It is NOT Hurley. Come on. Why would Kate think Jack a fool for thinking that Kate would show up? EVERYBODY loved Hurley. There are plenty of things that don't make sense in this show, but there is no conceivable logic as to Hurley being in the coffin. And in the ghetto.
:yeahthat:
Why wouldn't Hurley's Mom and/or Dad show up?

So, Kate made Sawyer a promise. Did I miss that? What is the promise? Who was she talking to on the phone? I still want to know whose funeral Jack was at. Ya think it could have been Michael?

Matt, you must have a theory on this by now. ???

My theory is Kate promised Sawyer to do something for his child. I forget the back story but Sawyer found out on the island he was a father IIRC. He probably asked Kate to track down his child.

I think that he found out when he was still in the US. Before he even went to Australia.

Yeah probably true I forget the specifics but I'm guessing he asked Kate to deliver a message or money or something since he knew he was stuck on the island?

With several scenes of Jack shirtless in the flash-forwards, did anyone notice a big scar on his lower abdomen? Possibly the place where an appendix would reside?

I've been convinced since the end of last season that the funeral was Michael's. Remember the obituary? There was something about being survived by a son, being from New York, I thought I remembered that the funeral was in a "black" neighborhood. Certainly it would explain why Kate would react the way she did when asked if she had gone to the funeral.

I have some really crazy confusion rolling around in my head now. The doctor happened AFTER his body washed up? Previously, the things on the boat happened BEFORE the island.

Alpert and Locke creepy stuff.

Is Claire dead?

Was that Ben's dad, the mathematician? I don't remember him well. Seemed familiar.

What is Xian Shepard's connection to the island? Why is he speaking on Jacob's behalf?

Locke's smoke monster drawing as a little kid was really interesting.

Good question. It was never shown that she was dead, but at least it's explained how she and Aaron got seperated.

No, he was the leader of the Dharma Initiative on the Island when Ben first came there. His dad was a janitor or something (he gassed him in the VW bus).

I got nothin'. This show goes off on so many unpredictable tangents, and afterwards you feel like you should've seen it all coming. I'm anxious to get this season over. I think I like it more at the beginning of the season when they're focusing on characters. I miss that. All the subterfuge becomes a burden afterwhile just keeping track of it.

Yeah the time shifting stuff is getting really hard to follow you sort of just have to suspend belief and just decide on this show anything is possible so don't think about it.

as Donald said the doctor washes up dead before he's killed. It appears Sayid will reach the island, he left before the doctor was killed in a boat with an engine yet he'll get to the island days after the body did. I guess the key there is that Sayid took the correct heading where presumably the body didn't and thus went into this time shift deal?

Looks like it's getting good again.

I don't know if it's "days". I would say at most it's 2 days. Didn't Jack have his surgery either the day of or the day after the body washed up on the beach? And last night it appeared to only be a day after the surgery, so that would be about 2 days.

Knowing that you are big John Locke fan, I would have thought you'd have been all over this episode. I mean, what was the deal with the test? Is John the second coming of the Dali Lama, with this "what object is yours?" concept? And did John really fail the test, or was he purposely picking the wrong object because he always rejects his "true" nature? And was the plane crash caused by the island purely to get John there?

Is Claire now dead? It explains why Miles was looking at her so strangely last week.

And now you can see why there is an Oceanic 6.
I suspect that Sayid brings these 5 back with him to the freighter and then Locke moves the whole damn island!

I thought this was a great episode.

I actually meant to write 2 days as I too figured that's how long ago the body washed up. Hard to say.

My girlfriend thought she heard Locke's mother say the baby's name is John, the fathers' name is ben? I heard the John part but not the Ben did anybody else hear that?

Yeah that's what I thought but my girlfriend said she thought they said the fathers name is Ben which had us wondering. At one point Cooper said something like you were looking for a father so there I was so we were thinking maybe that wasn't his real father.

it makes no sense of course since we know Ben grew up on the island, but with this show you just never know.

Here's my little theory.

Widmore was a "chosen one." Ben took over. Locke is now taking over.

A Chosen One can't kill another Chosen one. When Ben meets Widmore in his room, Wid asks if he's there to kill him and Ben says "we both know I can't do that." In this last episode, when Ben accepts that Locke is a Chosen One as well, he mentions that it was dumb for him to try and kill John on the pile of dead bodies and he should have known better.

Chosen Ones can't kill other Chosen Ones...but can one hide the island from others? Is that what Ben did to Widmore?

He knew he could take his kidney because he was his father. Plus, John was born in the 50's and Ben and John are about the same age.

I like it.

Maybe they can kill a chosen one but they have to cut the head off and wait for the Quickening!

When Ben said that about Locke I assumed he just meant the island healed John so it wouldn't let him die but I like your theory better.

nice highlander reference. :)

I'm also digging a theory that these Chosen Ones are decendants of (reincarnations) of the Black Rock pirates. Widmore was buying the logbook at auction.

The items Alpert laid out for Locke (compass, book of laws, whatever container) seemed like they could be "piratey" items. His pirate spirit sought them out.

I've also convinced myself that Claire is dead. Chief reason, besides being so creepy, she was not worried one bit about Aaron. Not at all. Completely out of character, so with all the rest, I'm 100% sure she's dead.

Yeah the kidney part ruined her theory but the age part doesn't because of all the time shift stuff on the island. Note, I don't think Ben is his father becaues of the kidney stuff but she got me thinking wouldn't it be just like Lost to tell us Ben is John's father.
