We pretty much assumed that we would try to pawn off Eisley or White to the Bobcats, but both??

Is that even legal?

All anyone write about is the ability of the team to protect another player once one is taken.

Would it be worth giving up two picks and $6 million to dump two contracts? If neither of the picks are in the top 5, I'm at least marginally interested. I really, really want to get rid of the Eisley contract.

Good point.

Most people are convinced that there is no way we'll be able to improve the Phoenix Suns if we sign Kobe Bryant. And that just isn't true.

I'm actually excited to see how Little Jake continues over the rest of the season. IMO, these past few games are not flukes for him, and he can continue this high level of play if he truly wants to. And if he does, coupled with Jahidi's bruising play, how vital does acquiring a "middle tier", i.e. average, center become?

Right. If they continue, they ARE middle tier, average centers.

BTW, I am loving the way Jake is playing. I love it the way opposing players complain constantly to the refs about him, and get angry when Jake is guarding them. I love having a big guy who'll claw and scratch and do whatever he can to make a difference on the court. While he might not be a starter (and that is debatable) he is a keeper.

Duncan is arguably the best player in the NBA right now, and he actually praised Jake specifically about the job he does on him. That's a great compliment, where most guys would just do the requisite "Yeah, they always get up to play us" nonsense.

The Bobcats can only take 1 player from each team. The rules where you can protect an additional player when 1 of yours is taken is when there are 2 new teams.

However they could try just trading 1 of them to another team.

Since I'm not a doctor, I cannot predict which player will be healthy in the future and which will not. No one is worried about Kobe reinjuring his shoulder. I guess I'd want a fairly complete evaluation of any player but especially one with a recurring injury.

In the same vein, I'd rather give Marion + 2 1st-rounders even the NY first one + 3 mil cash to Bobcats in expansion. The only problem is that they might not want to take it.

And what's the point of that trade? Waste of our talents?

That is horrible. Even without the New York picks it is plain dumb.

My God, with the level of draft picks we will have, that would be conceivably Marion and players such as Amare and JJ (2 1st rounders) to the Bobcats! That is unbelievable!

This belief that Marion is wildly overpaid is a recurring theme by certain people on this board. I think he is overpaid, but not wildly so. Leave Marion open to the Bobcats (no bribes) an he is gone in a heartbeat - and the Colgangelos would never live it down.
