And furthermore, cheese, Donaghy agrees that it was not continuation. And say what you want about him, but making calls in the NBA was his JOB. Not Barkley or Breen or JVG's job...his.

Also, he doesn't see the one-sided affair you and cly are seeing, either. Nor did Bill Simmons in his running commentary. Nor did I. I thought it was bad both ways sometimes, nobody getting much of an upper hand and a lot of "let 'em play" towards the second half. When you have a Laker fan, and a hardcore Celtic fan like Simmons both thinking the same way, and throw in a villian ref who loves to rattle Stern's cage, I'm not going to trust your opinion on it.

again, i'll take Kenny, Charles, the entire crew on NBA on ABC, my entire house of hard-core Laker fans and my own eyes over a shamed referee, Simmons who bitched so much during Game 3 that he probably felt like a jack-ass doing it again and one of the most homerific Laker fans in the world.

Your smarm in bold right there says more than enough. Go to Lakersground and you'll see homerific - I'm probably one of the less homerific Laker fans out there...not the most but FFS cheese, you're not even within reason right now. We're arguing about the technicalities around the continuation call, not team anything vs anything. It could be the Hawks vs. the Nets and I'd say the same thing, a foul while dribbling does not earn continuation if the dribble hasn't completed.

The haterade runs deep in your veins, man. Now you are flat out making things up about me. That's awesome. Silly, but awesome.

Bottom line, a guy who made his living by making the type of calls we are talking about does not call that a continuation. He got disgraced for working with bookies to influence games, not for being a ref who missed all kinds of calls. I'll take his word over your house of hardcore Lakerfans and the entertainer tools on national broadcasts, including my sports idol Magic Johnson.

Tell me, did your hardcore Lakerfan friends slowmo that play to actually see what happened, or did they just follow along with your angry outburst and not want to appear like the most homerific fans in the world? I routinely play back things that look odd to see whether I was right or wrong, and often I'll say "nope, that was a bad call we got away with" or "yep, they got that one right." That was a yep. According to the ref on the floor and the ref fresh out of cuffs.

The best part of this series is listening to the Celtic fans' chants during the game. I literally LMAO when Lamar Odom was at the line and the arena broke out with the "UG-LY SIS-TER" chant. Classic!

I'm sure Simmons was proud...

I think the three second call against KG when the ball had only been across the center line 4 seconds was one of the strangest I can remember. Not only do the refs mostly ignore the 3 second rule, they generally just hit each side once a game and then go back to ignoring it again.

It's another topic, but I think a nationwide campaign to get rid of Stern is really necessary if officiating is ever going to improve.

Donald,

I'm a little biased against the Lakers, so I might overlooked some bad calls against the Lakers in game 4. But Gasol really gets too many favorable calls. Maybe I just can't get over his flop in game 6 crunch time that got Amare called for offensive foul. ;)

Anyways, for the little time I had watching parts of the games, I really like this series. Great basketball for sure. No easy basket on either side. Kobe is unreal for hitting all those tough hand-in-the-face long jumpers. But give Celtics credit that he just doesn't get good looks for basket in the paint.

Watching the pregame for game 5 and I have an honest question. I am not trying to be insensitive or make fun of him in ANY way, I'm just wondering, has Stewart Scott's eye always been like that? It's all bloodshot and drifting off to the left. Did he have a stroke or an accident or something? I have been watching him on sportcenter forever and I never noticed it.

Just wondering.

Lakers lose alright boston yea that rim call was defintally questionable... Great win for boston, oh yeah and those two missed freethrows by artest were huge.... I still fully expect this series to go 7 games, and it will be hard for boston to win game 7 in LA. But go boston want to see them beat the lakers so bad!!!!!!

The Celtics didn't even score after the call. Garnett and Fisher had a jump ball and Artest then had a breakway where he got fouled and missed both free throws. If Artest would of made both free throws, the Celtics lead would of only been three points. The call did not affect the outcome of the game.

the call was so close I couldn't tell in HD slow-mo if it hit the rim or not. in real speed I thought for sure it hit the rim because the ball looked like it changed direction before it hit glass. nevertheless one bad call doesn't make a game. i say the same for the dallas game 5 they lost in miami when the refs let d-wade shoot phantom free throws to ice the game.

The fact is LA trailed for so long and just didn't have the WILL that the celtics had as a collective unit. right now the celtics seem to want it more and have that swag as a entire unit that only kobe(of LA) has. I think boston will win this series in 7.

If celtics win on tuesday, and are presented the 2010 title, are they going to open up that trophy case in staples and hand them the 2009 title to take back to boston too?

i still think lakers win the series, but that both burns laker fans and quite frankly is true.

They should at least put an asterisk on it with KG's picture.

Weak. The ball did not hit the rim.

If you go to the 11 second mark you will notice the ball changes trajectory as an object which hits a surface underneath it would. If it only hit the backboard, it would have come back towards the court. It hit the rim clearly, because of how the ball changed trajectory. Simple physics. Good call.

first game where I thought the refs really let them play (only REALLY bad calls evened themselves out... the shot-clock violation and the 3 free throws Kobe got right after).

this goes 7.

I didn't think you were right, Dew... that overhead view looked like a miss at first while the one after 11 seconds looked like it might have grazed. What I finally noticed in the overhead was the ball rotation changed before it hit the backboard - so I agree with you, the ball did hit the rim.
