitz.

Graves wasn't even the one championing the Wiz hire either. Mike was. The most credit you will see me give Graves is for being in the room when Wiz signed the papers.

I will say he has gotten better with re-upping players and contract negotiations as time has gone on. Hopefully that continues.

JP I am not here to bust nuts, but I am just curious as to how you could give Campbell a U? At worst he has been average, he was a great special teamer and solid when on defense. I would also say Levi Brown has been average. He's with the team, starting and is improving. Also you really think Lutui is a bust?

Again not to bust stones, but I think we as fans are too quick to judge players after a year or two, and always grade them as either great, or busts. Have some of the drafts been dissappointing? Sure. But I would hardly describe Brown, and Lutui as busts and Campbell as underperforming.

Thanks for the feedback. I was just grading them as to what they have done thusfar. IMO Brown and Campbell will both be good, but to say that ewither has been average for their draft position is just homer talk IMO.

Levi was the 5th pick in the draft and led the league in sacks given up this year. He has to be considered a bust so far IMO.

2nd round picks are expected to be immediate starters. Capmbell didn't start a game or register a sack all year. I actually blame this on Graves and Keim more because he looks much like the prototypical 4-3 DE in my eyes.

Duece was the worst lineman on one of the worst lines in football both of the last two years. He is a bust. Brandon Keith or Levi will be the RG next year, mark it down.

Fair enough! But just keep in mind that it is very hard for linemen to pass block as opposed to rush block, and last year they did a great job of protecting Warner....which is perplexing becuase they can't run block!

Amazing how with all these horrible drafts, not signing the big name FA's and losing key players, we were still able to make it to the SB this year.

Just blind luck, huh?

Agreed. AND some of these under performers from last year's draft? Ridiculous. Saying that Ducet underperformed on a team full of wide receivers... that's just dumb. When he did play, he made some good catches... It's just hard to get on the field when you have 3 1000 yard receivers.

We've made the playoffs 2 times in the last 30 years guys!!!! Can we please stop pretending that after one good run we are automatically the Yankees of the NFL?

I was just trying to make a point.

I know we have a great WR core, but the fact remains that he was a 3rd rounder who only played in 5/17 games, thus meaning he was beat out of a playing spot by two undrafted FAs (Morey, Urban) and a 5th rounder (Breaston). In those appearances, he amassed 14 catches and 90 yards. Would you really call that a good rookie season if you weren't a Card's fan? If Baltimore had drafted a LB in the 3rd last year and he only got 14 tackles would you have considered it a good year?

that 2007 draft was sooooo crappy for us.

Breaston and Patrick are it. Coulda sold the other picks and we would have been better on the field.

Depends. Was the linebacker hurt during training camp? Did they have more experienced linebackers stepping up and getting 115 tackles each?

Don't agree Lutui or Pope are busts. And Levi is far from that. Leinart really has underperformed because of Warner being Kurt Warner. Not enough info yet on him. He's making strides.

Has Jonson or Lewis caught on anywhere that anyone knows of?

What about Watkins, where is he?

Agree. Calling a guy who has started for two years a bust is ridiculous. Yeah, I wish he was an All Pro, but he's not complete suckage. See, to me, a bust is a guy like Johnny Rutledge. He was so bad, they didn't even dare put him on special teams his rookie season.

Brandon Johnson was signed by the Bengals and started the last half of the season for them.

Watkins was picked up by the Raiders last year, he's still on their roster.

Harrington was signed by the Bengals off of our practice squad and onto their active roster.

Lewis is out of football.

Levi Brown may have given up the most sacks for a starting tackle. But he also had to pass block more than 90% of the tackles in the NFL. We were sixth in sacks based on no. of pass attempts.

Bruce Allen?

That's my guess as well.

The reasoning.. Graves lost his cap management assistent, John Idzik, to the Seahawks. I guessing Graves has taken a more active role in that part of his job and therefore could use someone to take over scouting aspect, which basicly is a job as sparring partner for Keim and Whiz.

Jaguarpaw81, the point you made is that you're ready for ESPN. Good teams don't necessarily have to play their draft picks in their first year. And that is why most say that you have to wait a few years before evaluating a draft class. I'm glad you took the time to look at our recent drafts, but it's just silly to grade last year's class. And now that you've done it, please don't try to justify your grades. If you conducted a poll on this Board, and asked the posters if they were happy or unhappy with last year's draft, I'm sure the results would be about 99% favorable. JMO.

Then you must have hated it when we signed FA Bryant McFadden. McFadden was drafted in the 2nd round in 2005 and up till this year only started 10 games and only has 135 tackles in his whole career.

Your thinking is all flawed. Players drafted on good teams will find it harder to find playing time and to judge a player after one season is again flawed. Using your reasoning we would be turning over the roster almost every year.

Some guys take a couple of years to develop like McFadden and if you give up to soon you can miss out on a good player. I think a lot of teams would trade drafts with us over the last 5-6 years.

Robert Gallery has always started too. I guess he is average as well. Maybe I should have put underperforming, but no better than that IMO. He wont start next year, so what does that mean? Would anybody like to make a A$FN on that one?

Again guys, I was just commenting on what they have done THUSFAR.
