I don't know what he is exactly, but it's hard for me to believe the ghost theory because his physical body has been missing since Season 1.

Perhaps he is a Yemi-like creation by the smoke monster? This would explain why he couldn't touch Locke, but still could be heard making sounds, since this would be consistant with "Yemi's" interaction with Mr. Eco. (remember when Yemi told Mr. Eco, "why do you talk to me like I'm your brother?" and then the smoke monster killed him?)

Metaphorically, I'm pretty sure I understand the relevance of the smoke monster. We have this ongoing philosophical battle between free will and predestination. I'm pretty sure the smoke monster represents the problem of evil and the imbalance of justice; it's chaotic and something far beyond our control.

In that light, as a metaphor, Christian is the embodiment of the sins of our fathers -- a lighter element of predestination that, as a scientific and philosophical debate, relates to nature vs. nurture. Christian is the perfect foil for that kind of thinking considering Jack's story arc.

I think anyone trying to decipher all this stuff outside of a literary angle is bound to be disappointed in the end. Just my guess.

Frank Lapidus makes a cameo!!

Touched by Ben's concern for the other passengers. Love Hurley buying all the other seats.

My goodness, what a mind freak of an episode!

I think this is the first episode in a while where there are more questions than answers...

1) How did Hurley get out of jail?
2) Who told him to go to the airport?
3) How did Sayid become the "passenger in handcuffs" and why is he on the plane?
4) Where the heck is Aaron?
5) Only 5 of the 6 came back--what does that mean?
6) Jin driving a new Dharma van and dressed in a Dharma work uniform. Did the 6 arrive back at the island in the 80s?
7) If so, does that mean Sawyer and Juliet are around in the 80s as well?

and finally...

8) How did Ben get all beat up and bloody? The guess is that he made good on his promise and killed Penny, and was beat up by Desmond. But it can't be that obvious.

Holy crap, what a freaking show.

Sayid got arrested to fulfill the Kate being arrested/escorted part. Hurley is carrying a guitar for CHARLIE. (My guesses). They are trying to make things as much like the first flight.

Of course, but how did they know to do that?

How about this: Kate is pregnant, so there is no need for Aaron to be on the plane. Perhaps she left him with Claire's mom (his blood grandmother).

That is what I was thinking too.

Where For Art Thou, Aaron?

I have no idea. Did someone take him? Did Kate abandom him? Someone must have come to see Kate to make her get on the plane. Was it Claire? She came to see Kate once before, right? Did she tell her not to take Aaron back to the island again?

And how is Jack so cool with just not knowing? Is she that good in the sack that he just blows off his nephew?

I think Desmond would have killed him. Has to be something else.

Ooh. Nice thought about Kate being pregnant. Maybe that's why she was in Jack's bed the night before the flight.

We were introduced to Caesar (Saïd Taghmaoui). I like him as an actor.

Great friggin episode

"We aren't going to Guam, are we?"

Ben might be the best villain in TV history

"There are other people on the plane. What happens to them?"
"Who cares?"

- Hurley was getting out of jail due to the help of Ben and his attorney. He was probably told to go on that flight by one of the ghosts of the people that died on the island (Charlie, Anna Lucia, Ekko, etc)

I agree with alot of what was already stated.

We know that Hurley, Sayid and Kate wanted to have nothing to do with any of it. What the hell changed their minds??? My guess is something very bad. Ben seemed surprised by at least Hurley being there. Who the frack has the influence or power to convince those 3 to get on the plane????

My wife and I thought the same thing about Kate...pregnant which takes the place of Erin. Remember what Kate did not want to talk about? Someone, first convinced her she had to return to the island. Next that same person explained that if she wanted to protect Erin, she had to be pregnant when getting on the plane. Hence...the real reason she slept with Jack.

Ben killed Penny..which will drive Desmond back to the island.

Also, they must be back in the Dharma hay day based on Jin. Since they all leap together, they all must be there.

The coolest thing was that the plane only needed to be in the area of the island for them to be captured in "leap". No need to crash the plane. Very cool. However, I guess it's possible the plane did crash but the reason you could guarantee their survival is because the "leap" would snatch them from the plane. Very cool.
