Look at it this way too---the Cardinals didn't use the #5 pick on a younger QB...nor did they surrender it to get Kolb. So, in essence we got the QB we wanted and Patrick Peterson (who could well be the best player in the draft) for DRC and a 2012 #2. That's some good maneuvering on the Cardinals' part!

The Cardinals bid against themselves. I mean, I'm happy to have Kolb on board, but DRC and a #2? Maybe DRC and a #5 at the most.

If DRC just ends up being a flake with flashes of greatness, I'm ok with that. But if the Eagles can harness him, then Kolb better be taking us to the playoffs the next 6 years.

Don't think other teams weren't seriously interested in Kolb but the Cardinals were playing high stakes poker with their offer and dropped out early. And like joeshmo said, the Eagles could have kept him.

I do understand your frustration about the Cardinals offer, but I do not think he would be a Cardinal any other way.

He signed a 5 year extension along with the trade....
I was speaking in terms of leverage. He would've walked away from the eagles next year for nothing in return. The DRC trade is understandable, but not the #2.

It is according to NFL channel. Sounds like a 2 year tryout if you ask me with 20 mil guarenteed. If it doesn't work out and hes a bust well at least we tried to and then maybe John Skelton will be ready.

A little more comforting at least...

Glad we finally have our QB. Welcome to the Cardinals, KK. Now get on a plane and get your ass to camp. :D

I would think reservations are being made as we speak. Although Michael could fly to TX and pick him up I guess! lol

So if it is an extension, can he report right away instead of the August 4th date where a "new contract" would have forced him to wait for?

for all my return to the darkside non-sense, if we get Fitz signed to an extension and add solid WORTHWHILE CB and I'm okay with this trade.

Good question. He is still under (previous) contract, so I would say yes.

:signAsomugha:

That will make this trade ok IMO.

The key is the guaranteed money. $20M. Seems reasonable. Plus---if he proves to be the franchise QB---we have him for 6 years at a very reasonable per annum.

Look---Kolb is the guy Whiz and the Cardinals picked out and wanted. We have heard all the debates about him. The talent is there. And so will be the desire on Whiz's part to turn Kolb into a winner. Plus. Fitz likes him. Hate to have to give up DRC and a 2nd rounder---but all things considered, this is a gutsy and bold move by the Cardinals---one that was made with conviction.

And when does that ever happen? I have a feeling there are a few more tricks up their sleeves, especially considering how much room we have left on the cap.

Speaking of tricks up their sleeves, don't signing bonuses now count towards the cap?

A #2, a Pro Bowl corner, and $63 million. Holy balls.

If this guy isn't the second coming of Dan Marino we are in big trouble.

Dan Marino would have been worth multiple 1st round picks and would make at least $100 million in this market.

wow....With no one else inquiring about Kolb, and the fact that hes leaving next year as a FA, the cards got screwed in every facet of this deal. DRC and a 2nd round pick, absolutely horrible business decision, everyone knows it, except the cards FO. Eagles FO >>>>>>>>> Cards

Imagine where the Cardinals would if they had signed Mike Vick instead of the Eagles.

I do not believe so. Even a restructure would not allow him to be on a practice field until August 4th. Have to wait for new league year for new contracts to go into effect, espeically since his current years salary will probably be adjusted.
