Man it just dawned on me . . . with what’s been swirling around the Arizona football program the school is just in the worst place I could imagine athletically.

I don’t know why, maybe because I always believed UofA was a superior academic school - but why should that matter? - I always expected ASU to be the school besmirched with the awfulness that is UofA athletics at present.

Dude this sucks. But man a LOT of you were sanctimonious as hell, so should you be shocked people come in here and call you guys out as being a HELL of lot less connected than you all lead us to believe?

I just hope this isn’t the death of the program. Arizona has long been a great program but this is the ugliest of black marks. And they aren’t Kentucky or Duke. I’ll be sadly not surprised if the program slides back to a lesser destination for the foreseeable future (even post-sanctions).

Man does Sean Miller suck. And although I still want to draft ayton, this is a bad look.

I could give a crap what it looks like for Ayton. Don't care. Still want him.

Here's the worst part... I don't have an illusions that Miller was the only guy to do this. I'm sure Coach K, Williams did it too. But at least those guys were good enough coaches to WIN in the tournament doing it!

Miller brought us BORING basketball... meaningless regular season wins... underachieving tournament hearbreak... and SCANDAL.

Good freaking riddance.

I agree they all likely do it too. But I refuse to believe that K and Roy have ever been stupid enough to be recorded THEMSELVES on a call.

Agree with that.

I’m looking forward to fellow cats fans going Devin Nunes/Hannity tomorrow on this Miller story. That should be entertaining to read during my mid-morning crap tomorrow.

Not so bad here as some of the other UA forums (although maybe some of the posters reside on multiple sites)... but talk about living in a delusional bubble. I think that comes from that athletic program being the only thing going in a small college city.

I’ve never been in massive denial about this but it’s different if you’re a diehard fan. Fans are obviously not thinking with an unbiased opinion.

Yeah... but it’s not like posters like TJ/Mao ONLY follow the Cats. Those guys are all Arizona sports in general (save ASU of course).

Screw that.

I am as die-hard for all my Arizona teams... but if someone showed proof Gonzo went Gonzo on roids during the 2001 WS season, I’d say...

“NO SH*T! Did you see those bulging veins in my World Series DVD?!”

Loving your teams shouldn’t make you blind to their actions.

Btw how about the mess Dave Heeke inherited. Jesus he has his work cut out for him.

At some point, Byrne has to be pulled back to Tucson to answer for some of this, especially when these lawsuits start gaining steam.

Track, hoops, RichRod, etc. Byrne left this department a disaster. If Heeke quit tonight, I wouldn't blame him one bit.

I am stunned if Miller was really dumb enough to do that with Ayton and got caught on tape.

But Yahoo just blew up your entire team. For those who haven't seen it, they are reporting Arizona wanted Brian Bowen so badly to sweeten the deal with Dawkins, they offered to have Rawle Alkins sign with Dawkins(he's the kid who already got paid we knew that) and they had Pasternack steer Lauri Markannen to an agent connected to Andy Miller! So they in effect delivered 2 players to the agent to try and get Bowen, and he still picked Louisville.

If all this is true, you have to play tomorrow without Miller as coach, and without Ayton, Trier and Alkins. This is beyond stunning, it's unbelievable.

Miller must have lost his mind, he wanted to make the FF that badly he killed a program over it.

He may have lost his mind a while ago. Miller and Book go back to Xavier. Hell Archie may be lucky this investigation only goes back 3 years.

More to come. Just.. wow.

Playing some revisionist history here:

Back in 2015, Arizona lost another E8 to Wisconsin and the narrative about Miller not being about to break the seal started to grow and grow. That was the year he sent out that infamous tweet that said something to the effect of, "You can go root for ASU."

The following season was the one in which Ray Smith tore an ACL and Miller missed out on some big time recruits and transfers and lost to 11 seed Wichita State. Pressure continues to mount.

Fast forward to 2017, another big time class and great team, and then he loses to his former employer Xavier and student, Chris Mack in the S16. That loss never sat well for him.

Then he lands arguably the best player in college basketball and a slew of other nice recruits and then the FBI stuff comes out. Miller is a mess, puts weight back on, and his team is tight as a drum to start the season.

Additionally, Miller is allegedly separated from his wife and will be getting a divorce.

Sounds like the rails came off about three years ago.

Coach Flop Sweat is gonna need five backup shirts if he coaches tomorrow.

And then another ten to get through the post-game presser.

Personally, I grew up in Phoenix, but ended up moving to So Az as a teenager, and later attended/graduated from UA... and have resided in Tucson for most of my life since.

As a kid growing up in Phoenix, I rooted for both ASU and UA, and was actually a big fan of those 1970s Snowden basketball teams. But being down here all these years, I have grown to hate the UA athletic teams... in spite of being an alum myself. A large proportion of the fan base here - not to mention the local media - are just that insufferable. As in remember the "Chicago Bears Superfans" sketches they used to do on SNL back in the 1980s? That is a pretty accurate encapsulation of the average Cat fan you encounter here in Tucson on a daily basis.

Miller not getting rid of Book after the PGU thing as well. Imagine Coach K keeping an assistant who was selling info to a shady website.

The divorce is no surprise now. Feel bad for the wife and kids in today’s internet troll world.

Forgot about the PGU crap. That never sat well with me, especially since we all knew it was Book sharing information.

Amy deleted her Twitter account recently. I checked on some of her mentions and man, they were nasty to her post-complaint revelation.

There’s no way... Right?

The optics would be insane not too mention Oregon fans recreating the Walk of Atonement.

And as I said all along, I fully expected UCLA to get involved in this too. The Yahoo story that exposes Pasternack and Alkins in it also says Dawkins was on the phone with Etop of Compton Magic discussing things too, so it's pretty likely at least some of the kids UCLA got from them are going to wind up tied into this eventually.

The Pac 12 may not have any teams eligible for this years tourney

It would be uglier than Cersei’s naked walk of shame through Westeros.

As much as I have always hated au, not even I dared to dream of a day of savage vengeance like this. Jesus, au is screwed for 10 to 20 years.

10-20 years? Penn State took less than five after Sandusky. Obviously, the magnitude is heavy, but like all things, this too shall pass. There is more than enough fan and booster support for Arizona hoops to get over this mess in a few years.
