I think you're right in that we won't be targeting Pat or Prince with our first round pick, but I think we'll add another corner at some point in the draft and possibly even FA as well. I'd be very happy adding Ras-I Dowling or Brandon Harris with our 2nd rounder or adding someone like Richard Marshall via FA.

But we really need to address our pass rush in a major way.

Brandon Harris has given every indication he is staying at Miami another year and it would take a 1st round pick to get him. If anyone wants a sleeper, if he is available in the 2nd round, it would be Allen Bailey DE/DT, U of Miami. My guess is Patriots take him 1st with one of their multi picks.

I have a feeling that we'll go by round:
1. Pass rusher (DE/OLB).
2. Pass blocker (OT).
3. Pass catcher/blocker (TE).

The latest news I've heard on Harris is that on Wednesday, he said he hasn't given much thought to whether he'll declare or stay. I haven't seen or heard anything that says he's given every indication he's staying.

He's considered a first round talent, yes, but there has been plenty of players who fall into the early part of the second round in past drafts...That's why I said I would love to get him in the second ;)

And yeah, I love Allen Bailey, but I don't consider him a sleeper. He's made his name known amongst the scouting circles and there's been a lot of print on him as of late.

OK...

But are we certain that we are number #5 based on the following?

(Note: Strength of schedule is the combined records of a team's 16 opponents, including games played against the team in question, and counting divisional opponents twice. Because of this, each team's opponents' combined wins and losses—counting a tie as a half-win, half-loss—will add up to 256, so a team whose opponents had more combined wins has a better strength of schedule.)

This from the Miami Herald, and one of numerous articles saying the same.

Miami Hurricanes' Brandon Harris expects to return

BY SUSAN MILLER DEGNAN

University of Miami junior cornerback Brandon Harris wears No. 1 on his jersey.

And now, he's waiting to see if the letter that comes from the NFL College Advisory Committee projects that he will be taken in round No. 1 of the upcoming draft.

But even that doesn't necessarily mean Harris is off to the NFL.

On Tuesday, Harris said there would ``definitely be, I'd say, [an] 85 percent chance'' of returning for his senior season.

``I'm very high on this university and this football team and when I signed here I was fully committed to it,'' he said. ``It's just an option that I'm not ruling out right now at all. It's an opportunity. Obviously, I have to think about it and make a decision. I'm real high on being here.''

Alan Bailey has been getting minimal attention since the pre season. Shannon messed him up big time. Kept moving him inside. His combine numbers should be eye popping and I see him as a DE. As of now I don't see him listed on anyones 1st round chart. ( except Belichik :D )

If we're completely married to the 3-4 (which I believe to be folly with our personnel) then Robert Quinn would be an instant upgrade as a rushbacker.

But I hope we see how much better we play as a 4-3 and take Bowers if he's available. Bowers has Julius Peppers-like size and athleticism.
My thoughts exactly.

Please draft Quinn front office. I don't care if we get Prince or Peterson, they will get torched if we don't have a pass rush. I see our draft going down like this:

1) Quinn
2) OT
3) ILB
4) TE

People who are casually passing on the idea of adding Patrick Peterson or Prince Amukamara please watch them in their bowl games. You don't pass on great talent, especially at the top of the draft. Both players are over 6'0" and also very athletic. Especially in a NFC that has Green Bay, Philidelphia, and New Orleans who all go 3-4 deep at WR.

I understand the need for a pass rush, but Quinn comes with a ton of question marks, and these corners have elite potential. Reaching for need is what gets many teams at the top of the draft in trouble, and I don't want to be that team again.

1-Luck
2-P Peterson
3-P Amukamara
4-DeQuan Bowers (if he could play standing up, he might be 2)
5-Cam Newton/Robert Quinn (they both scare me)

Passing on one Peterson was bad enough. Don't do it again.

Agreed. However I have Bowers #2. Peterson #3. Newton #4. And Prince #5.

I don't understand the desire for a guy ( quinn ), with a top ten pick, who hasn't played in over a year, due to suspension. BTW, might want to keep in mind that the ACC is offensively challenged and some ACC defenders look all world for a reason, and it is the wrong reason.

If the Cards draft for a reach with their pick, I hope it is Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama. This running back, by committee, is born out of no one good enough to be the #1 full time back.

My only question about Bowers is that I am pretty sure that we are not transitioning to a 4-3, and I am not sure of his ability to play standing up as an 3-4 OLB. If he can show this ability heading into the draft, I would have no problem elevating where I rank him.
