My memory is a bit hasty, but what did Juliet need a gas mask for? I thought she only pretended to be gased, so she wouldn't have a need for it, yet they showed her grabbing it. Will the Others ambush them at the beach in a weeks time, and is that what the mask is for?

well - she would have to retrieve Kate - who was gassed. so in order to do so and not suffer the effects, she would have to be in the gas to take Kate out to the woods and handcuff herself to Kate.

Methinks Desmond is going to have a more prominent role soon. The Others are planning something big and he's going to know about it.

Tons of info/good stuff last night.

1) We know that women on the island can't give birth.
2) Somehow, cancer is curable on the island
3) One of the reasons for infiltrating the losties was to get women for their experiments. Also, to get kids to keep the population up.

New questions - why can't women give birth? And why don't the others leave the island - can they? And why did Ben get cancer?

Where have they been getting "fresh" women from?

Amazing performance by Juliet!! Is she good? Evil? or just desperate to get off the island?

#1 has me puzzled. Wasn't Alex born to Rousseau on the island? Didn't Ben himself say he has never been off the island and was born there? Am I misremembering (very possible) or were they wrong to say Claire was the first to give birth on the island?

Also, assuming the "hostiles" were a separate group that may have descended from the Black Rock people, weren't they having babies?

Great episode though, Juliet is as good as Ben I mean I knew she had to be a plant but I think she's a double agent at this point. I think she's desperate to get off the island and is setting herself up to jump sides at a moments notice if it increases her chance to get off.

Maybe something happened between the time Rosseau gave birth and now. Or maybe since Rosseau was so far along (7 months), she was able to give birth.

There's always a backup, I really doubt they only had one way off the island (submarine). And who's doing the darma airdrops? Or were those fake, actually just pulled into place or something and thats why they were made to be in lockdown during the drops?

Your #2 isn't exactly correct, but it might just be a grammatical error on your part. Juliet's sister never came to the island (at least, that's what is implied), so how did she get cured?

Possibly, but my theory is Juliet lied when she said that so that they would let her give Claire the shot. She knew that it was the "activated implant" causing the symptoms. She knew the shot would stop it, and then people would trust her. The easiest way to get them to let her give the shot was to convince Jack that Claire was the only one who'd survived?

Now in the flashbacks we did learn that other women had died while pregnant but not necessarily all of them.

My girlfiriend has an interesting theory too, she thinks at some point they're going to have to give Claire a transfusion and will then find out that the best donor on the island is Jack, because they're half brother and sister.

Did anyone also catch that Ethan (I think) stated to Juliette when she was asking about how long she would be gone "it will go by quicker than you think" or something to that effect?

In other words, is there some sort of time shift / incontinuum on the island?

i thought he was refering to the trip from the mainland to the island. although i still do think that the island is in it's own little time line separate from the rest of the outside world.

A few random thoughts from a fantastic episode...

Jacob is this great man, the leader of the others.

Juliet cannot leave the island until she cures this problem with women having children on the island. They need another pregnant women to research and experiment. They are coming to get Sun in a week.

As others have said, Juliet is not bad. She's just desperate to get off the island. I do think she'll flip and help the survivors.

Jack has never been my favorite character, but now I find myself not liking him at all.

I really was not enamored with the first batch of episodes from this season. However I've loved the last handful of episodes with the exception of the Nikki and Paulo show. I didn't hate it. I thought it was okay. It looks like we are going to be blown away by the rest of the season though.

Lastly, episodes like last night's should quiet those people who have complained that we never get any answers and the show's creators have no idea where they are going with it. Clearly they have an overall outline for this show, and over the last several weeks we've gotten a lot of information.

Wednesdays can't come quickly enough.

good point about the Others coming to retrieve Sun - I could see that being a possibility. also, I can also see them taking Claire's baby and perhaps Charlie finally being killed in whatever happens with that. I think at some point Charlie is going to die just because of what Desmond has said in the past.
