It will be nothing. Arizona will get a 1 or 2 year postseason ban and vacate some wins, that's pretty much it. Miller won't coach at Arizona again but there was a good chance due to family issues that was going to be the case next season regardless. Arizona is still going to win the Pac-12 and DeAndre Ayton will likely be the #1 pick in the draft. Their success going forward will be dependent on who is going to be coaching their team next season like it is at every NCAA program.
People like Ouchie and Cheese at their core just really don't have any depth to the conversations they are engaging in on this board. To their credit they're well-educated and knowledgeable in many areas, but the depth of their knowledge is minimal and this case is exactly that. They are hot take, cap lock, sports talk radio mouth breathers. And when Arizona is off the hook in a couple years and Miller is on an NBA bench if I'm still around maybe I'll remind them of all this.
It's easy this morning and last night to read the headlines and surmise that the world is crumbling but if you actually follow college sports you know that these things always blow very quickly because I have seen countless other programs go through worse and came out as good or better on the other side pretty quickly. It's easy to mock and throw stones but if you really understand college sports you know that everyone is engaging in similar activities. And you also know the entire thing is a sham but for love of university or sport, you watch anyways. What's harder is to connect dots, understand nuance, and have a larger perspective about a subject.
Really it's just pathetic. It's pathetic there is a system in place where an adult has to resort to borderline illegal activities just to get less than 10% of their open market value. It's pathetic Miller can't keep his house in order both at home and in the office (this refers to the Pitts thing as much as the FBI). It's pathetic people are getting dragged through the mud for a player getting paid when those casting the stones almost universally agree the same players should get paid. It's pathetic people can't read an article, do some research, and realize that once you get past the headlines it's likely your favorite team is probably in trouble too.
Just remember as long as Arizona fans pack McKale every night and support the program we will be fine.
