Missed extra point, Dumb fake FG and EDGE

Add bad tackling and an inexplicable replay call that goes against us.

Have to add the defense to that list. They played very poorly in the second half.

It was a good call on the FG...the TE just couldn't pick up the first.

It is so frustrating. The Cardinals could have easily won this game. What the hell happened during the third quarter?

Yes it is. And no it wasnt a good call on the FG It wasnt a good call because we obviously dont have the personnell speed wise to execute it. Donald your opinion is jaded. You think every gadget call is a good one. Have all year.

Yep, I do. I like gadget plays and Whis doesn't overplay his hand with them. The thing about gadget plays is that everyone loves it when they work, and freak the ef out when they fail. You can't have it both ways. You freak the ef out on them all the time. Have all year.
And Shane, even with the FG we'd have lost. We can't freaking tackle. That's the problem. Fitting end giving them 13 yards up the middle to kneel the clock out. 23 points is enough to win, but even 26 wouldn't have worked today. Whose fault is that? The defense's. Tackling like a bunch of strippers out there.

no it wasn't. You're on the road and have a chance to make it a guaranteed two score game. Instead you put the ball in the hands of your Punter and backup TE to make a play. It was an idiotic call.
lots of problems today. Levi gets a 15 yarder and gives up two sacks, Rolle continues not to be able to tackle or make a play to save his life, the defense goes el-foldo on the road and the offense, which had been dominant, disappears when the chips are down (something we've seen in both close road games).
just too many mistakes against a good team on the road.
it's not the end of the world but it's a reality check. We're pretty much a 9-7 club, ceiling of 10-6 and lucky to play in a horrendous division. But that's okay. I didn't expect us to be Super Bowl contenders. Fun, but frustrating game to watch.
oh yeah, and Edge should be cut TOMORROW. He's useless out there. completely useless. If we cut him now and were able to get any kind of cap savings to make extensions, it would be a better benefit that having his completely useless butt out there. the guy is finished.
I don't really care too much about this loss, but I'd run that fake FG everytime there. 7 times out of ten, we get the first. It was a good play...the TE just couldn't make the play. Patrick or pope probably would have.
But it's moot, and that's my point. We could have scored on that play and probably would have still lost because our defense could NOT make a stop. Terrible tackling.

Whiz seems to think that we can't win w/out trying at least one trick play every game. Seriously, every damn game. You think after a while teams might start looking for it?

Disagree... while these may show point wise the real reason was HORRIBLE TACKLING... this team needs to go back to high school to learn some basic tackling.

agreed. I bought into to it last year when it seemed like he had to gamble to get us out of the same old same old, but he doesn't need to do it with this team. Offensively, this team CAN just steamroll people without fake FGs or Halfback option passes that have no chance to work.

I totally agree with you on the defense. They are the main unit to blame for the loss.
But, no way in hell that call would work 7 of 10 times against that defense. They had a SPY, just watching for a fake. And, we had 16 yards to go. Play shouldn't have been run. Timeout should've been called against that alignment. #30 would've had to have had his head completely buried in his ass to get beat by any TE on that call.

Tuman does not have the speed to make the play and Johnson's pass took forever to get to him.
Don't like the call at that point in the game at all.

Shane your wrong!!! The play was there for a 1st down and probably a TD. Execution by the punter keep the play from working. Johnson threw the ball like a schoolgirl causing Tuman to have to wait on the ball and thus get caught by a defender coming from the other side of the field.

oh my god, I forgot that we had 16 yards to go. I thought it was weird that he was still so far from getting the first down. Jesus, that makes that decision not only dumb, but beyond ********.

uh, isn't that part of the problem? You're depending on your punter to make a play on 4th and 16?

How on earth is it a good idea to call a play to a guy who couldn't make the play?
Thing is, the play worked as designed. The TE was wide open, and the punter hit him with an accurate if less than powerful throw, which is all that you can really expect from a punter. It worked... It just wasn't equipped to pick up the yards it needed to. Thus, it was a terrible call in that situation. It's like taking a two point shot from the field in basketball when you're down by three with no time on the clock.

I agree with Donald, the play was actually set up pretty well, if the guy fires the ball right when he stands up the receiver would have had a minimum first down if not a TD.
Shoddy tackling killed us along with Edge's fumble and the ball that he tipped up in the red zone that was picked.
