Not that it matters, but I will not be reading this thread, nor visiting any spoilers sites or anything concerning this show until AFTER next week's episode.

I don't want to know ANYTHING that is going to happen.

I truly think last episode would have been more emotional or impactful if I hadn't known Ecko was dying. Remember how great Boone's was? No one saw it coming.

Nor Ana Lucia or Libby.

Anyone have a second (or third) look at the eye patch guy? I am going off memory here, but he looked a lot like Ron Perlman to me:

I noticed that the second I saw the shot in the episode (not so much in the preview).

Good episode, but not the "Wow" we were led to believe...

Weak episode. Thought this one sucked actually..saw the whole thing in the previews already.

I thought this was supposed to change everything we knew or something. Big deal.

Every Kate flashback episode has been sub-par.

Very meh on this one...especially with their buildup as THE. BEST. EPISODE. OF. THE. SEASON. SO. FAR.

Yeah, I kinda agree. It definitely was not mind-blowing, but the second half of the season looks AWESOME!!!

Yeah, on it's own, it was a good episode...and I liked the Kate backstory, mainly because of an appearance from the captain of Serenity :)

But overall, it was a good episode. However, you are all right. They said this one would make us all go nuts, flip the world upside down? I don't see it.

Jack made a nice move, that's great, but Sawyer and Kate have nowhere to really go.

Anyways, some interesting things:

1) Kate refers to the Others using them to build something "big". What is that?

2) The guy who wanted to kill Sawyer, mentions that Jack wasn't on the original list from "Jacob". Who the heck is that?

3) Locke finds a message saying to look north...what for?

Anyways, I liked it...but a let down because of all the hype. Without the hype, it was a VERY good one.

That was the only part that took my interest as furthering the plot...someone above Ben. Someone Ben reports to..the HIM that Benry talked about when he was captured with the Losties.

Eko's stick...ok, but where is it going.

Yeah, so if Ben dies, all bets might be off.

I am interested in learning more about Alex and her relationship with Ben.

Ah yes...that too....Alex clearly asked to be brought to Ben but Juliet lied to Ben when he asked if Alex had asked about him. Strange politics going on with those Others.

Still though, my mind was not even close to being blown...it was hardly poked.

I don't trust that Juliet.

BTW, what was up with the Jack thing. He asked for Kate to be let go, but not Sawyer. Was it a given that both of them would be let go? Is he hoping that the Others kill Sawyer so he can be with Kate? I was a little confused by that.

For what it's worth, on all maps I've seen of the island, north of their location (the Pearl) is the Others' little "town".

Yes, he only mentioned Kate...dunno if Jealous Jack flashed green eyes then but he may have. :D

And when Jack grabbed a pistol...I said why...grab TWO pistols!! You have two hands!

Oh, and nice little trick by ABC using Lost previews after every "Daybreak" episode to get viewers. No thanks ABC. I'll find the previews online.

Here's my guess of what happens after the hiatus:
1) The Flame hasn't been found. Eko's stick told Locke to look north. It's a fair assumption that the "pirate" will reappear. It seems like he was in a hatch. For a signifcant portion of the rest of S3 Locke will be on a quest. He and Sayid (the new Boone) find the pirate. The pirate is a good guy but unstable (think Kelvin Im).
2) Charlie gets closer to Claire. I have no clue what's going to happen with Desmond. The rest of the people do absolutely nothing.
3) Somehow Kate and Sawyer escape. Benry survives but not for very long. Jack stays on Alcatraz.
4) Penny starts to figure in big time.

That's Desmond's GF isn't it? The one looking for him in the real world? I damn near forgot about her.

She better figure in sooner rather than later. Also, Micheal and Walt. I have been DYING for this show to have something going on in the world outside the island(s) and how people react. Micheal and Walt return home and how do people react? What is the reaction in the rest of the world to see survivors of Oceanic? THAT is an angle that I really want to see the show play up because all the way to now we have only seen what the lost people have seen...the rest of the world is still there and I wonder about them all the time. Hurley's family....Sun's dad...Charlie's brother...etc.

BTW, do Bernard and Rose even exist, and did I get their names right? Seriously, dropped off the face of the Earth for a second time now?

I was hoping there would be something about Penny in this episode. That got me thinking. What if Desmond's new power allows him not only to see the future but also to somehow send a message to Penny in the past. He could tell her to look for the electromagnetic anomaly as a way to find him on the island.

I don't know. Maybe I've been watching too much Heroes. :)

Like Ddogg and a few others, I was disappointed with this episode. I mean it sets up some good action in the rest of the season, but that's not really why we watch this show, is it? It's because we want to know what the hell is going on. There were a few little nuggets (Chandler Mike mentioned them), but I wanted something mind blowing. After all that's kind of what they told us it would be.

There are so many unanswered questions on the show. They easily could have answered one of them or even just given us more.

There are so many unanswered questions on this show that it's getting a bit ridiculous. I think they really need to answer a few, especially before they start bringing up more questions. During this hiatus we should start a list of all of the questions we have. I'll bet it would be a mile long.

Lastly, am I the only one who doesn't really care whether Kate ends up with Jack or Sawyer? It just doesn't interest me much anymore.

So far, this season has been a bit of a letdown for me.

On further review, the show grew on me a bit.

As others have said, we are set up for the second part of the season. The Jack/Kate/Sawyer situation has a path to follow, and it looks like Alex will be more heavily involved. This could lead to the re-apperance of Danielle.

Locke is at his best when he has a clear direction - which he does now. Whether it will be just Locke and Sayid, or will Desmond/Nikki/Paulo join in the search is open, but a search to the north will happen.

Is the man with the eyepatch Jacob? Will they stumble on Mysteria Lane?

But, they'd better show Rose and Bernard, Walt and Micheal, Penny and Hurley. Could really care less about Claire and the hobbit, but they'd better tie Aaron in somehow, since he was a focus of Season One.

We also need more of the flashbacks with links to other characters......

And I could live without seeing another Kate-centric epi, ever. BOOOORRING!

~Jack seems to have chosen what he believes to be the lesser of two evils: Ben. As twisted as he is, Ben seems to be a man of his word, and I think Jack must see that, too.

~Jack doesn't realize that he's sending Kate (and Sawyer?) on a fruitless escape attempt. Only Sawyer and Kate know they're on a small island off the coast of "thier" island.

~I'm surprised Jack, despite his appearent jealousy, didn't make Sawyer and Kate part of his deal with Ben.
