Shocking: team that has great safety depth cuts safety that is claimed by another team.

I don't think it's as easy as "cut Nicklas, keep Quartey". With no fullback -- you would be down to 3 tight ends -- on an offense that likes 2 TE sets. You can't cut Sowell until Massie returns --

I don't get the emoting over this

Harold Jones Quartey brings more value to this football team and is a better football player than all of the following:

S Chris Clemons
LB Kenny Demens
DE Ed Stinson
LB LaMarr Woodley
T Bradley Sowell
WR Brittan Golden
QB Matt Barkley

Plus---we are planning to play packages with 4-5 of our safeties---there is need for depth at the position---AND---Deone Bucannon is going to spend a great deal of time at LB.

That tough-nosed kid earned his way onto the roster.

What is the one thing it takes to be a Qb at nfl level intelligence imo is number 1 don't think Lt ever had that I'm not taking anything away from his abilitiies but if it takes 2 yrs just to get somewhat into the playbook you will never be the Qb of the future

How about Kurt Warner? No one thought he ever had a chance---until Dick Vermeil groomed him and gave him one.

How many years did Aaron Rodgers sit before he got his chance?

You never know.

Tell us---what looked unintelligent about his play this pre-season?

Your not the only one mitch. I was high on LT this year and was happy to see how well he improve this year in PS. I have a feeling LT will be a starting qb in a year or two and all of us will regret that the cards waived him in 2015.

LMAO.

I think that both players, LT and JQ, being picked up is a tribute to the talent of our roster.

Word was that teams were zeroing in on the Cardinals' roster---which is why the coaches probably knew they were kissing these guys goodbye---which makes it even harder to accept.

Chris Clemons? Even if he lasts the season, he's gone next year. Harold Jones-Quartey should have been ours for 4 years, just like Tony Jefferson has been.

Ya think?

Logan Thomas is a major league talent. With the right coaching and in the right system, I agree with Shaggy, he could become a #1.

He lacks accuracy and touch with the ball. I trust our front office made the right decision with cutting him.

Not shocked at all .

LT has talent for sure. Can he be molded into a starting QB? I thought he showed some improvement this year and was able to put some touch on his short throws which he couldn't do last year.

JQ was a very good open field tackler. Not sure about his coverage skills. This guy we really could have used on the PS

Out of the players listed u can only compare Clemens imo since they play the same position n we went w the vet over the kid which with how young and experienced our secondary is I have no problems with that cuz it adds to depth rather then having a young guy back there who might blow a coverage and cost us a game maybe.

Pretty crazy, this is a team sport, the only one above that makes sense is Clemons, who will likely be cut if we find a #4 CB. So put HJQ in that spot and he gets cut in 3 weeks when we sign that CB, except that he can't cover at the NFL level like Clemons yet - basically, HJQ is perfect for the PS, but sometimes you lose players.

If Trent Green never gets hurt, you probably never hear of the legend that was Kurt Warner. Regardless of grooming, coaching, talent, etc, you still need an opportunity.

Mitch im not at all saying he can't one day be a decent Qb but look at every Starting Qb in the nfl who is considered elite what is the one thing they all have you use Warner as an example he had to wait for his chance not because he couldn't mentally run an offense but lacked imo the physical abilities until Vermiel gave him a chance and Rodgers was sitting behind Farve so why would you rush Just my observation I wish Lt good luck I have nothing against him but I think for the most part you have to a superior intellect and then some ability not vice versa

No waiver claims for the Cardinals.

Only JT and HJQ were claimed---

So---here are my PS hopes:

1. QB Phillip Sims
2. RB Kerwynn Williams
3. RB Jonas Gray (Patriots)---if not him Paul Lasike
3. WR Jaxson Shipley
4. C/G Anthony Steen
5. G Jon Halapio
6. NT Alameda Ta'amu
7. LB Gabe Martin
8. LB Edwin Jackson
9. CB Cariel Brooks
10. CB C.J. Roberts---this kid needs a little time, but he's got the talent

The exact same way we saw the legend of Ryan Blindley in Carolina;)

When Warner started out in Green Bay he was a mental basket case---couldn't grasp the offense---even asked not to go in the game one pre-season game.

Have you heard Thomas speak? He is very articulate. He is also very poised.

If the Cardinals can keep WR Jaxson Shipley and RB Kerwynn Williams on the practice squad it will make me feel a little better. I still think the Cardinals should have kept LT.

Russell Wilson didn't have Carson Palmer on the roster when he was drafted. Had that been the case, he likely would have been brought along slower and been viewed as developmental. Wilson came to Seattle at the ideal time and to a GM and HC who were willing to throw him in there right from the start. LT never had that scenario in AZ. Wilson also had the advantage of having come from a pro-style offense at Wisconsin and having to quickly learn it as a transfer.

With young QBs it's all about reps and opportunities---of which LT got very few in year one---heck, after playing well in PS Game 1 as a rookie, his head coach decides not to even play him in Game 2. Then his head coach gives all kinds of reps to Ryan Lindley, who was clearly heading out the door. Made no sense at the time and it still makes no sense.
