vikesfan said:Uh DG has a SB ring. How many coach of the years did buddy ryan win. Did buddy ryan make it into the top 10 coaches of all time when he left football like DG did. DG makes mistakes maybe this is one. I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt is all.

Y'know, you really oughta quit posting Dennis Green's resume every time one of his current decisions is called into question. Like they say in the financial markets, "Past performance does not guarantee future results."

Your cheap shot at the SB ring aside, why compare DG to Ryan a failure. Why not compare him to Fisher or Parcells or Cowher. What if Fisher or Parcells or Cowher made this move?Wild Card said:VF:
I'd forgotten that Dennis Green was the 49ers' receivers coach for their Super Bowl win following the 1988 season. (Clearly, Green was essential to the success of Jerry Rice and John Taylor. ) You win the Green trivia contest.
And we don't disagree about giving Green "the benefit of the doubt" in this instance. Mavbe you missed this part of my earlier post: "I believe that Green is legitimately one of the better HCs in the league, and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on even (what appear to be) debatable moves, like demoting L.J. Shelton and moving Leonard Davis to OLT."
My only point, in comparing Green to Buddy Ryan, was simply that past performance doesn't guarantee anything. So your endless reciting of Green's resume is sort of beside-the-point, when discussing his actions as HC of the Cardinals. Why not debate the merits of those actions, instead of assuming that Green is infallible based on his previous success? It'd be more interesting.

I wonder if VF will ever "get it" that his credibility seems inversely proportional to how much he "speaks".
Well, based on this logic Clement should be permanently benched, Spikes does not deserve to start as well, and Big seemed to be lost several times last season...RugbyMuffin said:Bah!
I could care less what Green does with our offensive line. They were horrendous this last year, and the year before.
My woman shuts my mouth everytime I try to speak about what the Cardinals are doing by reminding me of something I said after we cut Blake.
"There is not a player on this team that deserves to keep their spot based on past performance. They ALL are fighting for thier jobs"
AS much as I think Shelton is good, and a nice guy, I also on the other hand have to remember how bad our team has performed over the last couple of seasons. And I also must remember that McGinnis, also another guy I liked, was a pathetic evaluator of talent.
Shelton SHOULD be our LT? No, not untill he earns that spot. If he is a fat cow right now that can't move then good get him off the field. Put someone in there that can play the position. Cause I am tired of watching crappy team after crappy team. It is time to get things done.
Peace
ajcardfan said:it sounds like he's not in shape. It really could be as simple as wanting the unit out there that will run the crispest reps right now.

This is a two folded move
1. LJ, because of surgery, is out of shape. He might not have been participating in offseason workouts like they hoped. This provides motivation.
2. See what BIG can do at LT.
joeshmo said:MJ gets it. This isnt a big deal. It will turn out good in the end giving Davis some reps at LT becuase after Shelton there is no one else that can play LT. This is good for our depth with Davis knowing the LT spot better going into the season.
