Years from now in a reunion episode with the cast and crew it will be brought to light that they had zero story at all. They would just start a plot line and choose a name or action from a hat of choices and shoot it. I just know it.

I can't believe those guys woulda let a pregnant woman go down that hole, so I don't think Jin preventing her from doing so had anything to do with it.

Don't watch Lost much?

I hate to state the obvious, but the storyline through Season 6 has been written for about two years. Also, almost every single name (maybe *every* single name -- just haven't decoded it yet) has had some relevant, historical reference that a direct relationship to that character's role on the show. If it's not a historical reference, they've used literary allusions and anagrams. The entire show is like a gigantic puzzle being played in the background by the writers who love to tweak their audience.

I think you nailed it. I think there is possibly a reason that he couldn't touch John. In fact, if memory serves me correctly, I don't remember a single instance where someone ever touches him even when in the cabin.

His exact words weren't "interfere", but "change". Google David Lewis (the name of dead Charlotte's father) and The Principle of Self-Consistency.

Edit: regarding Danielle and Jin, if you noticed that as soon as Charlotte told Daniel she was born on the island she had another memory pop up that a scary old man who she thinks was Daniel told her not to come back. So an old Daniel down the line tries to fight against the principle despite knowing it will fail and causing Charlotte to have a "new" memory. It doesn't work however because she still comes back and dies. So he was not able to "change" despite the "interference". Only Desmond has the ability to "change" as he's special.

Or something like that.

Nobody knows. We don't know why some refer to him as Jacob. We don't know why he couldn't appear to physically help John. We don't know how he is related to the other "ghosts" that have appeared on the island or if they are indeed the same.

It's one of the biggest questions out there.

I don't know what he is exactly, but it's hard for me to believe the ghost theory because his physical body has been missing since Season 1.
