Ball going to LA. I would bet the house on it. Unless Ainge was willing to screw his franchise just to get at Magic. LOL.

This might be the most worthless argument ever on the board

Seriously. At least the Skolb arguments involved two QBs that were ACTUALLY on the team!

Skolb... Good god... Phoenix sports just freaking suck.

Jerry West was on Bay Area radio yesterday. He's with the Warriors as a consultant, he said the lakers are in the past he's not focused on them. the host is a UCLA grad he asked about Lonzo. West said he's very good, there's about 5 very good players in the draft he likes about the same, Lonzo has some holes they all do. didn't say who he would be picking if he had the Lakers pick but he seemed to be saying that when they pick 4 of those 5 will still be there and they gotta find the right one.

He did say when asked if Lavar Ball would be a consideration "yes" but didn't elaborate.

Lavar apparently said last night they will only workout for the Lakers. I haven't seen the actual quote yet but it's on UCLA boards now so I assume he said it. If so he better hope the Lakers love Lonzo or he's costing his son money. I remember Jrue Holiday did that and cost himself several slots because he didn't get picked where he thought he was going and several of the teams he snubbed in workouts then bypassed him.

The obvious scenario here would be Boston using Lonzo as leverage by telling the Lakers we're taking him but we'll trade him to you for Fultz and something else?

Then you would call that bluff, imo. And be thankful that you ended up with Fultz if it were remotely true.

I think you call the bluff if it were only the Celtics but other teams will be wanting the #1 pick as well.

I think you say fine we love fultz too and don't give up assets for players of similar talent level at same position.

Yeah I don't think it would work but worth a shot. I think the Celtics long range plan is they think they can get Gordon Hayward in FA because he'll want to be reunited with Brad Stevens, so their hope would be sign him in FA and then use young pieces like Jaylen Brown in a deal to fill out the roster. So they're probably pretty open. They also have the IT decision coming eventually so taking Fultz to eventually replace IT as the go to scorer has some merit.

I don't see them wanting either Jackson or Tatum because they already have Brown and think they can probably get Hayward so why draft another 3.

Will be interesting to see what the do, they need more offense, the defense is good they play hard and are very well coached but their ceiling is limited because it's so hard for them to score. IMO their biggest need is really a good young 4 but there really aren't any obvious ones in the draft. Giles was supposed to be that guy but with all the knee problems he's not a safe risk.

Oh no im in danger of actually liking Lavar Ball

Hes on the Herd right now and that co-host girl is just snapping at him left and right with little comments and jabs.

Shes doing that classic "you dont respect women" blanket statement thing.

Lavar said "I respect women but if you act like that youre gonna get whats coming to you"
She says "Oh so youre threatening me?"
Lavar "I would never threaten you, look at you trying to turn the words around"
She says "You just said Im gonna get whats coming to me"
Lavar "I aint psychic, I dont know what it is"

I almost died laughing. wait for the vid, its funnier in person

He came off looking like a terrible businessman once again. She brought up legitimate points about marketing to both men and women and had no legitimate response except for stupid bickering replies. It's his right to sound like an idiot all the time but I have a problem with him costing his son millions.

Magic is a hall of fame player, but has proved nothing as a GM yet aside from being able to smile and accept a little lottery luck.

He has shown questionable talent assessment in the past when commenting on current NBA players as well as prospects.

He now has to make tough decisions that involve managing the cap, acquiring free agents, and assessing the young talent on his team. I'm not sure he's up to the task unless he has the right people around him.

I'm curious to see what he does with Russell assuming they draft Ball. If I were him, I'd ship him to Philly who needs a PG and get the rights to their pick back.

Theres no question he is a terrible businessman, thats not the point.

His response to her "you disrespect women comment" was hilarious. This is a sports show. Why is she bringing that up? That was unprofessional to me. shes the one who made it personal. Im glad he shut her down.

And thats fine. Why the outrage?

Tampax doesnt market to men.

BBB is an awful brand, but if its only meant for menswear, then OK. Theres 1000s of sex specific brands in the world.

It wasn't disrespectful. Leahy wanted to know how much inventory he sold and his response was completely inappropriate and off-topic, "stay in your lane," which is the equivalent of telling a woman to "go back to the kitchen." Leahy's point, which is very valid, is that Ball doesn't market to women, who are the largest consumer of sports apparel. If Ball's target market is the teenage population, he's going to want to appeal to women, as it's the mothers who buy their sons shoes and apparel.

It's also funny because BBB actually sells women's apparel, as well. Why alienate a target market? That'd be like Under Armor selling golf apparel and its CEO saying that golfers are inferior athletes to football players.

I never said LaVar was an idiot. In fact, I have said on this forum that he's a genius for causing all of the talking heads to focus on him; thus, generating free marketing. I find it hypocritical, however, that he tells the public that he's not focusing on marketing towards women when he has a line of women's apparel.

I wasn't inferring you think he's an idiot. That was just my separate commentary on him. And agree with the hypocrisy.

Let's all agree, this man is not doing his son any favors. Nor is he being busy savvy with BBB. I get what he's trying to do. And he has generated a ton of free press. And I know the old adage there's no such thing as bad press, but I think we all know that's proven not to be true. LeVar has 100% absolutely damaged the value of lonzo ball. He's just too arrogant to admit it.

I don't know how you can say that. A month ago he was willing to sell the brand to Nike and others for 1 billions dollars, now, he's demanding 3 billion. He's made 2 extra billion right there!
