What is so great about this episode is how it really did a terrific job of "filling in the blanks". They did an awesome job of showing that Paolo and Nikki had been there the whole time by making them involved in a lot of stuff we never saw originally.

That was great work. Was that all done with splicing/computers? Did they reshoot stuff? Or have it shot from the beginning?

My guess is they reshot it, but there was probably a lot of blue/green screen work, especially when they did the plane crash stuff.

This episode was like the first season, where almost every single character in the show was on screen at some point.

Awesome work of tying them in.

No, explain?

R&G are two minor characters in Shakespear's Hamlet. In the 60's, a play, and then in 1990 a movie by the same name was produced that focused on R&G, but set against the backdrop of Hamlet. It was a dark, sardonic comedy, with these two bumbling around seeking a fortune, all the while running into scenes from Hamlet. Scenes like Nikki and Paulo discovering the plane, the hatch, Flame station, etc, but ignoring them in their blind pursuit of the diamonds, was lifted straight from R&G are Dead.

What I didn't like was knowing that Paolo knew so much more than the rest of them and never told anybody because he was more worried about the diamonds than the safety of his fellow survivors?

I mean he was there when they talked about taking Jack, he had the walkie talkie etc.

To me the walkie talkie is a plot hole, first off unless he kept it off, how come nobody ever heard them squawking on it suddenly, was he always out of range? and if it was on, how come the batteries still worked when Sawyer turned it on? If it was off, why bother to take it in the first place.

you think they are digging they're way out? or perhaps just come back as zombies...

shawn

Maybe Vincent will dig them up...He seemed to realize that they weren't dead when he tried to uncover them earlier.

But, could they survive even a little burial - probably not.

Again, back to what Locke said

"High tide, the beach is eroding..."

It is a hunch but Locke said what he said for more than just to let Paulo know not to bury his secret on the beach...

It is a stretch for sure...

i don't know if that would be the case - they have everyone that they buried in that area. i would think that they would have them far enough inland to not worry about that - but who knows if they actually thought that far in advance.

Filler episode. Had it's moments. Loved seeing S & B back. I agree they did a fantastic job of integrating them into the original crash. I also don't think that the direction of the characters was influenced at all from fan reaction. They have treated the introduction of those characters tongue and cheek since the start. Sawyer "who are you?".

I think this is how they will do filler episodes from time to time. I don't mind seeing new characters every now and then. I mean we see extras in the backround all the time. Sooner or later I wouldn't mind seeing one of their stories mixed it.

PS Where is Bernard and Rose anyway?

I read an interview where one of the directors said Rose is a regular on another series so while that doesn't mean she'll never be back, she simply
isn't available now to be on Lost. Forget what the other show was.

she (L. Scott Caldwell) has been on a few other shows, but according to IMDB.com it does not appear that she is a regular on any other show right now. She has done some work with the following shows since/during LOST: Ghost Whisperer, Cold Case, ER, and Gridiron Gang.

One other comment, in the flashbacks Boone says something in the airport and then Shannon says "quit flirting with random guys so we can get on the plane" or something similar. Was she just making fun of him or was she saying Boone was gay?

I caught that too. I think she was just putting him down. Who knows with this show...

I was wondering because it would seem to be a contradiction since we know Boone and Shannon had an "odd" relationship.
