Yeah, the problem is, he isn't really good at the job. Wait, let me rephrase - there are few people with as long a track record as Keim at draft failure. It's documented over 9+ years.
Same problem with KK. He isn't a good head football coach, he's a creative coordinator. (and he's even said as much himself!)
"A lot of people are great at that, managing games, and that's not my strong suit. My strong suit is calling it and interacting with the quarterback. I've got to play to my strengths."
So we have a GM who can't draft, and isn't any better in FA, and a head coach who ADMITS that managing games (pretty much the main responsibility of a coach) isn't his strong suit.
LOCK THEM UP FOR 6 MORE...WHEEEEE!!!!!
I think he means, BA didn't leave because he wanted to leave...he was privately shown the door by the FO.You must believe Urb when he said he stepped down from Florida for health reasons as well.
Who are these teams exactly? One of them we swept & the other two we split games against in the regular season. I wouldn't say any of them are light years ahead of us.Coaches they like? What kind of ridiculous standard is that? Liking a coach is a justification for extension now?
You're just going to ignore the fact that two years in a row, his team failed miserably in every game that mattered?
You think if the Cards start hot and then fall apart again, that teams will look at 3 years of the same crap and say "let's get that guy!"
If that happens, I'll be the first to eat crow and say I was wrong about Kliff. But we all know where this is headed - we have tons of holes, and the wrong people to fill them. We have two teams that are light years ahead of us in the division, and another that beat us soundly when they were just playing out the string!
Who's scenario seems more likely?
That's what a winning franchise would do.
I think he means, BA didn't leave because he wanted to leave...he was privately shown the door by the FO.
xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_mediaxc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_mediaI can’t get used to Kyle O talking negatively about anything. So strange.
Is it because they won the 2nd most games in a season since they've moved to Az?I’ve never question my fandom for this team. That changed today
So you see the pattern, too?Didn't the Steelers announce BA had retired as well...he said BS and went to Colts?
6 year extensions for two guys who have never won anything will guarantee mediocrity. Why are they being rewarded ? Kliff has proven in both college and the NFL that he is not a closer. Keim has proven he doesn't know how to draft and is only capable of bringing in over the hill retreads on short term deals. Together they have never won a playoff game and are now on the verge of demonstrating they made a mistake on their second first round QB drafted in consecutive years. Long term stability is great but only if it comes with sustained success. I certainly don't blame Keim or Kliff for taking the deals. But Michael's misplaced loyalties is likely to come back to haunt him and Cardinals fans for years to come.
I feel this way too, but I think we both know we’ll all be back here on game one of the season in 2022.
He'll be back sooner than you think. Like game 1
I would love to hear where you have seen Kliffy grow as a coach. More creative offensive schemes? Heck no! Better play calling in the red zone? Lol. Time management/situational play? Lol. Ability to adjust ? LolzI wanted to move on from Keim purely because I think his best teams are older and built on trades and free agency.
Kliff has grown as a coach and deserves way more leeway.
But five year extensions after the end of last year? No thank you.
I do see the continuity perspective though.
I think he was talking about his beard. That's the only thing that makes sense.I would love to hear where you have seen Kliffy grow as a coach. More creative offensive schemes? Heck no! Better play calling in the red zone? Lol. Time management/situational play? Lol. Ability to adjust ? Lolz
The timeline now:
Cardinals enter into negotiations with Kk's agent on an extension.
Agent tells Kyler that Kingsbury and Keim are getting rewarded for a successful season.
Agent asks Keim about Kyler. Is told no and he has to prove himself after the end of the year while he is getting rewarded.
Kyler feels he is being scapegoated for the end of the season when the two guys above him are getting paid.
Agent has Kyler send a message via social media that he needs to be paid too.
Front office (Keim) leaks multiple negative stories about Kyler. These were likely what was used as the reason for justifying the end of the season.
Kyler issues a rebuttal
Michael doesn't let Keim go on the local radio as standard so he doesn't make the situation worse
Michael says he loves Kyler.
Kylers agent issues a response to Michael.
Extensions signed for Kliff and Keim.
Deadline put on Murray's extension
I would have taken a Billy Davis firing at least.and . . . what about Vance? . . . . . . crickets ...
