Okay, I'm finally caught up on the episodes and read this thread.

Excellent show! So many things to consider, wonder, ponder! The 16 year old transmission is awesome.

I loved the whole Locke thing. They took an actor typecast as someone else and totally fooled everyone. Excellent. I didn't see him not being able to walk until I saw him in the wheelchair. I need to pay closer attention to detail (and wait for the first episode to replay!).

Did anyone notice that the episode with the polar bear, that earlier in the episode the kid was thumbing through a comic book and the camera showed one page where the super heroes were being charged by a polar bear???

*cue Twilight Zone music*

I can't wait for the writers to eek out all the explanations.

and Kate's hot.

Wow, you guys notice a lot, we need to pay more attention. Of course, i think I try to watch it without figuring out what's going on beforehand, or to predict anything.

I loved last night's episode, it almost gave you goose bumps when you finally see him lying on the beach after you just found out he couldn't walk before...and then suddenly he stands up.

Then they hit you with a mysterious guy in a suit, holy crap.

BTW, I was thinking that Locke didn't kill that boar...I think the dino-whatever that thing is killed it, and he took it. Just because I thought you see Locke stalking the boar, then you hear the big guy, and a squeal like the boar was killed...

I freaking WANT to know what the heck that thing is, and WHY no one talks about it when they see it...

Anyone think the doctor saw it?

Well then, the signal on the island that has been running for 16 years...how do you explain that?

Kate is hot though, better than that blond :)

Another plane has taken this same trip before (ala bermuda triangle) and Im willing to bet that there are still some people from 16 years ago still alive on that island. They will come to them soon I think (no not the guy in the suit)

Thats why for 16 years that call was never heard.

I think that's a genius play on the producers and writers. It works both ways, and I must admit I'd be torn. To be blown away by seeing Locke in the wheelchair is very enjoyable. But on the other hand, things are there for you to see and try to piece together.

I think one of the prevailing theories floating around is that the treeshaker is a manifestation of the people's fears. That it doesn't exist of its own accord. And if it is Fear then that would explain the Doc's counting to 5 and dropping his fear (that Kate also employed) as well as Locke's desire to fight and overcome his many obstacles. Maybe Locke wasn't destroyed by the treeshaker because of his bravery or determination.

The manifestation might also extend beyond fear. I mean, they were out of food and all of the sudden there are some wild boars?

That's why I want to watch the first episode again, to try to catch some more thing.

Didn't the Doc call him Dad??

Which is intriguing because he alluded to his father earlier in the episode.

Agreed!!! We don't know what happened. It's fun to wonder and find out.

Kate is hot though, better than that blond.

Agreed. Kate, the felon, is much better than the selfish blonde. I wonder what she did.

I don't remember him calling the guy Dad, if so, I sure missed out on that.

Also, if there were other people on the island (which I bet there are), wouldn't they have heard the crash and come running?

Interesting theories guys...this show is like my new X-files...

Mapother Joins Lost for Two Episodes
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
October 16, 2004

William Mapother will star in two episodes on ABC's hit new drama Lost from J.J. Abrams. Mapother, best known for his role in the feature In the Bedroom, will next be seen in Sony's horror thriller The Grudge, with Sarah Michelle Gellar.

**********************PLOT DETAILS*****************************

The October 20 episode of Lost is titled "White Rabbit". In it, Jack is near delirious from lack of sleep and struggles to overcome the haunting events that brought him to Australia and, subsequently, to the island.

Meanwhile, Boone gets caught in a treacherous riptide, the pregnant Claire's health takes a bad turn, and a thief may have stolen the last bottles of water.

Yeah, this show just gets better and better...

**************SPOILERS********************

But one thing got us...was that coffin empty because the airline took the body out and wouldn't ship it? Isn't that a little weird?

I thought maybe it would be empty because he was now alive on the island, but I guess it was more of dimensia in his head drawing him to where the coffin was...

THen I figured the body would be inside and he would bury his father...

I was confused on that.

But other than that, great show. Very curious as to what Locke saw that was beautiful and the eye of the island.

And I loved the speech at the end by Jack, and look forward to seeing them start "living" on the island...maybe building a shelter, etc.

yeah - the bit about the coffin. I took it that customs didn't let the body through, only the coffin. but then i got confused. i think locke was talking about walking again when he "looked into the eye of the island" - basically anything you want to do, you can do on the island. locke walked again, successfully caught a pig, and "survived the monster" and the plane crash.

my wife brought up the point that she thnks they all are dead and this is some type of purgatory or something. interesting idea.

****more spoilers*******

I figured he was talking about when he saw that monster and what he saw it in was beautiful...and he referred to it as the eye of the island.

Tons of interesting theories...I would hate for them to be dead, but that's a crazy idea.

I also don't see how customs would just remove the body without telling him, so that part it weird.

Starting to tire of the focusing on the story of each person. They lost track of the thing that made it special. The "ynknown monster". Now Jack is running around in the woods with no fear of the monster or whatever it was moving.

Everyone seemed to forgot about it. Still good just hope it doesnt lose too much focus. As they say in the army KISS. (Keep it simple stupid). Dont get too far into each minute detail.

If they are already dead, how do 2 more people die? I guess the idea of purgatory is that you move on, not that you die again.

I personally like the idea of the island playing off your mind somehow. What you want (or don't want) to see will be there. Playing off both desire and fear. I would bet that the woman that believes her husband is still alive with the other people in the tail of the plane will probably run into her husband because that is what she wants.

For instance, everyone that went up to check for a signal with the transceiver wanted to hear a signal. Well, they heard a signal, just not one that they were expecting. Playing off both the desire and the fear of the group.
