Couple of things to consider:
1. What are the details of the contract extension? Is it really 5 years more or are some of the years options years. Also are there any performance clauses for an early out?
2. Michael Bidwill is not a stupid business man. It would be dumb to extend 5 years and end up eating several years of contract.
3. This extension tells me that they do want Kyler and will give him his money. He won't have to worry about a new offense with KK there for the long term.

Bottom line for me is we need know more about the contract.
Objection! Assertion not in evidence!
Its 5 years. They already had next year.
They already had 2023 as an option year, I believe. At least for Kliff. Now it's guaranteed and for what reason?
Here's why he's one of few pro sports owners who doesnt have other significant business ventures. Many people own sports teams as a hobby and make little money.
Not NFL owners. Many NFL owners own their team as a hobby and make a ton of money with it also.

You know instagram is burning up with DMs to thots asking if they want a ride on the team plane.

Well , it shows we are committed to failure.
People will point out that we went from "three wins to the playoffs" which is fine, but this team's ceiling under KM is likely a first-round bounce. KM lacks leadership and discipline, I also feel like the league has really figured him out as well, and SK can't draft.

Michael Bidwill:
I hear voices in my head
they council me
they understand
they talk to me

Lyrics from Rev Theory song Voices.

The mood in this music video certainly fits the mood in this thread.

This is the last straw. I'm done. I was already teetering if they didn't fire at least VJ and preferably Keim. To give Keim and KK these extensions? I't disgusting. They've lost me. I'm not going to stick to another 5 years of mediocrity. The start of last year was fools gold thanks to Keim signing the 2014 all pro team but we see where that got us by the end of the year. Now we have $10 for cap space and have a million holes to fill in large part due to Keim's drafting. This team is a joke and that's not going to change any time soon. So I'm done buying anything Cards and blacking out their games. Bidwill can win me back by making the right moves but I think we're years from that happening thanks to these new contracts. I'm not sticking with this insanity anymore. 33 years of this ineptitude have been enough.

Best meltdown post! :beer::hacker::doi::beer::bang::beer::computer:

These aren't player contracts.

They are personal services contracts and are guaranteed save for some moral turpitude clauses.

And they are private.

I'm with it all starts with the GM crowd. It takes a good GM to pull everything together.

If Keim would hire someone who would be in charge of the draft I would respect that.

A former scout, a former head of scouting who now runs a team including amateur and pro scouting doesn't turn over this final say and responsibility to anyone.

It's the JOB!

Keim has the job security of a Supreme Court Justice. He will be around long enough to draft Zaven Collins Jr and convert him into an off-ball linebacker, too.

It certainly pays to be bros with the boss. What a joke.

There goes the faintest of faint glimmer of hope.

Yeah, the problem is, he isn't really good at the job. Wait, let me rephrase - there are few people with as long a track record as Keim at draft failure. It's documented over 9+ years.

Same problem with KK. He isn't a good head football coach, he's a creative coordinator. (and he's even said as much himself!)

"A lot of people are great at that, managing games, and that's not my strong suit. My strong suit is calling it and interacting with the quarterback. I've got to play to my strengths."

So we have a GM who can't draft, and isn't any better in FA, and a head coach who ADMITS that managing games (pretty much the main responsibility of a coach) isn't his strong suit.

LOCK THEM UP FOR 6 MORE...WHEEEEE!!!!!

The only reason I would have even considered making this move as an owner would be if the plan was to bring in an actual offensive coordinator and take it out of Kliff's hands.

Even then I probably would've Canned him...

I feel this way too, but I think we both know we’ll all be back here on game one of the season in 2022.

They both unequivocally should've been fired and not extended, but if you extend, do a short-term extension, like 2-3 years.

I can see giving a short extension just to give them 1 more fair shot at it without being a lame duck, but this seems beyond excessive.

At least the Cards should be entertaining prior to the Suns season starting.

No judgement from me, my friend. It's a personal value of mine that I dont believe in rewarding mediocrity, especially as handsome as it's being rewarded here, which is why I'm struggling to support this franchise more than I have in the past.

i think Mike B's margin for error with the fans is very, very, very small now

they better have a good season next year --

the team could through some bad luck and injuries be the 2022 version of the Browns -- and things would get ugly

on the other hand -- Mike B has lots of money, so if he wants to eat 10 years of contracts to make a change in the future, who am i to tell him what to do.
