I was reminded yesterday by another Lost geek that Sun and Widmore have had a standing agreement since last season, and it has yet to be revisited. So I think it's safe to assume that whatever hand Sun is playing is a feign because he real plan involves Widmore.

I really loved that episode, but I'm not sure if it's for good reasons. Just always loved Desmond/Widmore dynamic. Also loved Charlie's return. But I can't point to any one thing that I thought was amazing.

Really happy Desmond has more than one episode. Desmond's love Penny was one of the most powerful elements of the show. Glad to see they're going to mine that a little more.

Next week looks like it could be a disappointment. Hurley's not as interesting if he's important. He's best when he's playing a butler-like role in a Tartuff-like play. He's the heart of the show. If they make him important, it sort of spoils his magic.

I wish Sayid would have killed the Tina Fey look alike. She sucks, can't act, and gets way more time than the LOST regulars. Bite me.

Secondly, I freaking love Desmond and Penny together. Love, Love, Love!

Interesting to see the time lines starting to bleed over.

BTW, Daniel's drawing:

Created by Albert Einstein and Hermann Minkowski.

Of course, the limo drive in this episode was also named Minkowski. He was the communications officer on the freighter that died because he didn't find his constant while time jumping.

I liked this epidode, and like the way it finally tied together the two storylines side-by-side, which sets up a reappearance by Juliet in the flash-sideways because of the "it worked" line. Love and death seeming to be the two things that allow a character to see through the divide. The question being, which will it be for Sawyer, and if the former, who?

I got into Lost a few months ago and loved it, watched the first 4 seasons almost non-stop. Then it got strange and the time travel made the show more difficult to follow than I was willing to take, and I lost interest.

Can somebody tell me (in a few sentences) what is going on generally? Are there multiple story lines going on simultaneously and none of them are fictional? Some parallel universe thing? Did the first few seasons never actually happen?

And sorry if this is a lame question and ordinarily I wouldn't really care, but I loved the show and really am interested in what is happening even though I don't have the patience for it.

If someone can do that, I'd also like an explanation of quantum theory.

Great episode. Anything that gets Desmond and Penny back together is pure magic.

The question for me is still 'what is the ALT'? Is it a positive reality or a negative one? And does it result from Jacob's goals or from MIB's goals?

It seems like most of the characters have 'better more settled' lives in the ALT (with some exceptions), but what if it is all a fantasy - Matrix-style?

Which is the real reality, and if they are both 'real', what will the Losties choose? Is there a devil's bargain to get the ALT world (like MIB off the island)?

So many questions. So few episodes left to answer them all. I have confidence in the writers, though, to wrap it all up strongly!

that sounds like an incredible waste of time.

Im usually writing some code while its on in the room. Bu ulltimately I agree. Also comes on when I need some rest (if I have coded too much) and there isnt anything else on and I just want to lounge.

IMO pretty boring since I was hoping for "stuff" to happen. That said, very huge and important episode. Sets up a lot.

I guess Daniel "Widmore" said it best, what if there were some other life that they were "supposed" to live? I could see most of the Losties buying into that idea because they'll apply whatever lack of fulfillment they have in the alternate reality to it. Though maybe there will be a few holdouts, like the way Locke was the only one on the island who doesn't want to leave.

He'll be an interesting character to watch. What will he see in the flash-sideways? The ability to walk? Or his death? I still wonder if he'll be the key at the end, some sort of sacrifice in the alternate reality to save the other reality.

Desmond will be willing to by into the idea that the other life is the one he was "meant" to live because that's where

Locke has the same weakness in every timeline -- pride -- so I would suggest his fate is going to be similar in every timeline.

uh... no. The creator of my show is one of the co-creators of Lost, and our other exec. producer and one of our producers were both writers on Lost during seasons 2 and 3.

and trust me, they're not geeks and if you had a conversation with them, your reverence of the show and how smart and well thought out it is would probably fly out the window.

with a show like Lost, the less you know about how it was created/how it was written, the better.

I wondered if you still worked with him and how that went over. Kind of how I expected. I appreciate that you can detach yourself and still appreciate Lost in spite of the obvious animosity your employer has for it. If it were me, I'd be tempted to hold a grudge out of professional courtesy, but that always ends up ruining good fun.

i tried holding the grudge, but a) he STILL makes a TON of money off the show and b) it's too entertaining not to like.

Any guesses on how Desmond is going to show the rest of the Oceanic passengers their alternate lives? It took pretty traumatic events for Charlie and Des to see them -- choking and auto accident/drowning.

Also, do we know what it is that has made Desmond so willing to go along now? I didn't see anything in his flash-sideways that would have made me wake up on the island and think "oh, yeah, it all makes sense now. Come on, Widmore, let's go do whatever the hell it is you want to do." Also, he doesn't seem to phased when Sayid derails the plan that he seemed so phsyched on just moments before. Does he realize he's not in control of his own fate, and is now okay with being buffeted along by whatever happens?
