I have been adamant about not wanting Amare back, it seems like every 3 or 4 months for the past 3 years a post is made floating the idea of trading for him and it boggles my mind. However, should Amare be bought out the team that signs him for the remainder of the year would likely be paying pittance.
Amare is a complete disaster on defense, and he is a shadow of his former self on offense, but still very efficient on that end in short spells. Our backup options at PF are horrible defensively, horrible on the glass and pretty bad on offense too. We have a huuuuuge discrepancy in success when Markieff is out of the game vs in it, and I think that has every bit to do with how bad our reserves are than his own quality.
Getting Amare would likely solve a lot of our front court rotational issues... or it would completely blow up in our face and cannonball the season. If he gets bought out, I'd roll the dice. A death-knell to the current roster or a strong uptick in its success... either would be a welcome change.
