Ah, I thought you was just talking from a pure personality standpoint.I actually think that Shanny is more rigid in his offense than most other coaches in the NFL. I think that's why he can get a lot out of less-talented QBs than a lot of guys. The creativity he was looking for in Trey Lance definitely is within a broader structure. I don't think Kyler would get along with him at all.
I think the jury is very much out on whether Mike McDaniel is a good coach, so I'm not going to put him in the same conversation as Shanny and McVay. We'll see in a couple years.
McVay dumped a fairly solid QB in Goff because he was risk-averse. He hand-picked a QB in Stafford who worked within the structure of his offense and can make all the throws his offense dictates. I dunno.
I also agree with you on McDaniel, but I know a lot of “NFL Analyst nerds” like the guys at TheRinger, Kevin Clark, The Athletic, Mina Kimes, etc, love him already.
