If our o-line doesnt get its act together, I can see it as more of a priority. We have two rookies that can be easily groomed to take over. And if (big IF) anderson excels, he is young enough to be the future

I think our OLine will improve just by going back to their original positions by changing from a lefty back to a righty qb. Just a thought.

But the difference is, Whis will now take the heat for the losses. If it was Leinart in there, he would be the reason and final proof of getting rid of him would have gone without contention.

You really think the HC gets no heat if you lose with Matt at the helm?

im sorry, but this was really dumb! a back up that has never seen a regular season game. sure he played well against the seconds but he will be going up against the best. i think he should have kept matt as a back up because he couldn't be any worse than da when da sucks it up. o well thats why i guess i'm not the coach. we will see how this plays out.... :( well i will try the glass half full thingy on this :)

I hope Leinart develops into a quality QB in this league, but I am not going to take it as any type of lock. His best options would be to go to Indy, New England, or someplace else with a legit starter to mature under.

Didn't he have that with Kurt that last couple of years?

My point was that he has not shown that he is mature enough to be a starting NFL QB, and so he would benefit going to a team that has a structure of how things are done, and could get through his thick skull.

LMAO... "coddle"?? Who the hell gets "coddled" in the NFL?? YOU either step up to the challenge and become a leader, or YOU don't.
Matty's issues are part talent, with huge dose of lacking "want-to"!

I'm not saying that Matty won't become a starter somehwere else... I hope he does actually... because he will then finally be exposed for who he is, and the focus will cease to be placed on Whiz's "mistreatment" of poor 'lil "Matty! ;)

Not sure if you're watching Hard Knocks but Mark Sanchez is the most coddled player in the NFL. Rex Ryan runs around screaming at everyone and dropping F bombs the whole show but Sanchez has been their worst player all through preseason and it's all pats on the butt and giggles when the coaches see him. Maybe Matty should go play for the Jets?

BS - coaches don't do that. Ask 82.

So it is official. Bust.

No matter what happens from here out with him, in the eyes of the Cardinal fans it will be known as just that a bust.....

I remember back when he was drafted thinking this is going to get us to the super bowl one day. Instead it was a guy that bagged groceries, and I actually feel better it happened on grocery boys shift!!!

Half time of the Notre Dame game some donkey just said he talked to Whiz and he told him it was more about Max Hall then it was about ML. He said Whiz said Hall outplayed all our QB this preseason.

It kind of did get us to the Superbowl. If Matty wasn't such a bust and had actually won the QB job in camp in '08, we wouldn't have experienced Kurt taking us to Tampa.

I might have missed it, but was up at camp 2 days and never once saw Whiz or any other coaching laying into Matty. I did see Whiz get in the face of several other players however (Deuce, Keith, DRC...), but never Matty...

His coach didn't want him. More importantly, his teammates didn't want him. No one said, "We're behind Matt, he's our guy." throughout all of camp. The only time they said that was back last winter before DA was signed. You watch the body language on the field. Matt had lost his own team. It happened the same way when he lost the position to Warner. The scuttle butt in the locker room was that Warner was just a better leader and tha Matt really lacked in leadership qualities. The job was there for him to take and he did not take it. Only a bad coach makes that guy the starter.

Since he failed there, he is just in the way. He had to go.

BTW, it doesn't matter where the guy is drafted (or not drafted), all that matters is how good he is. It is refreshing to have a coach who will put all the preconceptions of the past behind him and evaluate based upon what he sees in the present.

The old Cardinals would have limped through a year or more with a miserable Matt and finally realized that he just did not have what it takes, this team would have broken up and we would have begun again that continuous cycle of tinkering and rebuilding.

It was just this type of bold decision that made Warner the starter over Leinart.

Well not really happy with the move, I would have loved to see what Leinart could have done against the rams... But I have faith in the coaching staff with the decision to go with Anderson. I do like the fact Hall is our number 2 qb I have a lot of faith in him.
But atleast we will some deepballs to our wr's this year which we wouldn't have with Leinart. Should be a intresting season GO CARDS!!!!

So Max Hall is now our "Jim Sorgi/Curtis Painter", too bad we don't have a Preston Manning.

P.S. I know Sorgi is no longer in Indy.

Could be that Max Hall is our next Jim Hart? If Matt is gone then I am behind the Coach and GM. They no a lot more than me and see him day in an day out in practice and in the locker room. They have a feel for how he is looked upon by his fellow players. He had his shot and failed the test. Best to move on now than waste more years and more money. Time to get behind the the players and that includes the QB's. The team is and always has been more important than any one player.

It just doesn't make any sense that a kid so talented out of college could be such a bust. I kept expecting him to turn things around and now he won't have that chance (not here at least). :bang:

Sense of entitlement, everybody owes him. That type of thing just doesn't sit with Whiz. Look at Docket. He is rewarded, not because he doesn't think he has it coming, but he went out and PROVED it by working harder than anyone else.

BTW, if you think a coach who made a football career out of being a 7th round pick (playing and coaching) will have any qualms about playing UFA rookie, think again.
