Redskins got fleeced by Reid. Amazing how Reid manages to pull off trades like this. He gets a 3rd round pick, a talented starting CB in Fuller and clears $17M in cap space.

Meanwhile all of the investments the Redskins made in Kirk Cousins prove fruitless, who now pay the 33 year old Smith close to $24M per.
Would it have been worth the Cards trading their 3rd and Baker for Smith? I'm using Baker because he's the closest equivalent the Cards have to Fuller.

As I said before dump all the money with Cousins. He’ll make this team an instant contender.

Ain’t that the truth. I want Lamar and Keenum or Bradford would be fine as a bridge. Glad we didn’t get Smith!

We should be getting a 3rd coming back as a comp pick for losing CC. Baker shows a lot of promise but is another undersized DB most likely due his share of injuries. The Smith contract is in line with what we were paying Palmer.

I'd roll the dice on that trade---better than surrendering a wheelbarrow full of draft picks on an unknown drafted QB.

Fine. Yeah I'd rather shoot for the moon with some rookie than pray that Alex Smith can limp us to 8-10 wins.

Yep, me too. The teeth gnashing over us not wasting a player and a 3rd-round pick on a QB that will never, ever win a Super Bowl, and that can't carry a team on their back, is hilarious. People don't want to risk trading anything in the draft, but some are willing to throw that away for an Alex Smith? Wow.

How far up in the draft are you wanting to move? We can start with the Trade Value chart to see how much draft capital you are willing to gamble on an unknown commodity. Which QB do you want to move on in the draft? Explain how he is better than a seasoned vet who has proven he can play in the league and who just played in the Pro Bowl?

Alex Smith has been a consistent player for several years and puts up numbers to win with. We already lost CC so his #3 pick is a wash. I'll take one of my several #1 picks that I did not trade away and replace Baker.

Someone willing to trade away multiple drafts on an unknown commodity is the person I want to play poker with.

I'd rather gamble on an unknown commodity than overpay--and even trade for--a sub-par commodity. If you believe Smith is an elite QB that can carry a team on his back, can ever win a Super Bowl--or, heck, lead a team past the first round!--I've got some ocean front land in Kansas City to sell you.

It is a moot point to rehash the Smith trade. He's off the poker table---I've stated my opinion and to continue will reveal my combative troll side and willingness to debate to the end of time. I'll no longer speak of the Smith.

come on man. Free agency doesnt start for six weeks... if we aint arguing/debating over this nonsense...what then? All we have left is mock drafts, lol.
of course... If Teddy Bridgewater comes available it wouldnt matter if smith was or not...as Teddy is obviously the far better choice,,,,

AWWW Stout----just when I thought I was out, you pulled me back in again. LOL.

I see you didn't bother to reveal how many draft choices you are willing to gamble nor did you reveal which QB you want in the draft.

I never said Smith was elite---whatever elite really means. I also don't think a QB has to be the guy who can carry a team on his back---those type of players are so rare and are seldom available by draft or trade. I want to compete, make the playoffs, take my chances with the entire team focused on winning the next couple of games and the trophy. I don't want to watch a QB merry-go-around and a team with no talent infusion because we traded away our drafts.

If you think you have a better chance than Smith by trading away several future drafts, I have a Castaway Island in the South Pacific to sell you---be sure you take your volleyball to toss around with Revis.

Oaken1---We both have the 'Argue till Hell Freezes Over' personality. I've got to stifle myself when the argument has been settled and is moot.

lol...

Me and solar been going rounds for about two weeks now... kinda enjoying it because neither of us are getting offended over it. But like you say,... the buttresses have been manned and there is no surrender on either front so after a while your just bouncing your head off the wall.

at least with most of the guys you can see their point and understand the reasoning behind it even if you disagree... in the end we all want the Lombardy trophy in arizona.

That's disheartening, and tells me Keim isn't being ambitious enough by targeting Smith.

you know how those reports are man... it could have been as simple as Keim calling and asking "hey, what are you asking for him anyway?...really? they are offering that much??, Hell I would jump on that deal Andy, see ya brother"...

Him looking at Smith tells me he was still planning to draft a guy in the first round. Cousins on the other hand would show he isnt planning on a guy before the third.

Cousins is a starting QB.... all the other guys available are bridge QB's, with Smith being the best Bridge QB. In lots of ways Smith is better than Cousins IMO,... but his age alone makes him a short term answer. not getting him is good IMO... we will sign a cheaper guy and our rookie will start sooner... because you know as well as I do,... if its november and we are at 8-2,... no coach in the league is gonna want to pull smith and put the rookie on the field.
but around that time a guy like Bradford will strain an acl or something anyway so the rookie can come right in
