kerouac9, do you think that I might have added a smiley face (SF) for a reason? You do know what think means, right?

I thought you were shouting out the 49ers for some reason. Nowhere on the internet have I ever seen those initials used instead of the number of actual smilies that are available.

Every day that the team can keep $$ to be paid in bonuses in their bank, rather than in the players' banks, it means more $$ and interest for the team. Probably why (Az) lower level picks get signed first. (SF)

a couple things:

"signing bonuses" as described are rarely exactly that -- there is certainly a check on the day the deal is signed, but not in the full amount of the reported bonus -- its guaranteed, but paid over a schedule ( this is true NFL wide)

also, interest from the bank these days is absurdly low -- if you assume $5 million in bonuses total -- they might save maybe $2,000 if they wait a full month.

I doubt that $2k is really motivating them

More than 70 percent of the 2015 NFL Draft already signed

Specifically, 180 of the 256 picks already had their deals by the close of business Friday, including 19 of the 32 first-rounders.

There’s no real reason not to sign immediately, though the Rams have held off in the past until they’ve put their picks through some financial training sessions.

And with the deals being so simple, four players have decided to save the commission and represent themselves.

Giants tackle Ereck Flowers (the ninth overall pick), Lions cornerback Alex Carter (third round), Redskins receiver Evan Spencer (sixth), and Cardinals tight end Gerald Christian (seventh) are going without agents.
