The Cardinals have chosen to sign DA. Could they be using their third round pick for a trade for more help for our defense?

This would please me. He's not without blemishes, but I feel he would be a solid vet #2. Draft a rookie QB to develop, and focus on the defense in the draft. We still need to get a vet ILBer, though. Hopefully, this puts to bed all the talk of Whitehurst, if it happens.

As to drafting QBs, I recall when Green Bay used to take one in every draft for a stretch of years, and it really payed dividends for them. Too many good prospects on the roster? Then trade one! I know they did this with Hasselbeck, and I think a few other guys, but off the top of my head I can't remember who.

I like this better than giving up picks for Whitehurst.

Not me. I am concerned Whitehurst is going to come back to haunt us in Seattle.

Oh well. Hope both these 3rd rounder turn into the starters everyone is assuming they are.

Good to hear. This was the guy (besides Thigpen, whom never was going to see the open market anyway) that I wanted the Cardinals to sign as competition to Leinart.

Yet, the Cardinals should write into the contract that one of these be installed in Anderson's backyard.

I hope Seattle does sign him. They'll have to cough up compensation and, IMO, will get a bad QB prospect.

Before we flame away, folks, it is IMO only :)

I am very pleased with this move. Much more than taking a shot with Whitehurst.

On to the next move...

With the help we need on defense, having 2 3rd's is huge in this deep defensive draft.

Exactly. I think this was our best route to go. Anderson's not great, but he has at least shown he can win some games at the NFL level. Whitehurst was a complete unknown and I would much rather keep the pick for this draft. Do you guys think we had an issue with compensation with SD or was DA our first option all along and we used Whitehurst as leverage?

I think DA was the back up (no pun intended) plan all along. Russian roulette by playing with draft picks for leverage IMO.

I hope Seattle doesn't pick up Whitehurst, not because he scares me, I just don't want to hear the moaning anytime he does anything resembling NFL QB play.

Ditto!!!

Man, I spent way too much time on the Liverwurst issue yesterday... A 3rd rounder for a dude who's been in the league for 4 years and has NEVER taken an offical NFL snap???? Ever??

Thank god we're not going down that road. And yes, I HOPE Seattle is stupid enough to waste a 34d rounder on the guy! Go For It!!!!

Anderson has isues for sure. But he is by far the only one in this hapless group of FA's that can give Matty some serious competition! Love it!! Go get 'em Derek!!!

You say that like you "know" whitehurst is going to be some perennial PB QB?

Yup Considering they have similar physical qualities and Anderson has had 4 years of bad coaching and Whitehurst has inarguably had great coaching the last 4 years, I like the unknown of Whitehurst better then Anderson's known flaws. Plus Whitehurst is more accurate then Anderson which to me is a key predicator of future success.

But I like that we won't be giving up a 3rd round pick so its all gravy.

You know this because of Whitehurst's NFL completion % over his 4 years in the league??
