Sure

But when I look up MVP's, then I look to see which NBA MVP's have never played in the NBA Finals. . only two names pop us

Kevin Garnett & Steve Nash

Those are fact and not technicalities.

Who's the only player to win two MVP's and never play in the NBA Finals?

There's playing in the finals and then there's choking in the finals...

Here's some trivia for you.

Who are the only MVPs never to play in the NBA Finals?

Thanks. Now here is some trivia for you.

How many MVPs have failed to advance in the opening round since 1982?

1. Dirk.

How many MVPs have failed to lead their #1 seeded team past the 1st round since the opening round became a best of 7?

1. Dirk.

How many MVPs have lead their team to 65 wins or more and failed to win in the 1st round?

1. Dirk.

How many MVPs in history have the dubious honor of being the first to lead their team to a 1st round loss by the number eight seed in a seven-game playoff series?

1. Dirk.

How many MVPs have had such a poor showing when on a #1 seeded playoff team that no only did he lead his team to a 1st round loss but is now considered the worst in NBA history?

1. Dirk.

Give me ANY MVP EVER who at least in the same season made a run in the playoffs then an MVP who embarrassed his team, himself and the NBA by such a poor showing in the same season in the playoffs.

We gotcha though. Rock on.

MVP had a great game, shooting 61 percent with 34, 8 and 6 to go up 2-0 on the Jazz, and his +18 led all Lakers.

Just more of the same play that got him the hardware...

I like how this is worded. The MVP went up 2-0 on the Jazz...oh and his teammates came along as well.

Did he not go up 2-0 on the Jazz?

I think he also already made it crystal clear that he didn't win the award...the Lakers did. He said we won this award.

Whine, whine, whine...goes with your cheese.

Relax. I didn't hear his proclamation about the Lakers winning the award, by the way. And who's whining? I just wrote that I thought it was amusing how you wrote that sentence. Don't be mad that you let a little of that me-me-me-me-me stuff your hero is known for show through. It's okay. You call me a whiner, when nothing of the sort can be inferred by my post?

Hmm, since the thread is about the MVP, is it shocking a post would be about his stats in the game that put them up 2-0, and not about the stellar play of the rest of the team?

Or do you really want to hear me gush about Pau, Fish, The Machine, Lamar's yet-again-double-double, et al. Because I can. And I gleefully will.

Heh heh heh. You are so defensive. I wasn't picking on the subject of your post. It was perfectly at home in this thread. All I noted was that I liked how it was written with just a little bit of Kobe's arrogance sprinkled in for flavor. I liked it. It made me chuckle.

Isn't this where Linderbee comes in and tells me that you don't care what I think?

Do you have a crush on Linderbee or something?

lol, Bitter?

Atleast Dirk dropped 50 on you and got his team to the Finals. Yo haven't even been Western Confrence Champions since Barkley. Good job, but I'll take someone who takes control of games and gets the job done instead of having 3 turnovers in the final 2 minutes of elimination games. You guys are bigger chokers than the Mavs are b/c you have more talent, but you are soft and play no D. Have fun with your SSOL Offense . . . at least the Mavs have a Western Confrence Title to show for the last 4 season. . . what do you have? A couple of Pacific Division Crowns and a book? Good job.

Look, I'm just saying, Nowitzki was a deserving MVP, don't drag his name through the mud just to make a point about Kobe's MVP win.

Of course he is deserving, don't mind some of these people they're just being the usual haters. Dirks a great player and was deserving of his accolades.

Not bitter at all. In fact I have no problem with Dirk getting the MVP that year. I just thought since you were in the trivia mood and trying to compare MVP's I would make it clear that almost any MVP in any given year was more reliable then Dirk and no MVP has been a bigger embarrassment to their team in the same year. Takes nothing away from his regular season accomplishment or the fact he was deserving.

PS. If Dirk was able to get the job done...he would have shown up in the playoffs that year.

PSS Not getting a title is not getting a title regardless of how far you get. So if you want to hang your hat on that....Congrats.

Western Confrence Title buddy, better than a Pacific Confrence banner.

