Bummer, not only does he have to deal with terrible situation, but now he could lose a lot of money. I would think he would hope to go undrafted now so he can choose his team and the best offer. That may at least help him in the long run.

I imagine someone will take a flyer in the draft.

I do too, but if you are going late 6th or 7th round, you are better off going undrafted so you can pick the perfect fit for you. IMHO

When you are 21 and a star football player and a 29 year old woman is sniffing around your jock, RUN. He may not be involved but when you make stupid decision on who you sleep with, this is the extreme repercussions of that.

my god ...would be very gruesome story if he is guilty

i follow soccer in europe, rarely a player has off field severe issues

maturing as a professional player and human being is a long journey.it is start from childood, then high school ,college ....

what those guys do.they are not studying i think ,not values, not a moral code, just playing?

Soccer has more than it's share of thugs.... They're just sitting in the stands is all. :D

His agent issued a statement saying he won't sign with a team if he is selected after the third round.

so he can re-enter the draft next year....if he signs a contract he cannot do that.

he was pegged as a first round talent.......if his name is cleared, he should still go by the second round next year...third at worst I would guess....but possibly even late first.

why sign a fifth rd contract when you can wait a year and actually get some guarantees?

The NFL told him that they will not let him enter next years draft so its either this year or no year for him.

There it is there. He will have to do what the draft dictates this year and he may not get drafted.

Until he is cleared of any wrong doing it will be tough for a club to take a chance on him. Maybe in the 7th

if drafted but doesnt sign, can re-enter. if undrafted, cannot.
That's what I read online, but ESPN reported earlier today on TV that they wouldn't let him re-enter even if he does get drafted. Idk if that's true, but that's what they said.

He would be smart to let a good team draft him so he can come in to a solid locker room and be surrounded by good character guys. Put in the work for a few years and then get paid if he succeeds.

I agree because the later he goes the smaller the contract gets and if he didn't come out and say he wouldn't sign with a team he would have been drafted right now and they could say hey if you're as good as you think you are than we'll pay you for it when it comes time to renew your contract, but right now he is on pace to be out of the league within the next 2 years.

Exactly how I look at it.

incorrect. Regardless of performance a players second contract is influenced by where they were drafted. If he allows himself to be drafted in the fifth round vs even the second round next year...he will never make up for that financial loss.
the best thing he can do is clear his name completely then go to work with one of these o-line training facilities to keep his skills sharp and keep learning. He may still go in the first round next year.

NO,.....what the NFL told him,...is they will not let him withdraw from THIS draft and enroll in the supplemental draft later this summer....he is stuck in this draft.....however, he is not obligated to sign a contract....and NFL regulations state clearly that any player who does not come to a contract agreement with the team that drafted them can then re-enter the next years draft.

they will not let him back out of this draft...that is all.
