I'm sorry but another year with Cameron Spikes starting at guard is a waste

Exactly.

Either the Cards sign an OL (ie: Solomon Page) or they go with Reggie Wells (just see the main article on the Cards web site - Green says Reggie is good and is going to want to remain a starter

Clement didn't really set the world on fire last year as well, with the exception of in the bathroom on chili night....Watching a speed end make him look like a fool again this year would be pretty annoying, hopefully it was the "coming off on an injury" year, and he will be more consistent this year.

I'd like to jump on the Wells bandwagon. Unfortunately, the image that comes to mind is Wells getting knocked flat on his back with both feet in the air by Lance Johnstone (Lance ******* Johnstone!), and McCown then getting blasted.

I'm in the "this is mind games" camp. Wells needs confidence, the vets get a fire lit under their ass. Come training camp, everyone is hungry to prove themselves. By game 1, I think Shelton is starting and Wells is inactive.

Lecky and Stepanovich hopefully will figure into the mix as well.

aj I hope to god you are right.

LJ Shelton is our best, most consistent, and most talented OL! It is utterly silly that he has been benched IMO.

Green has a lot of credibility but he lost some with this bassackwards move!

I'm not too concerned yet. We've seen so many of these minicamp depth charts later have nothing to do with the starting lineup in game 1. Last year, Larry Foster and Bryan Gilmore were our top WRs in the June minicamp.

Shelton hasn't been there, it sounds like he's not in shape. It really could be as simple as wanting the unit out there that will run the crispest reps right now.

DG 9 years with NO losing seasons. 9 straight years with no losing seasons.
8 out of those 9 years made the playoffs. Won 4 division titles. Won 15 games in one season. Set the all time scoring record in the NFL. Had a number 1 defense in the NFL. NFL coach of the year two times. NCAA coach of the year. Voted in PFW the best GM from 95-2000.

“We are not over the salary cap,” stated Green. “We are going to play the best five guys in the right positions. We’ve got the right players right now. We will look to add a few more but we are not ever going to be concerned about what a guy makes and a guy’s role will not be based on what he makes either. I think Reggie Wells wants to be a player in this league and he’s worked very hard and I think he’ll want to hold on to a starting position whether it be right tackle or right guard.”

Shelton was not available for comment on the switch.

Even if I'm not, the o-line has been a major disappointment the last two seasons. I'm willing to give Green a full rein to build the team to his liking. I keep thinking about the bonus he gets if we make the playoffs. So, that, along with his ego, convinces me he is very serious about winning sooner rather than later. That, and the memory of the humiliating defeats of the last two years gives me some patience. I mean, he surely can't do worse can he?

He'll get til at least game 8 until I seriously rip any move they make. At that point, we should see improvement over last seasons crap. Mighty generous of me, isn't it? :D

Well from some of the posts I see it doesn't look like "everyone" gets it.

Well VF Shelton did play very well for us and might be one of our top five best players. If we cut Boldin right now or made him a backup would Green still be right because of all of his experience? If Shelton had been on another more succesful team I even think he could have possibly made the probowl.

I don't think Green can make decisions on players solely on what they've done in the few practices he's seen them in. He should be looking at tape. Some players are just not as good in practice. If he did look at our past games he would see a very talented player. If we had as much skill in all of our position as we do in left tackle we could have made the playoffs last year.

He'll never get it since he's so blinded with man with DG IMO.

He looks at tape he is a big tape guy. He looked at tape on Blake for example.
He made his pronouncements at first based only on tape looks. Remember those players he was happy were not signed to long term deals. Guess who one of those players was. As for Q you don't have to speculate DG did shift him even before drafting Fitz. He shifted a guy who was the ROY to a new position.

Y'know, you really oughta quit posting Dennis Green's resume every time one of his current decisions is called into question. Like they say in the financial markets, "Past performance does not guarantee future results."

Rumor has it that Buddy Ryan fielded some pretty decent defensive units and teams before coming to the Cardinals. Heck, he even had a Super Bowl ring, something that has so far eluded Green. But Ryan's previous success in the NFL didn't prevent him from being a train wreck as head coach of the Cards.

I believe that Green is legitimately one of the better HCs in the league, and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on even (what appear to be) debatable moves, like demoting L.J. Shelton and moving Leonard Davis to OLT.

Just stop implying that Green walks on water. He doesn't.

Uh DG has a SB ring. How many coach of the years did buddy ryan win. Did buddy ryan make it into the top 10 coaches of all time when he left football like DG did. DG makes mistakes maybe this is one. I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt is all.