So yes, I'll hang my hat on it. You can hang your hat on not being able to beat the Spurs in 3 out of the last 4 playoffs, and getting torched for 50 by someone you claim "never shows up".

Can we leave it at that or do you wanna keep going?

Oooh...scary.
I like how you throw the Spurs in our faces. Does Dirk play for the Spurs? I don't think anyone is saying Dirk stinks. But when you pound your chest about how awesome Dirk is, be prepared to be presented with his failings ON A SUNS BOARD.

By the way, the Pacific is a Division...also an ocean...

I understand completely, and I didn't want to get into this, but when you throw Dirk under the bus to try and justify why Nash is a better MVP than Kobe. . . I'm not gonna stand for it either. . even if it is a Suns board. You guys act like Nash is the end-all be-all of MVP's "There were none before and there will be none after."

Nowitzki performed at or in some cases above Nash's level for the 3 years that the two spilt MVP's, to say that Nowitzki didn't desereve his is a ridiculous statement.

I can keep going all day if all you have to show is you WC banner and want to honestly say that erases the choke jobs during that WCF trip and subsequent playoff performance by Dirk. So let me be the first to say congratulations on your almost title win. Why I am at it, let me say congrats to all 8 teams who made the playoffs and didn't win a title either that year. Rejoice!!!!

However, that's not what my original post was about. It was about you comparing Dirk the MVP to Nash the MVP.

PS. I never said Nash was the best MVP either. However, I agree you thumped your chest and tried to throw Nash under the bus which I was responding too. So bringing up Dirk's MVP year and subsequent bad playoff performance doesn't hold up to any other MVPs performance in recent history. Period.

If you were going to argue who was a better MVP then Nash, you shouldn't have used Dirk...it's a bad example.

Kobe is a good player, but unfortunately for him, someone else always stands out and has a better season. Whether it be Nash, Shaq, Kobe, Nowitzki, etc. The ONLY reason Kobe is winning it this year is that he has not won it yet. The award is completely subjective, which makes it absurd. Take last season for example. Steve Nash had a much better season than Nowitzki, but a majority of the people who vote for the award were interviewed and when asked why they didnt vote for Nash, the reason given was that "we just feel that Nash shouldn't be shown in the same light as Michael Jordan and Larry Bird."

As for this year, you can make an argument for two players winning the award before Kobe: CP3 and LeBron. Both had much better, more well-rounded seasons and were completely snubbed. A lot of it was marketing too. Had CP3 or LeBron been in L.A., they would be unanimously chosen. And speaking of childish, who was the whiny bitch who kept complaining about his teammates and wanting to leave LA?

And BTW, while I do respect you on the Cards board, you gotta understand you are in hostile territory when you are a Laker fan entering the Suns board. We do not like the Lakers. We do not like Kobe. And passionate fans, such as myself, will use any tactics to insult the competition, and vice-versa. Get used to it. Its called a "rivalry." I lived in enemy territory (Los Angeles) for three years before moving back to Phoenix, and got the rough treatment I deserved for being a Suns fan. As a matter of fact, I almost threw down with a Laker fan in Staples center when they were playing the Suns. Bottom line: if you cant take the heat, get out of the kitchen!!!

See what I mean?

Totally subjective and uncalled for.

It's more than you have to show for it.

Nice choke job by Nashy boy versus the Spurs btw. How many turnovers in the last minute?

Get over yourself and let it die.

Again, you want to talk about WC titles? Last time I checked Suns have 2 and Mavs have 1. So you really want to hang your hat on the fact that you have a more recent one? I think you need to get over yourself. Besides, this wasn't about who has the most Western Conference titles. You threw WC title into the mix. Notice how I didn't bring up the Suns WC title into the argument. Why? Because they hold no water. It's still not a title win.

This was about you trying to compare Dirk to any MVP in recent memory. Oh and not having a leg to stand on.

Dirk versus Nash

WC Titles

Dirk 1 Nash 0

That's sad considering how much talent Nash has around him and how little talent Dirk has around him in comparison.
