I think that this confirms that Juliette is a "tweener". We know from even more of the backstory that she has no love for the others. Think about it. She appeared to be in love or like the "other" she was sacked up with. Yet that same day when she got to see her sister and her daughter she didn't hesitate to say let me go home. He wasn't even an after thought.

So to me, she still has no love for Ben and the others. However, I think she would be willing to do whatever it takes to go home. So she is not evil per say but isn't on the our survivor's side either. Remember that Ben already said she can home when her work is finished. I think Sun is that unfinished part. I think somehow if Juliette got her prego and if she stays OK, that would finish. So she makes a deal with Ben to kidnap Sun and she gets to go home.

We know why the women and children were kidnapped now. I just can't wait to get back to the Locke story line. I can't wait to see what happens with that. The last episodes are going to rock.

As far as we know, the Others never knew Sun was pregnant, right? I suppose it's possible Michael or someone else mentioned it, but if they did, we never saw that. And if no one from the Survivors told them, then they have no way of knowing. This leads me to believe that whatever Juliet is up to, it's not related to Sun's pregnancy.

Also, if Juliet managed to keep Claire alive, then it seems she already succeeded with her work. What more do they want her to do as far as her work was concerned? And why did that implant just happen to have a remote deactivation switch?

i'm betting the others have a way of knowing whether any of the Losties mentioned it or not.

But how? I was assuming all this time that all the information they had on everyone was from public records and whatever other records they could get their hands on, that they had connections to get pretty much whatever info they wanted. I didn't think they had a crystal ball though.

Slightly different tangent. do people think Jack is too impressed with Juliet's "assets" and is completely fooled, or is he playing her as much as she's playing him?

The whole she's under my protection thing bugged me. And his comment about how he saw in her eyes she wanted to get off the island more than anybody else, I seriously doubt Jack has EVER seen her eyes.

Wow.

Great episode too...you guys covered everything.

One thing interesting...two mentions of the trip to the Island being rough...wonder if trying to get through that magnetic field was a pain before?

Now it's gone...

I disagree. I think Jack is probably correct in talking about how much Juliet wants off the island. I think she absolutely does. But not at the expense of betraying the Others. THAT'S what Jack doesn't see.

Could Jack be playing the angle as well? I don't know. Everyone seems really ok with Locke just going off and leaving everyone. There's gotta be some bigger purpose here with Jack. He's too strong of a character to just be fooled so easily.

i don't know - i think it is going to go really bad for Jack with the Losties after Jules betrays them. not only has Jack stuck his neck out to protect her, and in some sense isolated himself in doing so, but when she does whatever it is she is going to do - Jack is going to be left by himself. he is putting a bunch of trust in her and when it backfires - well...it won't be pretty.

I'm kind of impressed with Juliet's assets. And the more evil she is, the more attractive I'm finding her.

I just saw a trailer for next week's show (or Lost as a whole) that had Ben talking to Jack and saying, "Trust me, nobody will get hurt."

Does that mean Jack actually KNOWS that Juliet is there to do something else for the Others?

If you look at the above clip it looks like Ben is saying that to Locke.

My guess would be that Locke told them that Sun is pregnant. Any one of the other 4 that have been captured could have mentioned it also. We still don't know what they put Kate through when they first had her... after her kneel on the beach with Ben.

I just think Juliet wants off the island. I don't think she really cares what she has to do to do it. She was perfectly willing to have Jack kill Ben. She had no problem shooting that mean bastard on the beach. I think she would betray the others in a minute if she thought it would give her the best chance to get off the island. IMO they are setting this up for her to make some sort of sacrifice to help the Losties at the last minute.

That is a different teaser than the one that was on ABC during the Bulls/Wizards game.

I've been watching the trailers all morning on the games comment I could swear it's Locke. it will probably be on again at some point during this Dallas game. I'll rewind and go in slow motion. Who is Kate kissing in that same preview?

i thought he was refering to the trip from the mainland to the island. although i still do think that the island is in it's own little time line separate from the rest of the outside world.

shawn

I don't think so, because they keep referring back to real-time events back in the "real-world".

I don't think she has any real loyalty to the Others. I think Juliet is out for Juliet. I think she will do whatever she has to so she can get off the island. If that means making a deal with Ben or betraying the others to get off...she will do it.

I've been sick the last couple of days, so I've been watching Season 1 pretty much straight through, and there are still a lot of unanswered questions, even from as early as the 4th episode of the series. Nobody still has any idea where the body of Jack's father is, do they? And why did Danielle think the members of her science team were sick--leading her to kill them? What was the purpose of that science team? Yes, they were shipwrecked, but what was their original purpose--there's no way they crashed on the island by sheer coincidence. I'm looking forward to some of the later episodes to see if there are more hints.

I was really happy to FINALLY see some footage of the real world being concerned about Oceanic Air having a missing plane. That kind of stuff has been something I've REALLY been interested in from the start, and never addressed. For example, what's going on with Hurley's money...does Cheech have it all? Good to know the world is aware they are missing...

Did you get to watch the episode where they find the skeletons up by the caves? I've heard that that episode is quite significant in the overall story.

My theory on the others is that they are the descendents of the people who crashed The Black Rock.

If I remember correctly Danielle said they crashed into the island when they went to investigate the source of the signal (the numbers).

That is correct. A little after the midpoint of the season, the episodes are almost uniformly brilliant, with flashbacks with Sawyer, Jin and Hurley which are just amazing in execution.

Danielle's crew was on their way to investigate the numbers. However, I think it is no coincidence that they picked up the numbers in the first place.

As for the skeletons--I think the theory that the Others are descendants of the people from the Black Rock holds a lot of weight. Jack said when he found Adam and Eve that their clothes would have taken 40 or 50 years to get into the state they were in. So I don't think there was any connection with the 16 year people. If this theory is correct, then the Others (and Dharma?) has been on the island for possibly hundreds of years.
