I am certainly pleased to see the Cards go 2-0, but few would have expected a poorer record at this point. The Saints just lost to Tampa at home, which says the Saints might be the league's worst team.

The Chcago game looked fairly marginal until Cutler went out. I think the Cards would have won anyway, but I was hoping for more dominance.

Nice to see they are using DJ in a wide array or plays. Also good to see them targeting Fitz. I'm still hoping to see more out of Floyd. Fells was invisible. It's clear the offense has better rhythm when Ellington plays. Palmer looked great.

The fiasco at the end of the first half was concerning.

In any case the next 2 weeks should tell us where the Cards stand. They should win at SF, but I'd probably be satisfied with getting out of STL with a healthy Palmer.

the fiasco at the end of the half would have been concerning if we brought that energy into the second half like past Cards teams would have. But they didn't. They came out, got a pick, a score and scored again to step on their throat.

I do agree that we just beat two of the worst teams in the league... but that's what good teams should do. Gotta keep doing it the next two weeks in big division games.

And I'll say this... the NFC just doesn't look that strong right now. The Eagles/Cowboys look pretty mediocre. Packers... they'll be solid and so will Seattle eventually, but there's not a dominant team out there it seems this season.

We definitely have work to do to improve to be able play with the better teams.

This team has a habit of playing to the level of the opponent. We are still making really dumb mistakes that are avoidable and that we will not be able to get away with against better teams.

The next 4 games will show what direction we go in. Continue to build and improve or let the little things keep us from winning games.

Worried about the front 7 still. Looked pretty awful pre-Clausen. Also the preseason hype of JJ Nelson and Rodney Gunter was just that.

That said any road win in the NFL is a good win.

They are both home games. If Palmer keeps up some of this pace he's on track for NFL MVP. He's obviously key to keep rolling through this division. I'm liking the personnel and how balanced this team is. We're obviously not used to these kinds of BLOWOUTS, which is what this victory was.

I think Brees and Saints are far from done, let alone worst team.

No one, from what I gather, were calling them 2 of the worst teams going into the season.

Sorry about the mislocation, though my position on the games changes little. The Cards should best the Rams at home, but I'm more concerned about Palmer getting beaten up instead of just beaten.

The Bears? Are you kidding? they were expected to finish last in their division and were 4-12 last year. How is that not one of the worst teams in the league?

And the Saints were atrocious at the end of last season, losing their last FIVE home games and then traded away their best offensive player. They're atrocious.

The Rams will be AS big a test as Seattle this season, IMO.

I'm always concerned for CP's health. Have to keep him from getting hit at all costs even if we have to chip on the outside.

I'll believe it when I see this team be able to generate any kind of pass rush. The D (as odd as that sounds after having a good to great one the last three years) is pretty suspect right now.

Well, I read that the Saints would be in contention for their division, according to pundits, and that Chicago would be competitive.

But, if you want to discount these wins, feel free.

I think actually the secondary had a few breakdowns while also coming up big on some picks.

I saw some promise out of the rush, but there is no one elite rusher, it's going to require all going full out all game and I think the staff is keeping them in a good rotation as we have very decent depth on the front 7.

The NFL is week to week for the most part and as Cheesebeef said, the NFC is wide open this year. The NFC South is still down. The NFC East is a mess and even more so if Romo is going to be out for awhile. You've got Green Bay and you have to expect Seattle to be there even if they start 0-2 but after that it gets really thin. Outside of the Cardinals, who else has looked good?

Exactly and Chicago played the Packers (who is supposed to be one of the best teams in the NFC) pretty close in Green Bay last week. However that is to be expected when divisional opponents play each other. Just like the Bucs beating the Saints today. Those teams are division rivals and they know each other very well and thus you will see some unexpected results in those games.

This will be our Achilles heal. Without a consistent pass rush good QB's will find a way to rack up big yards and have a good chance to beat us.

I'm hoping bettcher gets better and better dialing up pressure and schemes as the season goes on. That's the only thing that could hold this team back (besides injuries).

Well, I read that the Saints would be in contention for their division,

the worst division in football? Great... and the only reason anyone said that is because of their past. Anyone who watched that team last year knows they're done.

according to pundits, and that Chicago would be competitive.

were these pundits from Chicago because I don't remember anyone saying that.

But, if you want to discount these wins, feel free.

where did I discount these wins? Did you not read my post where I said we've beaten two bad teams... WHICH IS WHAT GOOD TEAMS DO?

Sheesh. It's okay to say we beat two bad teams.

We have to hope he is learning on the fly like Horton did and the results start showing after a few more games. Improve week by week and have the D on all cylinders by 5th or 6th game.

True. But Brees has a quick release and Chi was bunching their O-line in that first long drive. We adjusted.

Half of Brees' passing numbers were to RB's. This week we shut down probably the best RB out of the backfield. Cutler surprised us with a few runs. We'll see how Kap does.

I agree that these were two of our easier match-ups this year. Still, good teams lose on the road all the time, so I'm pumped we're 2-0 thus far.

It feels to me we've held back on the aggressive blitz packages thus far. I expect we'll see them over the next two games. If we can't manufacture pressure... I think we may struggle to earn a wild-card slot this year.

I thought the Frosty Rucker pressure, where he completely broke up the hand off to the RB showed a bit of life for our pass rush. Also, we seemed to attack Clausen much more aggressively than we did Cutler, following a plan to allow Cutler to beat himself - and later panic Clausen into mistakes.

We should know next week for sure.
