The team moving out of Phoenix would be the ultimate nightmare. I can't even comprehend what that would be like.

It wouldn't be bad for Suns fans living in LA.

San Diego Suns? I like it.

screw that. I root for the place I was raised, not some traveling circus led by a penny pinching P.T. Barnum.

By all accounts Kerr is a class guy. He is not the type to lob grenades on the way out. Kerr knows the perception of Sarver and money. I think he is taking the high road. Having said that....I believe this was all about the money.

Why does anyone think they can get high pick/picks for Hill . He plays on one year deals. Why trade for him if he's just going to return to the Suns the next year... or retirel.

Nash has two years on his contract:

2010-11 $10.3 million
2011-12 $11.7 million

Thats kind of high for a role player.

a) who said "high pick" for hill? i think he'd be worth a 29 - 32nd pick in the draft for a contender looking for a roleplaying defensive/offensive swing.

b) most teams wouldn't be looking at nash as a "role player" yet. and his salary is still relatively reasonable for a contender looking for the "missing piece."

The only way the Suns would end up in San Diego is if the ownership were selling TO a group in San Diego--not because most of them are there now. But as noted above, it would be moving from a bigger market to a smaller one, with entrenched regional competition already present.

+1 seriously. How you call a guy putting up MVP numbers a role player AND overpaid... yikes.

so maybe you'll back off on the "i'll always be a suns fan no matter what" comment? looks like someone on the board came up with a scenario where we all might hate the suns forever afterall. yeesh. this is so drastic i can't really give it legitimate thought.

I hope this post isn't serious. I see a .00000001% chance of the team moving from Phoenix. As bad as Stern is, he would never allow it, not when the city gives it so much support.

That's the thing. I can't think of any team in any sport that had a nice facility and an enthusiastic fan base that has ever moved.

Maybe the Raiders but the coliseum isn't exactly a nice facility.

Lets never forget he chased off a Coach who led the team to their most successful 4 year run...

That was a good thing in my book. I loved D'Antoni while he was here but he was stubborn and refused to concentrate a little more on defense. I like how we ended up with Gentry instead.

Great. I just have a bad feeling about all this. The trickle down affect Kerr stepping down will have is what worries me. Now Griff is out?

This really isn't shaping up to be a good summer at all. Sarver is a real piece of work.

BTW, was told Griff's resignation has been a standing threat, but may or may not be official. I don't know now. Just know there's a boat load of melodrama in that building and people are making excuses for appointments etc. to not be there right now.

What the FRACK is going on? Guys I bet the discussion went like this:

Sarver - "Griff, your next in line for the GM spot....you interested?
Griff - "Absolutely. I would be honored. When do we discuss salary? I would expect a GM salary".
Sarver - "Uhhh....there wouldn't be any additional compensation at this time."
Griff - "I am not sure I would want the job without being compensated fairly."
Sarver - "Think about it"

1 hour later...... (Jacque Cousteau accent)

Griff *Screw this....this is an insult. I am going to quit*
Griff - "Mr. Sarver, I don't think the organization is showing enough respect after all the time and effort I have given to this organization. I would like to tender my resignation."
Sarver - "Can I promote someone from our scouting department? Where is Ced Ceballos?....He will work for cheap".

For those of us struggling to read between the lines, can you possibly go into more detail explaining what the deal is? That article was pretty negative, but didn't tell us anything we didn't know. OR DID IT?

The last paragraph probably says more than one realizes. Philosophical differences played a role in Kerr's departure, among other things.

Sarver doesn't do business the NBA way, which is to reward and lavish the organization for success. He goes to the table and expects to pay what he considers the market is and won't really budge. He doesn't renegotiate in the middle of a contract. He doesn't really take into any other factors, like organizational morale. He's genuinely surprised at the hurt feelings people have in his organization over this.

i don't think it'll happen either, but you said there was no way you'd bail on the team, and i think a move might be that way, no matter how remote the possibility of it happening.

Well, if they did leave, they would no longer be my team, so they'd be the ones bailing.

I have to wonder when the Republic is just going to let him have it. Any other big city with big sports woudl be crucifying him.

I mean, for YEARS, they shredded the Bidwills and for good and completely warranted reasons, yet it seems like the Suns are almost always protected. I mean, I can remember articles praising Terry Porter because "he was going to bring a tough defensive mind" to the game... this was a guy who accomplished NOTHING with the Pistons and came aboard AFTER their defensive dominance where they made the Finals twice, not to mention as a HC, his teams were awful defensively. He was a cheap HC... nothing more, nothing less and yet the Republic didn't say a word.

Here's the simple fact: A team with our success level over the last 6 years shouldn't have well respected and coveted GMs, Coaches (I hated DA but he was still a successful coach) and Superstar FAs who want to get the hell out of dodge the second they can. There's something wrong at the top when that consistently happens.
