If they are already dead, how do 2 more people die? I guess the idea of purgatory is that you move on, not that you die again.

I personally like the idea of the island playing off your mind somehow. What you want (or don't want) to see will be there. Playing off both desire and fear. I would bet that the woman that believes her husband is still alive with the other people in the tail of the plane will probably run into her husband because that is what she wants.

For instance, everyone that went up to check for a signal with the transceiver wanted to hear a signal. Well, they heard a signal, just not one that they were expecting. Playing off both the desire and the fear of the group.
nice theory.

the purgatory thing may work like this: when someone is "admitted", they "die" from this world.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not negating your idea but man, it would suck to have to die twice. Particularly having to die the way that they did. One drowning and one bungled gun shot so you get smothered to death. If it is purgatory, having to die in a plane crash and then to die again the way that they did, that would be a truly cruel world to live in.

I'm not sure that I like the time travel idea either. It doesn't make sense to me with the 16 year old message. It would stand to reason that if two groups of people were stranded on this island that they would end up travelling back to the same time period. Sort of a time vaccuum. But this group ends up being stranded 16 years later than the previous group? It just doesn't really jive in my mind.

Four survivors have actually died:
The Pilot
The Guy sucked into the Jet Engine
The Marshall
The Girl who couldn't swim

46 are currently left.

Tidbit: Last episode was entitled "White Rabbit" References to Alice in Wonderland. Also - one of the characters was seen reading the book "Watership Down", which is about a group of rabbitts that have to survive in new surroundings.

Great show again last night!

If you missed it, another chance to catch up on Saturday:

www.abc.com.

Actually, last two shows!!

Saturday, October 23, 8 pm est/7c & 9 pm est/8c

"Walkabout" & "White Rabbit"
Get caught up with the last two episodes of Lost! Survivors are jolted awake in the middle of the night when wild island beasts invade the beach encampment. Kate and Michael join the mysterious Locke on a hunt for food — and a shocking secret about Locke is revealed. Then, Jack is near delirious from lack of sleep, Boone gets caught in a treacherous riptide, the pregnant Claire's health takes a bad turn, and a thief may have stolen the last bottles of water.

I think the bald guy who was in a wheelchair has found out the secret of the island. If you "think" it it till come true perhaps?

He found the guys guitar but had the confidence that he could all along. Also explains how he got the boar. He WANTED it. He also WANTED to walk. The doctor WANTED to see his dad.

Also with the group splitting up I dont get why they dont build a "lookout" on the beach and everyone goes to the waterfall/caves and rotates duty out at the lookout.

The personal profiles one at a time will get old quickly....

And why did the "monsters" go away? Is it because everyone was scared when they first landed thus created the "unseen" monsters. But now as they focus on survival the non existant monsters are never seen?

Best.episode.yet!!

Still trying to figure out what exactly is going on - Purgatory, Aliens, etc?

I like the flashbacks - really fleshes out why the characters are on this flight, which I think will prove to be the key to the entire show.

Loved the Korean flashback - explains a lot - very touching how he won her back at the Airport. The Korean woman is a great actor.

Interesting observation - the two bodies found in the cave seemed to be dressed like Jack and Kate where -- time loop??

Maybe even Amelia Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan.

Notice the backgammon pieces Jack found on the body? We've seen backgammon pieces before in the show (episode 2, I think).

Agreed, SWD - why don't they rotate between cave/water source and the beach - both places make sense to be at.

Interesting. Has all the flashbacks been of someone upset or sad?

Jack's flashback showed how he got to Australia - going after his estranged dad, who ended up dead (OD'd). Jack was seen arguing with ticket clerk (he was in line right before the Koreans) about getting his Dad's casket on the plane.

Locke (bald dude) showed him in a Wheelchair, trying to go on a walkabout. Because he was paralyzed, he was refused. The crash somehow cured him (He had been paralyzed in a wreck).

Kate's flashback showed her hitchhiking, then breaking into a barn to sleep - a fugitive from the law. She worked for a one-armed farmer (nice nod to "The Fugitive", until he turned her in for the reward to save his farm. The marshall that captured her died in Episode 3 (badly hurt in crash).

and the asian lady was crying. So they were all angry or sad....

Hey Jon dont discount my idea of thinking things and they come true. The wheelchair guy WANTED to walk again badly. And Jacks's father was never found....many other examples.

Not discounted that theory at all - very plausible in fact.

Very interesting theory...the thing is, they could easily NOT be doing that as they could be...I mean, nothing seems magical yet, other than that beast.

The druggie guy needs to learn that secret...so he can have all the heroine he wants.

Still, he obviously is someone who wants the drugs BAD, yet he hasn't seen anything come true for him.

I love this show...

And apparently, 47 is a big number for JJ in Alias and now Lost. So, I think there will always be 47 people (though not necessarily survivors of this plane crash) on the island.

Oh, to be a writer on the show. What an experience!

Well, that's my point. If JJ wants to keep 47, what's going to happen to keep it there?

Besides, we have a birth on the way, don't we?

Yes - Birth, also possibility of what if the French Lady that sent the 16 year old distress signal is still alive on the island..........

This my favorite show now on network TV.

I like the thought of the loop. Especially with the dead people they found ending up being the Doctor and the lead girl. ie: He takes the badminton pieces out of the dead guys pocket, and then puts them in his. Didn't notice if it was the same pocket though.

*************SPOILERS***************

Well, not like a ton of things happened last night, but a really cool story about Pippen and his drug habit....I enjoyed that...especially Locke's determination to help hiim beat it.

But like some of you above are theorizing, the island holds some mystic....like Saaid (whatever his name is) said, they shouldn't have survived that crash...

Maybe something mystical is happening on the island...

That guys sister who fired the fireworks for him, the blonde, is just drop dead gorgeous.....

I still say if you want it bad enough the island makes a way for it to happen.....
