These contracts would have been being worked on and negotiated for months you'd think, not just since Kyler's letter

Feels like an organisation that has experienced limited success overvaluing a playoff appearance.
Yeah you are probably right, which in many ways is even worse.

Couple of things to consider:
1. What is the details of the contract extension? Is it really 5 years more or are some of the years options years. Also are there any performance clauses for an early out?
2. Michael Bidwill is not a stupid business man. It would be dumb to extend 5 years and end up eating several years of contract.
3. This extension tells me that they do want Kyler and will give him his money. He won't have to worry about a new offense with KK there fro the long term.

Bottom line for me is we need know more about the contract.
Sorry, this move strongly disputes that assertion.

I'm marking these responses, if this team actually starts winning, some here will have little to pivot from where going on a crow diet will offer little absolution haha. I have no idea how this is going to play out, because I still think Kingsbury and Murray can and will get better, but I think Keim is a hopeless cause at drafting and drafting is what this team is going to have to rely on once that hobbit gets Smaug's treasure extension taking up a ton of salary cap space. Extending Keim is what keeps this team mediocre
I’d love to be wrong. I just call ‘em like I see ‘em.

I posted a few times after the season that KK and Keim were definitely not going anywhere. Extensions were more likely than firing.

But, FIVE years?!? Wow.
I too expected them to stay, though I opposed it. I certainly didn‘t expect they’d get lifetime contracts.

I don't give a damn if we're 10-0. I will not eat a single bit of crow until our team CLINCHES SOMETHING. No more backing in due to other teams. No more 0-whatever in meaningful games. Until then, it's all just a mirage.

Of course, and that's what I am talking about :)

I'll take it if I'm wrong but I doubt I will be. And I'm sticking with a full season and long term for that. A hot start will not get me to eat crow. It'll take a strong finish and playoff wins for that.

I would have been annoyed if KK got an extension. It's possible that him and Kyler can grow and improve still. The big problem to me is the Keim extension. He is who we thought he was. He's been doing it long enough now that we know who he is. He'll fleece a team in a trade now and then, can't draft, and likes to chase aging players to fill holes. That's not going to change and isn't going to build a winner. So even if KK and Kyler get better it doesn't matter if the rest of the team is like what we've seen the last 5 years.

I really hope the plan isnt to
1. Have Wesley replace AJ Green's spot
2. Use Keim's expertise to draft a 2nd or 3rd round wr
3. Bring in Danny Amendola to replace Kirk and also fill our mid 30s wr quota.

I think you are at least partially agreeing with posters who are upset with the extension of Keim and Kingsbury when you say "Extending Keim is what keeps this team mediocre."

I think it's a partnership of sorts between GM, coach and the players drafted.

Perhaps you can join us on a crow diet. :)

That only qualifies me for pickled Crow's feet and not a full entree :)

Everyone is always working for their job in the NFL.

This extension is on the basis that Kliff has improved every season. I doubt Mike would say "No bother" if we went 7-10.
I'm sure he'd be mad or whatever, but coaching salaries in the NFL are guaranteed. I doubt that Michael expects this team to win 9+ games after the roster turmoil we're likely to go through this offseason. They know what the plan is inside the building.

Do you really think that Michael Bidwill, whose sole source of income is the Arizona Cardinals and related activities, is gonna eat a five-year contract for Kingsbury (and Keim!) next year?

This isn't Chelsea. Our owner isn't an oligarch. He's a guy running a family business.

Except that even if Keim has the draft of the century this year and we become even more successful, it would still be considered a fluke. He has a proven track record that says so.

Not next year no. He'd write 1 year off as a blip anyway.

The year after though yes.

I'm with it all starts with the GM crowd. It takes a good GM to pull everything together.

If Keim would hire someone who would be in charge of the draft I would respect that.

Absolutely. Know your limitations and prepare around them.

Here's why he's one of few pro sports owners who doesnt have other significant business ventures. Many people own sports teams as a hobby and make little money.
