Here is another look at the Suns roster.

Note, Jae Crowder is not on the active roster, which stands at 15.

Hopefully, the Suns roster will get bumped up to 17 later in the season. Both Duane Washington Jr. and Ish Wainright are on two-way contracts.

I can almost hear the crickets chirping. I'd think there would be more excitement for the season opener against the Mavericks than this.

Maybe it's because the Suns didn't really make any big off season moves, the pending sale of the team and the drama surrounding the contracts of Deandre Ayton, Jae Crowder and Cam Johnson.

It feels almost like a hangover from last season. Maybe it is.
As Suns fans we’re programmed to expect end of year disappointment. It feels like the end of 07/08’ where we probably know our window is closed yet have to wait thru 6 months of regular season basketball just get another shot at it. I think a sexy ownership change woukd spice things up for morale.

Suns need another forward that can rebound and shoot. Then add a combo guard that can shoot and Shazam... Championship.

Yeah, I am far from convinced it is that simple.

I think the Suns either need 2 more good players, or Ayton realizing his full potential to put themselves into real contention - and that is going to be very hard to pull off.

But even if they do that with the amount of talented teams this season, a lot is going to come down to luck, be that injury luck, or simply the ball bouncing the right way in a game 7.

I was trying to inject some humor, but I do think this is what the Suns need.

That bench lineup looks really ugly.

I just don’t have any faith in this season I’m sorry. We didn’t address PG, We didn’t get another shot creator two things we desperately needed, Depth got much worse

I see us as a 5-8 seed with no real hope for a championship unless something changes.

When I'm hoping a two-way player (Duane Washington Jr.) becomes a rotation player, yeah, that's a weak bench.

He is the only playmaker and shooter the Suns added. Their depth at forward is incredibly weak.

Also have to hope Landry Shamet turns the corner this season.

Too many question marks when it comes to depth.

The Suns have made up their mind that Cam Johnson will be their starting power forward.

Dario is very versatile, but he is generally at a disadvantage defensively against quicker power forwards. His strength is as a small ball center, where he can score inside and out, pass and rebound.

Dario can play some power forward against certain lineups, but his strength is as a backup center. The problem is, he has a couple of good centers ahead of him in Ayton and Landale.

Yep. I think whoever we start at the 4 is going to be a liability defensively depending on the matchup. Cam is too small/light to battle the bigger ones. Dario isn't quick enough to stay with the others. I just don't think Cam's scoring is needed in the starting line up, but it sure is needed off the bench.

It didn't get much worse, we are basically just down Crowder since Landale sure seems to be equal if not superior to McGee.

I am actually holding out some hope Shamet plays much better. I know that may be wishful thinking, but he does actually have the ability.

In theory Payne, Shamet, Craig, Dario, and Landale could be passable - although I will grant you things would need to go right.

What I am really hoping is we get someone like SGA at the deadline, although that will further erode some depth, we will still be better off.

It's the same forwards we had last season plus Dario and minus Crowder.

That's not really a huge difference.

I understand it feels worse than that, but it really isn't.

Suns may have to go big more often than they might like because the backup depth is weak at forward.

Saric, who is best as a small ball center, may need to play more with another big man in the lineup. One of the centers may have to play some power forward.

Dario is really a small ball center and the Suns didn't replace Crowder.

Who is going to guard Doncic? Bridges will need help.
