I don't think I'd bring Rhodes in either and it has nothing to do with prejudice. The guy will be the focus of media attention and rumors will fly and while I think he's an above average player you'd have to have a huge need to willingly take on that distraction. Now, if he comes out of the closet that's a different story. He'd still be a distraction but there would be a lot of support for him inside and outside of the locker room and the story would peak and gradually disappear.

How so?

Steve

If he is being black-balled, or there is media attention because either he is gay, or no one believes him when he says he is not, it is because of the irrational fear by the big burly macho players and coaching that they might "catch the gay" from him. In other words, prejudice

he said nothing like that, he said there would be a media circus around the team kinda like signing tebow.

And why would there be a media circus...
seriously? you dont think the media will attack that like bloodhounds? This is the media we are talking about.

Id still take him vs crappy safetys but the point is valid and has nothing to do with "catching the gay"

Sure, but my point was the Club wouldn't necessarily be making that decision because of prejudice. I'm not suggesting that stupidity has left the planet all of a sudden.

Some posters here wouldn't root for him.

Teams hate dealing with things that are non-football related. He brings instant non-football media attention. It is what it is.

Jon, I think most of us see your point, I do at least. Does it help your cause to hammer on people here who are largely supportive?

We probably would have won on Sunday with him out there. Glad the Bidwills and BA need to make a statement over actually winning football games.

Mike Jurecki ‏@mikejurecki 4m
AZ offered him 1 yr 3M he turned it down. RT @therealdvoss Highly Questionable Kerry Rhodes not getting a job because of sexuality questions

Looks like we are the only team who made him an offer. I guess BA and the Bidwills were trying to bring him back at a reduced cost, nothing more and it backfired for both.

If he ever plays in the NFL again, it won't be on a team with Dockett. And, although Dockett had no effect on Sunday, I will take him over a guy who has had issues with his "Hollywood" lifestyle at Louisville, with the Jets and with the Cardinals. This "issue" is an issue that will engulf a team with interviews on CNN and LGBTV and I am glad it won't be one that involves the Cards.

I love Kerry Rhodes. Love, love, LOVE Kerry Rhodes, and am disappointed that he hasn't signed with a team yet. I love that he had some very good years out here after the Jets called him a prima donna.

Kerry obviously has friends in Hollywood and has experience in media with hosting the Big Red Rage. I don't wonder if he isn't thinking about moving into a different career.

Overrated.

By the vast majority.

Underrated by few/one.

Maybe, just maybe, the vast majority are correct and the one has to simply get over the fact that Rolle left and Rhodes was brought in to replace him.

It's my impression that many in the NFL are very religious. I don't know of any main stream religion that has softened it's stand on homosexuality.

For some it's not being homophobic but a core belief that it's a mortal sin. I do know that many people do pick and choose what aspects of their religion they can ignore. Catholics and contraception or basically any religion and premarital sex.

I wonder how Kurt Warner feels about this topic. Very religious and caring human being.

Rhodes was/is just overrated by many on here. The reason he isn't signed is because there was a strong safety market this year and Rhodes was about the 6th-7th best, maybe even lower, one available.
Goldson
Reed
Chung
Landry
Pollard
Quin
Phillips(when healthy)
Woodson
George Wilson
were all better options and available. That doesn't even include Delmas and Clemons who re-signed with their original teams.

I never noticed the Cards defense being better or worse whether Rhodes was in the lineup, or not. He's a solid player and made some nice plays for the Cards but he's very replaceable.

That being said, I'd rather have him back there instead of Johnson but I would not break the bank for him. A 1-2 year deal averaging about $1.5 mill is all I'd spend on him. I'm sure he thinks he's worth more and that's why he's still sitting at home.

I'd say only reed and goldson and--maybe-- pollard were better options, but not the rest...

whats your point? That has nothing to do with the poster you attacked.

He turned down a deal here so he has sewn his own fate.

here's what's fishy to me about the Cardinals deal. weren't there originally reports that they wanted to extend his contract and restructure...and now there's reports saying they just wanted to offer him a one year deal? seems weird that now that this story has been brought up again and that someone at a reputable sports network has brought up the issue of Rhodes sexuality, that Jurecki just now is suddenly reporting that the Cardinals offered a deal in April...one that we NEVER heard of and apparently no one else did at the time.

maybe thats what the new deal offer was - either way, that is a decent check, not a vet minimum or anything like that and he turned it down.

So maybe people can stop trying to blame dockett for him not being here.

A lot of players turn down initial deals.

Then those players get additional offers. either from the team, or other teams.
