Barkley's arm imo is better than it appears. He throws with timing and touch. He doesn't throw hard unless he needs to.

At least that's what I've seen.

To make it more easy to understand, he could throw at 100 percent velocity or 90 percent most times, but it appears he throws more like 60-70, and it appears average.

One could say in the NFL it will have to go up to 75-85 at least on almost every throw, so there is some concern, but not as much as I think is being mentioned..... on this issue alone.

I want to see more of him this season, but right now he's 1st-2nd QB available next year.

Of course his OL protecting him gives him more time, and here, he would have significantly less, but at least last night he had 6 td's and 1 INT. Not exactly bad. But we've also had a QB I did not like in Leinart, so I understand an arm, when applied, that seems like a noodle, even if stronger (though for Leinart still mediocre at best), is a concern.

People have to remember there is no such thing as a whammy, or anything else. You have to (or the people that make the decisions) treat each player as an individual, and how they fit in with your team and its ideologies. We really can't go on.... any USC QB is no good. That just abdicates responsibility in figuring out if he is good or not.

It's definitely tougher because he plays at USC, but you just can't throw in the towel, or else, however small of a risk, you might miss out on THE QB as fans we long for.

I still like what I see from Barkley, but I agree I really want to see him throw harder, often. It is important, since he'll need to in the NFL. I want to see how he does on those throws. I want to see him in adversity like he might find here behind our line.

I swear... if we touch this kid with a ten and half foot pole, I'll be... well... not surprised in the least, but completely disgusted.

I've said it for years... the kid's not an elite NFL QB prospect IMO.

Well, Stanford beat the tar out of him, he got rattled at times, and he had a poor game overall. I was really surprised by how lousy the USC oline was. But, a game like this is going to give everyone second thoughts about where they are ranking him.

IT seems like the area where the sanctions hurt USC was depth on the lines. So guys moved on and now the replacements just aren't what we're used to seeing from USC.

I only saw bits and pieces but Barkley didn't look good at all when I was watching. Game probably cost him a shot at the Heisman.

Just one of those games.

Not much to be said, USC got handled in every facet. Barkley looked like crap. That Oline rivals the Cardinals in terms of incompetency. D looked incredibly soft.

The great Robert Woods and Marquise Lee didnt do enough. When the QB is struggling, its up the WRs to make themselves easier targets. These 2 are the best WRs in college football, and they let Barkley flounder.

It hurt him, but cost him, I disagree.

In order for him to lose it completely, thered have to be someone who clearly overtakes him, and despite this loss, I still dont think anyone else is close yet. Nobody has really distinguished themselves. Geno Smith maybe. But thats a long maybe.

I don't think I';ve ever seen a USC olineman get his butt beat as bad as that center did. It was like DJ Young in the middle of that line

You probably couldn't watch after seeing Cal give it away to OSU. Tedford should have went for it on 4th. Bigelow was impressive and I liked their Center #57, I think, even though he was not very good at snapping in the shotgun. Cal definitely outplayed them.

That situation is what it's like to be a Cardinals QB.

I really like matt scott (Arizona wildcat). He is accurate and seems to take good. Decisions, he is quick and when the receivers are well covered he can gain some yards scrambling.if he can keep playing like this he can be' a first rounder.my top on the board now is geno smith

yeah...I am on the Geno Smith bandwagon

If we collapse and end up with the top pick, I'm on the trade the pick bandwagon. Even if this season proves beyond a doubt that we need a starting QB, I think we're better off with the trade value of the number one pick than any of the QB's coming out. In twenty years, the 2012 draft will be known as the year of the quarterback, 2013 won't be.

Didn't see any of the cal game either wasn't home.

Bigelow was a highly recruited RB out of Fresno but he had a major knee injury in HS that dropped him down the rankings. Cal was one of the few schools that kept recruiting him hard throughout so he went to Cal even though the big boys came around again late. Wasn't ready to go when he arrived at Cal and then reinjured the knee.

He had his moments last year on ST but was limited at RB. Everyone knows he's the most talented RB on the team he just needs to show he can get and stay healthy. Saw he had 2 big runs against TOSU which is hopefully a sign.

Edit: holy crap just saw the replay of the 81 yard run he broke 3-4 tackles in the backfield on that run pretty impressive

I think Scott is a great fit in Rich Rod's system, but don't think he's anywhere near an NFL caliber QB.

Russ & CBus:

I was very impressed with Cal's offense yesterday---big-play city!

The QB Zach Maynard throws a very good ball and has excellent mobility.

WR Keenan Allen is a stud---very Q-like---physical.

The Ohio State defense is ferocious---about as physical a college defense as there is.

Thus, for Maynard & Company to play as well as they did at Columbus---it speaks well to the talent and the coaching.

If they have so much talent and coaching, then why the loss to Nevada?

I still haven't seen him play this year, but even though it was against Jame Madison, these are some crazy stats for Geno Smith this past weekend:

34/39 411 yards and 5 TD's.

Maynard is terrible, wildly inaccurate misses high over the middle constantly. Basically Cal took him to get his brother, Keenan Allen IMO. He transferred from Buffalo(?) and committed to Cal same time Allen did.

I love Allen, he'll be a star in the NFL.

IMO he's very much like RGIII & getting better each year like Griffin did. In 3-4 yrs this kid might be a top 7-10 QB. A great arm & I think WVU has a shot to win the national championship.

Dang. Now we're jinxing college players. (Tyler Wilson) Do me a favor. Please don't talk about the Cardinals drafting any Texas players.

Well we don't have many seniors so the ASFN jinx can't really hurt the Longhorns.

Don't you talk about any of these QBs we've been talking about or I'll have you banned :mulli:

Hey it wasn't me. I think Tyler Wilson sucks. Just like everything else about those idiots at Arkansas who, after 15 years in the SEC,still have Texas as their #1 rival.
