If the Cardinals want to part ways with Kyler it would have to come in a trade for a top 5 pick.

They would have to love a qb in this draft. The Giants, Titans, Jets and the Raiders are all candidates looking for a qb. I think any one of those teams would trade their 1st pick for Murray.
I’m 98% sure this won’t happen.

If you're a traits guy, why wouldn't you bring in Trey Lance, Zach Wilson, and Clayton Tune and let them all compete for the job?

Also, did you know that Jack Plummer, who grew up in Gilbert but is somehow not related to Jake Plummer, is "playing" in the NFL?
Because it seems obvious Lance is atrocious. Zach? Don’t think I would have a big problem with that.

The only thing that gives me even a little hope for Kyler is how much better Baker has been ever since he was signed by a team with an elite OL and two elite WRs. Mike Evans and Godwin are king makers. Of course Baker has always been a lot tougher than Kyler, and a much better leader than Kyler.
Baker was also successful with Cleveland before his injury. Kyler has not been with the Cards.

People rightfully killing Kyler for doing about the same, different cast around each though to make the wins and losses different.

True but Geno Smith has been a better QB than Kyler over the past 3 years. Dude has 26 wins to Kyler's 13.
Well Kyler did miss like 17 games due to a non-contact ACL in that stretch. They're both about .500 quarterbacks, Geno has the better supporting cast of course.

My point has always remained: let's talk about the issues with Kyler, not do mental gymnastics trying to make Purdy and Geno superior players just to get digs in. I can assure you that both the 49ers and Seahawks would trade their QB's (and I know this for a fact with SF) straight up for Kyler in a millisecond.

I think, unless and until we begin to get solid reports of extra hours in the film room and intense mental study above and beyond normal, you will continue to read about the Call of Duty stuff. Kyler himself admitted his poor work ethic in that regard by talking about not needing excessive film study because he can just "See the field." Since then, we've gotten other maturity changes (in the offseason) but no reported changes in this sphere.

Many things can be true at once I'm afraid.

It was extremely embarrasing to add that contract clause about "independent study time".
It was also extremely concerning that it had to be thought about in the first place.

Looking back on that with a bit more perspective...... I think we can all can come to some educated conclusions.

Our ownership is dumb.
Our GM was dumb.
Our QB may have needed those guardrails.
Our weak front office succumbed to public scrutiny.
We probably shouldn't have made the investment with the in-house insider knowledge we possessed.
6 years of weakening (or cratering) performance in the back half of a season is a predictable trend.

Agreed.

I kept banging on the drum that we were re-signing Kyler a year too early, that he still had to much to prove. Most of the posters agreeing with the move were only doing so as a bow to necessity anyway. If Keim had just been smart enough to wait a year, we wouldn't be in nearly as big a mess as we are right now.

Kyler derangement syndrome run amok once again.

Guys - it’s okay to criticize Kyler without heaping praise on proven mediocrity like Brock Purdy or Geno Smith or Kliff as a head coach.

Mate, Purdy has been to a Superbowl. He made the playoffs every year until this year. He's been, in every measurable way, far superior in the league than Kyler.

Geno Smith has also outplayed Kyler the last 3 years and played multiple playoff games.

Anyone that thinks Kyler is not worse than them is deranged.

Yes. I don't see how you would pass up a 1st round pick for Kyler. I also don't think a team would but...who knows.

I don't see how they get a 1st. All the QB needy teams suck and draft top 10.

At best maybe you get a pick swap, a 1st for a 2nd, but I think teams would need to be high even for that.

The Ryan Tannehill Miami trade is the benchmark here, a 4th plus a pick swap. What has Kyler done that's better than Miami Tannehill?

There's really no mental gymnastics involved. Most NFL fans would take both those guys over Kyler. As would most analysts.

Tannehill was 31 when that trade happened. That’s craaaaaazzzzzy

And Kyler will be 28 next season. Given Kyler's late season woes and injury history this is closer to the mark than a 1st. Maybe you get a 3rd. Plus the contract.

The truth in a jungle of hyperbole.

Move on from K1 sure but please don't tell me how Purdy and Geno are better.

They are in no way better.

We take the dead money.
They take the 2 to 4 years of control at a discounted price to them.
There will be competition.
We get a first or second IMO.

Or..... We keep him and play nice.

Whats everyone opinion on Malik Willis. Could be another qb rejuvenate his career. Laufluer had him looking

Yes and if Bidwill would have been smart enough to hold off on Keim and Kingsbury things would be different.

If Kyler is add bad as you continue to claim, how can you justify another team giving up a top 5 pick? Based on your continued assessment, I'd say he's worth a 5th pick at best.

Tannehill missed the entirety of his 2017 season and I’m sure he wasnt on walkabout.

Their values are definitely closer now than anyone would have thought 12 months ago.
